  Epilogue

  ROCLAN

  “Mr. Nyan! Mr. Nyan!”

Vimora ran to him, her eyes wide in panic and out of breath.

“I told you, it’s Roclan,” Roclan growled, not looking up from his sword.

Vimora came to a stop in front of him, bracing her hands on her knees as she panted. “Sorry, I forgot.”

Roclan shot her a disapproving look and she grimaced, lifting her shoulders, but they both knew she’d purposely called him Mr. Nyan because she believed he belonged to Nyan and not the other way around. Just like they both knew he purposely pretended to tell her off every time, even though he secretly liked having a name only she called him.

“You shouldn’t be out a breath,” he said sternly as he cleaned. “We have been doing drills for the last three months. You are willfully remaining out of shape on purpose, little Vi.”

Vimora laughed heartily. “You make me almost die every time we train! It’s not possible to stay out of shape with you instructing me. Unfortunately,” she grumbled.

“And yet you are gasping for breath,” he remarked.

She rolled her eyes, and Roclan suppressed a grin. She was becoming just as smart-mouthed as Nyan, and he was just as protective of her as he was with the rest of the family.

The information commander Torin had given them about camouflaging her lack of scent had worked. They’d managed to make her smell like a Beta so convincingly, it was impossible to tell the difference. As long as she kept up her doses, no one would ever know—even when she trained and sweated, her scent deepened like it normally would with the other dynamics. Vimora argued about it for a little while because she wanted to be camouflaged as an Alpha, but Alpha females suffered problems that could potentially be damaging to her.

“You are not being camouflaged to become any kind of unusual or unique dynamic,” her grandmother scolded. “You will be a Beta, and you will not draw attention to yourself in any way.”

“But Alphas have the most power,” Vimora groaned.

“Maybe so,” Roclan said, from where he listened in on their conversation. “They are also the most visible and can be targeted because they are dominant. If you want to be invisible, you have to become a Beta.”

Vimora pouted for a moment, but one look from Roclan and she dropped her sulk, sheepishly. Nyan’s mother nodded her head in thanks, and since then she’d been less wary of him, which was good since they now all lived together in Dorei.

“What are you doing anyway?” he asked. “I thought you were helping pack supplies for Nyan? You know she gets tired easily now, so—”

“She wants to see you. She thinks she’s going into labor.”

Roclan dropped his sword. “What! Why are you only telling me this now?” He jumped up and ran toward the house.

“She’s all right,” she called after him.

“Where is she?” Roclan said, his panic rising. Why hadn’t he felt anything in the bond?

  “Upstairs.”

He raced upstairs to find Nyan lying on the bed, her stomach wonderfully round, her eyes closed. He rushed to her side. “Nyan!”

She opened her eyes and smiled. “I think it’s starting.”

Roclan’s mind threatened to overload and he froze for a moment, trying to remember what to do. Where the fuck was her mother?

“Roclan? Is it weird if I feel like singing?”

Roclan tensed for a moment, then felt for their bond. It was beaming with contentment, optimistic apprehension, and love. “No. Not if you feel like it. Singing should be joyous, Nyan. It’s a great way to celebrate life, not just death. It would please me to hear you.”

His Omega grinned. And when she opened her mouth and sang, it was filled with all the positive, warm feelings flourishing in the bond.

At the sound of her, Roclan relaxed and set about preparing for the birth of their son.

  NYAN

Nyan wriggled her toes into the sand of the eastern beach of Dorei, watching the sun steadily sailing down to the horizon. It was the most peaceful time of day, and everything was quiet around her and within her. She never thought she would ever see a sunset again, or the blue sea as it glimmered in the light. She had been so adamant that she would never allow anyone to harm Vi, she had already given up her life the moment she knew what had happened. Of course, Roclan finding her, just at that time, had been an incredible blessing… not that she felt that way at the time.

She grinned at the memory of his arrogance and dominance then and how mature he was now that he had so many responsibilities. Of course, he was still arrogant and dominant in all the right ways when he needed to be, but he was more balanced. Both he and the Commander Torin believed it was because he was a bonded Alpha now, but she suspected his eyes had been opened up to the complexities of the Lox Empire. She loved that he still had his conviction and was upholding his principles for the people in the southwest. It was as though he was trying to prove to them that their lives were better with the Lox in it. She was surprised at herself for beginning to believe it.

She was certainly more stable with him in her life. He’d bought a small cottage for her to see patients, making them travel to her rather than her traveling around the southwest territories. She thought she would hate it, but it was nice to be in one place, and it meant she could see more people. Of course, Roclan had made sure the cottage was next to his base, and he visited often.

Nyan frowned at the sight of her swollen ankles and dug her feet farther into the sand. She hadn’t yet lost the weight of her pregnancy, but Roclan was trying to feed her a thousand times a day so that she wouldn’t lose any. The man was positively devious about the things he wanted to be able to continue doing with the jiggly fat on her body. She had been mortified at his focus on it, but of course, with Roclan, she could never be embarrassed for too long.

A burst of desire bloomed in the bond, and she knew Roclan was nearby, watching her. It was the same feeling every time, even when she was heavy and wide just before giving birth, and she was wondering when it would stop, and if it ever would.

“Nyan,” Roclan’s voice was deep and gritty, then automatically a shiver of need trembled through her at the sound.

  “Hmm?”

