Blood Shall Run (An FBI Romance Thriller Book 15)

“Fuck me,” she begged. “Make the hurt stop.”
Oh, he was going to do that and so much more.
Yanking her pants down, they were tangled around her ankles. He hissed in frustration as he tugged on her boots.
Elizabeth’s hands were now in his pants, and she was wildly jerking him off.
Jesus!
He loved his wife.
“You’re such a hussy,” he muttered.
Her laughter filled the room. “Teach me a lesson, Callen. Make me beg.”
He wanted to feel himself buried in her body as he drove her over the edge. As they rubbed against each other, Kevlar hitting Kelvar, he was getting frustrated.
Screw it.
Callen began tearing off his clothes. This was no way to fornicate with his woman. He wanted to feel her body against his. This was irritating him.
Elizabeth gasped as he ripped off her shirt. The little white buttons went flying as he wildly tore through the layers to get to her.
When he hit the vest, he began cursing.
It made her laugh.
“I’m glad you find this funny,” he stated. “When I get to you, I’m going to leave marks.”
That made her stomach curl in lust. She loved his hands all over her.
Off went the vest.
Callen left the tank top and bra.
As he stared down at the panties in the way, he left them on. Instead, he tugged them aside.
“Jesus, you’re wet,” he said, running the tip of his erection through the moistness.
“You make me wet, Callen. This between us makes me want to do incredibly wild things.”
He wanted each and every one of them.
When he kissed her, she wrapped her arms around his neck. Before she could fall into the kiss, he slammed his body into her.
She shouted his name.
“Now I’m going to make you beg,” he whispered.
The ride began.
It was merciless.
He pounded himself into her body in one hell of a sweaty romp. There was the sound of her moans, his groans of need, and the sound of their bodies slapping against each other.
It was violent.
Wild.
Them.
When she buried her nails in his shoulders, she knew she was going to tumble. “Callen,” she shouted, as he buried himself in her wet heat.
She came.
It was hard.
Elizabeth needed to feel this.
Before she could even register what was happening, Callen was out of her body and flipping her over.
“God, Lyzee,” he muttered, rubbing his wet erection between her ass cheeks. “I need this is the worst way.”
He slid home, invading her ass and claiming it.
She gasped at the invasion, and then couldn’t think past the way he was controlling their lovemaking.
It was typical Callen, whispering X-rated things in her ear. It made her want him even more. “Harder,” she begged.
And this was why he loved her. His wife not only knew her needs, but she got his.
Leaning back, he watched his dick find its way home over and over again. “If you weren’t my woman, you would be now,” he said, feeling the heat building in his body.
“Callen!”
He grabbed a handful of her wild black hair and pulled it to the side so she was pinned to the couch. He loved watching her face as he claimed her body like this.
There was nothing hotter.
When she begged, he slowed the strokes down. As she tightened around him, with each punishing glide, he wanted to explode.
Leaning over her body, he whispered in her ear. “Knowing that you’re going to walk around with my cum in you makes me wild.”
“Then make me yours,” she begged.
He stroked that sensitive bud, and then ground his fingers against it until she whimpered in pain.
“Callen!” She shouted, coming for him again.
It was all his body could take. With two more deep thrusts, he exploded apart and poured into her body.
Hers milked his, taking all he had to offer.
“Jesus,” he muttered, falling back to the couch. Elizabeth rested against the arm, breathing heavily.
“Holy shit, you’re an animal,” she muttered.
He laughed. “Four and a half minutes. I had thirty seconds to spare.”
She snorted.
“Come here,” he said, pulling her toward him. She curled into his body. “Feel any better?”
“A little.”
“We’ll fix this.”
She nodded. “How can I help him?”
“You need to promise him that you’ll never stop needing him. Maybe, you can throw him a bone.”
She looked up at him.
“You’re a good brother.”
“I’m an even better lover.”
She laughed. “Can you text him to meet us at the church of the stupid and crazy?”
He gently kissed her. “Angel, it would be my pleasure.”
“Oh, and Callen?”
“Hmm?” he said, reaching for his jeans to find his phone.
“I wouldn’t mind walking around every day with your cum in my body.”
He flushed and dropped to his knees. It looked like he was praying.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“Thanking Jesus that my wife’s a slut.”
She stared at him.
Then she started laughing. Callen did his job. Already, she was feeling better.
That was truly his gift.

Ethan was working on his profile for his wife. Everything she’d said was absolutely right. He’d cross so many lines that she deserved to chew his ass up, and spit it out.
Yet, that wouldn’t be the end of it.
Not even close.
He knew what was coming, and his name was Christopher Leonard.
At the knock on the door, he told him to come in. It wasn’t lost on Ethan that the man locked the door behind him.
Oh, it was going to be ugly.
“Are you free?”
Ethan closed his tablet. “I am.”
“I need to speak to you as Chris to Ethan, not Deputy Director Blackhawk to his ME. Is that okay?”
“It is.”
