"You have to tell us what happened," Skaldi said as she sat down.

She recounted everything, from her mother being freed to Marco's sacrifice. From the inscription on her sword, to Bezhaal's death and the destruction of his city. It took some time, but the group listened in silence until the end.

Snorri slapped his knee as she finished and cheered out, "so she goes to kill a witch and brings down the whole damned realm!"

"Don't be so cheerful, dwarf," Vis said. "We might judge it as a good deed, but the death of a god will not be looked upon lightly."

"No," Skaldi said, "not even one as twisted as Bezhaal. Yet still, we are here in one piece, and a great evil has been ridden from existence."

Vis scoffed, "not from existence. Nothing ever ceases to exist, not even in the abyss."

  "No?" Skaldi murmured.

"No. They will be reborn, somewhere, someplace, as something. I am sure of it," Vis said.

"Then Marco will be reborn?" Isolde asked with a glint of hope in her eye.

Vis shrugged and nodded, but kept his lips tight.

"It is over, then?" Thodin asked.

"Not yet," Skaldi said, "though the end is near. Hrothgar will still punch southward with whatever force is left. Wulfric and Isolde's father will ride out to meet him, and we will have to be there with the draugrs if we want to take back the north."

"Then what is the plan, Skaldi?" Harald asked.

The old man leaned back in his chair and looked deeply into the flames of the fire.

"The full moon is approaching fast. We must meet Wulfric in time or he will be cut to pieces before a real battle could ever take place. We leave tomorrow, at first light. I will take Thodin and Skaldi back to Ama's, we will need her... but that journey will take too much time." The old man turned his gaze to Harald and Isolde. "The two of you will have to head east on your own, through the Silent Hills and on to Harkham. You have to find Wulfric and tell him what's happening. The Black Witch might be gone, but the chaos she has spread still needs to be undone. It will be a long road for you both, but stay true to each other and we will meet again before the end."

Isolde forced a smile to Skaldi and felt Harald squeeze her hand. It felt good to be alive, and better than that, she was safe with Harald again. She looked at him and saw in his eyes that he was scared as well. But something had changed, not just in her, but in Harald as well. She squeezed his hand back and looked into the flames of the fire. One final battle... she thought, and rested her head back into the seat.

  THANKS FOR READING

Reviews mean everything to me and I would so greatly appreciate it if you left me one on Amazon.

As an Indie Author I have to do everything myself which includes all the promo work and marketing. By leaving a review you add social proof to my book and basically say to everyone else that you enjoyed it.

This lets me focus less on marketing and more on writing!

But I understand you might not want to and that's okay. On average only 1 out of every 100 readers leave reviews and I think that is because they think it is either unimportant or they don't know what is expected.

Honesty, even a one liner like, "this book was good..." helps so much in the long term and goes a long way to establishing me as a full-time writer.
