The team at Swoon Reads/Macmillan is amazing! Huge thanks go to Lauren Scobell, Emily Settle, and Holly West for being so supportive and helpful. The Swoon Reads interns, Shania Ballard and Ruqayyah Daud—both of you have such bright futures ahead of you. Ilana Worrell, the production editor, and Kim Waymer, the production manager, you are rock stars! Thanks go to my copyeditor, Valerie Shea, who has such an amazing eye for detail. Madison Furr, thank you for all your hard work with the publicity and marketing of my book. Also Liz Dresner, the cover designer, and Emily Osbourne, the cover artist—I can’t stop staring at your beautiful creation. Marketing and publicity, thank you for all the work you’ve done for me and my book.
Major kudos go to my family. My husband, Brad, who put up with all my random plot questions, even when it was incredibly late and he just wanted to go to sleep. He cooks, cleans, runs errands, and is generally a superhero in every sense of the word. I can’t imagine life without him. My son, who will happily watch television so I can write and doesn’t complain when I feed him yet another peanut-butter-and-honey sandwich because I can’t cook—like, at all. My mom and dad, who never doubted that this day would finally come. They always encouraged me to chase my dreams and kept listening, no matter how many times I struggled in the journey.
And I can’t have an acknowledgments section without thanking my fantabulous critique partners. Kelly Lyman, I can’t even count how many times you’ve read this book, but I know it’s gotten old by now. I love you to pieces. Brookie Cowles, thank you for supporting me every step of the way and celebrating each milestone with me. I’m so lucky to have you in my life.
And last but definitely not least—you! Thank you for reading my book, whoever you may be. Books can’t exist without readers, and I’m so happy you took time out of your busy life to read mine. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Awkward hugs all around!