“No repercussions for what’s going to be said?”
“No.”
Chris was glad. He approached the standing man, and took a deep breath.
Then…
He punched him in the face.
Ethan fell back onto the couch and stared at the man with wide eyes.
“That’s for what you just pulled in here. You fucking humiliated my sister. She doesn’t deserve that. For the last four months, she’s been cleaning up my mess, and I’m sorry that I dumped it on her, but if you had a problem, you should have come to me.”
Ethan used his pocket square to wipe the blood from his lips. Fortunately, their ME hit like…an ME. He was more shocked that the man had the balls to do it.
He rather respected that.
In some sick and twisted way.
“You crossed a line, made her feel like shit, and made her vulnerable out there. We aren’t having an affair, and frankly, maybe I’m sick and tired of hearing about it too. My wife died four months, two days, and four hours ago. Maybe, Ethan, just maybe, I’m not so happy with what the media is saying either. Elizabeth is my friend. She’s my family. I wouldn’t cross any lines, and I certainly wouldn’t let her risk her marriage to heal my heart.”
Ethan stared at the man.
“You’re lucky she didn’t kick your ass, but I will. I will stand up for her. I will go a round with you even if you can hurt me. She’s worth it, and if you can’t see that when she looks at you, that she’s stupid in love with you, then you don’t deserve her.”
Ethan let him get it all out.
“You told me, the night my wife died, that you were my brothe
r. You made me feel included, only to hear that you wanted me out of your home. Well, I’m leaving, and this is why. It’s not because I’m healed enough—I’m not. It’s not because I am sick of Elizabeth—it’s not. It’s not the bullshit I told her about finding Bethe a home. It’s because I see how you’re angry at her because she’s a decent, kind, loving human being. If you weren’t her husband, I’d try to kick your ass. Because she loves you, more than she loves herself, I won’t add to her hurt, but someone needs to stand up to you and tell you that you’re an asshole.”
“Are you done?” he asked.
“No. You’re an asshole.”
It deserved to be repeated.
“I love her, and I respect her. What I have for your wife is the ONLY thing that’s getting me through this. It’s the only thing that’s keeping me from going home, drinking my way through a liquor cabinet, and drowning myself in my sorrow. Don’t you dare hurt her! Don’t! You have no right to punish her because you’re angry at me. If you want to hate someone, then you hate me. I’ll accept it. I’ll live with it. I’ll even fucking smile at you when I’m dying inside, but I won’t let you make her cry. You humiliated her, and that’s a low blow.”
Ethan stared at the blood on his pocket square.
“Have you ever been so afraid, and out of control, that you couldn’t breathe?”
“Yes.”
“I’m there right now. I’m not angry that you’re around. I’m angry at me. I’m scared shitless, and I don’t know how to get it under control. I think I’m in over my head.”
Chris sat.
Ethan’s admission calmed him right down.
“Why?”
“She wanted to come back, and I thought it was a good idea. I figured why not? I could be the deputy director and not even bat an eyelash.”
“From what I hear, you’re doing a good job.”
“I feel out of control. I was this horrible human being before her. I broke rules, I didn’t care who I hurt, and I only wanted power. Then I met her.”
He listened.
“When I met Elizabeth, everything changed. I saw myself as someone better. I could be a better man for her. I had to be. Now I’m watching my wife spread her wings without me, and I know I have nothing to offer her. Elizabeth gave me this. She gave me a family when I was so alone—that includes you, Chris. She gave me this peace, and the more time I’m away from her, the harder it is. When she and Callen headed out, I realized something.”
“What?”
“She doesn’t really need me. Elizabeth is smart, and anyone can fill my role. So, the fight you heard was me making excuses. It was me trying to hide the truth. I’m so scared I’m going to lose her.”
His eyes filled with tears.
Chris had never seen Ethan like this. It was alarming.
“I don’t know how to be Ethan Blackhawk without her. I’m empty. She’s all that I have.”
He stared down at his wedding ring.
“I told her to choose for my needs. I needed to know she loves me enough that I’d be her first choice. She’s mine.”
Chris got it.
“I love her too, Ethan. I may have come first, but it’s not the same love. Know what we talked about today?”
He shook his head. “I only saw the media coverage.”
So, Chris told him.
Everything.
As he did, Ethan sat there with tears on his face. He’d really damaged all of this. He’d hurt her, and he was probably never going to be able to fix it.
No woman, in her right mind, would.
“I’ve lost my wife, Callen is pissed at me, and I hurt you with my anger. I meant what I said, Chris. You are part of us. I just didn’t realize how lucky I was until I screwed it up.”
“I’m afraid too, Ethan. I lay in bed wondering how to be a father. I didn’t have one. Now not only do I have to do that, but I have to be a mom too. Elizabeth fills a hole in me, but it’s not sexual. She’s my teacher, my mentor, my sister, and my family. I have no one left. I’m where you’re afraid to be. Don’t end up here, Ethan. There’s no going back. One day I had it all, and in the blink of an eye, all I have is ashes and ruin.”
He got it.
“Please forgive me,” Ethan said. “I’m sorry, Chris. I am so sorry for humiliating her, and accusing you of something that I know wasn’t true. She’s lucky to have you.”
“Ethan, I’d die to protect her. When you offered me a family, it made you part of that too. I know I’m not tough like you and Callen, but if someone was trying to hurt either of you, I’d fight with all I had.”
He was well aware. “I hope you can forgive me for what I did, and I deserved that punch to the face. Next time, aim for the nose. It does more damage. The jawbone is one of the hardest bones in the body. If you break someone’s nose, they’re staying down.”
Chris laughed because he’d taught them that about the jawbone.
“Hopefully, there won’t be a next time.”
Ethan held out his hand. “I know I don’t deserve it, but can we start over?”
Chris hugged him. “We can, Ethan. Family forgives, they always have your back, and they never leave you behind. Elizabeth taught me that.”
He didn’t deserve it.
“Thank you.”
“Now if you want to start over, then we have to get Elizabeth to forgive you. The best way is to get her family to forgive you.”
Chris pointed at the door.
Ethan knew the entire tech team wanted him strung up and used as a piñata. He couldn’t blame them, but then again, he’d earned it.
Heading out, he stood in the middle of the lab.
“Excuse me,” he said.
Everyone looked up.
“I would like to apologize for what happened here today. I crossed a line, and placed all of you in the middle of something that should have been a private conversation. I hope you can forgive me.”
As he went back toward the door, he heard his name.
“Director?” Merry called.
Ethan almost dreaded the oncoming confrontation with his staff.
He turned to find her walking toward him. When she approached, she hugged him. “We love Elizabeth because she’s the best boss, but we all love you too. It sucks watching mom and dad fight. Fix it.”
He stared down at her.
It was staggering.
Chris patted him on the shoulder. “Looks like you have a lot more to lose than only her, Ethan. You have a family too. Don’t forget it.”
How could he?
This was a huge teaching moment for him. It was one he’d never forget.
When his phone chimed, he pulled it out. There was a message.
‘We need you. Get here fast.’
His heart thumped.
His brother’s message gave him the address, but nothing else to clue him in.
It didn’t take much to freak him out. Immediately, all the horrible scenarios filled his head.
Something had to have happened to his wife. That was the only explanation for the cryptic message.
He wanted to be sick.
“I have to go.”
They all watched him leave.
When he was gone, Tony spoke, “Did you punch him in the face?” he asked.
“Yep.”
The techs began laughing.
“What’s so damn funny?” Chris asked.
Tony clued him in. “You put your hands on one of Elizabeth’s husbands. Even if it was in her honor, she’s going to kick your ass.”
Well, shit!
He never thought about it like that.
Chapter Twenty
When he got to the address, his heart was pounding in his chest. All he could think was that something bad had happened to his wife. Ethan ignored the media following him as they asked questions about his now swelling lip.
It didn’t matter.
His wife did.
What raced through his mind was the fact that they’d
had a fight before she went out in the field.
If she was hurt…
He’d never forgive himself.
As he approached the building, he saw her and Callen sitting on the steps waiting. He relaxed marginally, but now he wanted to know what the hell was going on to get that text.
“Elizabeth!” he shouted.
She turned her head, tracking his voice until she found him on the sidewalk.
Then she was up, moving toward him.
Ethan couldn’t breathe.
He really hoped she wasn’t going to kick his ass out in public, but if she did, he would suck it up as his penance.
“Cowboy,” she said, running the last few feet, and then jumping up and into his arms. Her legs went around his waist, and she found his mouth with hers.
Surely, this was a joke.
There was no way he was receiving this kind of reception after he’d just committed the ‘husband’s cardinal sin’.
The lip lock continued.
Ethan didn’t understand why she was kissing him. He didn’t deserve this, and he knew it.
At some point, time fell away, and he got lost in the mating of mouths. She felt so good in his arms. Around him, he could hear the clicking of shutters, and he knew what was going to be on the news in the morning.
Good.
He wanted the world to know they were solid.
When he pulled away, she took his face in her hands. “I love you, Ethan. You don’t have to be afraid. There is no me without you. We started it all. We’re the center of the circle.”
He wanted to weep.
She understood.
“Lyzee.”
He wanted to hold her like this forever, but they had an audience. When he went to put her down, she wouldn’t let go.
“They always see me hugging Callen or Chris. I want them to see me hugging the first man I’ve ever loved. I want them to see me being affectionate with the man I married first.”
His heart skipped.
“I’m so sorry. I hope you forgive me. I don’t deserve this. I feel so lost without being your partner. I feel like I’ve been left behind.”
She stared into those blue-black eyes. “I can’t leave you behind. You live in my heart. Where I go, you go. You found me when I was lost. It’ll always be yours. We may have different jobs, but, Ethan, how can I ever forget you for a single second? You gave me our first child. You are the reason I am who I am.”