“We have a few moments alone.”

Before she could answer, he had unbuckled himself, pushed her back on the sand, and forced his cock between her lips.

She tried to protest, but he was already in her throat, gripping the back of her head. She choked around him as she adjusted, and he groaned, his eyes blazing with that look she loved; it had never lost its potency. She glared back at him, feeling the wildness of his desire thundering through the bond and knowing he felt the same from her. It was one of the reasons he knew she loved his cock in her mouth, especially in this position where she could see his magnificent body above her. What she wasn’t happy about was that he was doing it in public—potentially in full view of her mother!

But as he fucked her mouth, lathering saliva around the corners as his strokes increased, the thought evaporated from her mind. His scent dominated her nose, and the pleasure on his face, the heaviness of his grunts, tugged at her craving for him and heightened her body into a state of need where it was difficult to think.

Before he could spill, Roclan withdrew and practically ripped off her tunic and panties so he could sink inside her. She cried out at the rigid, glorious length splitting her open with the burning, addictive pressure she loved, reaching deep into her. They gripped and clawed at each other, their growls and moans and grunts almost as feral as their violent fucking.

“What makes you think I’m in the mood for your cock in front of my mother?” she panted out around the gusts of air caused by his slams.

Roclan chuckled. “She is with the children.”

Nyan groaned, but couldn’t put together the words she wanted to say. The beautiful climax was arriving, twisting her body, seizing her muscles. She screamed and shuddered as it overtook her, clenching arou
nd the Alpha’s cock and gushing onto the sand.

The Alpha kissed her hard, pushing his tongue into her mouth and grunting as his pounding became furious. He bellowed as he knotted her, slamming into her pussy and jerking as he spilled.

Nyan wrapped her arms around his neck as he dropped his weight on top of her and grabbed her breast.

“They can still see us from here, you know, Roclan,” Nyan finally said, when her breathing calmed. “If they look out the window facing the sunset.”

“They’ve gone to one of your suppliers.”

“With the baby too?” Nyan asked, surprised.

Roclan’s hum was more of a rumble. “Your mother insisted.”

Nyan had to laugh. Her mother was like a different person since Nyan and Roclan had returned from Lox Palace; she and Vi moved to Dorei. She’d been positively delighted to have another baby in her life, particularly a boy, since she’d never had a son. Similarly, Vimora was obsessed with her cousin. She played with him constantly, begged to feed him, fell asleep next to him, and was delighted with everything that he did. Nyan often jested they needed to get her just as excited about changing him, but it made her so happy to see them play. Vimora had had no real childhood with other children.

“I don’t get to have you to myself enough, Nyan,” Roclan growled into her neck. “I know I have been busy, too, but it’s not enough.”

Nyan stroked the back of his head, drowsiness arriving. “Why do you think Mama went out today? She knows.”

Roclan made a noise in the back of his throat. “She wants more grandchildren; thats what she knows.”

Nyan laughed, pressing her mouth to his ear. “Are you complaining?”

At that, Roclan chuckled. “Never. Keeping you with child is my ultimate goal.”

Nyan laughed as she swatted him, then began to hum.

Roclan’s purr rumbled into existence and Nyan settled underneath him, watching the sun sink lower while her Alpha’s cock kept her stretched full, the vibrations between them keeping them both mellow.

Contentment radiating from their bond, Nyan couldn’t imagine any moment in her life that would make her happier than right now. Taking a deep breath, she sang for all the happiness she’d never appreciated in song for before; her time with her sister, the safety of her family, her trust of her friends, and most of all, the love of her Alpha.

  DROCCO

As he sat down, he saw Cailyn enter. He couldn’t take his eyes from her as she threaded through the crowd toward him. He almost held his breath as he stared. The woman was utterly gorgeous. Her hair had been swept up again revealing that delicate neck, and the dress clung to every delicious curve. Finally he could see her luscious figure in detail and it had been worth the wait. With the cut of the dress revealing the tops of her shoulders, her simple elegance seemed out of place among the raucous crowd.

His guards let her through at his instruction and she climbed the platform and stood before him, her head low.

“I’m not pleased you had to be summoned, kitten,” he said, lifting his ale and keeping his eyes on her.

“I’m sure you can understand I wasn’t eager to attend, considering your plans to…” Her voice petered out, her head lifted and she closed her eyes, swaying slightly. Then her eyes opened, widening as an expression of horror seeped into her face.

Drocco frowned, confused, and then a scent hit him. A rich, luscious, sublime scent, like nothing he had smelled before. It penetrated every part of him, causing a yearning so powerful that suddenly every fiber of his being switched to high alert.

“No,” Cailyn whispered, taking a step back. “No. It can’t…”

Drocco ignored her and leaned forward, trying to decipher what he was experiencing. A fog began to swamp his mind, and the only clear thought emerging was that he needed that scent—it belonged to him. He turned his head slowly seeking it out, and then snapped back to Cailyn. It was her.

Cailyn glanced around wildly as she backed away, her whole body tense and poised to bolt.

Drocco rose slowly, every inch of him aware of every inch of her. A raw hunger developed as he took in her terrified expression, her scent blossoming into an aroma so enticing, so complex, his cock hardened to rock. At the same time, the guards behind her began to turn and look at her, their nostrils flaring.

Something snapped in Drocco. He swept forward and lifted Cailyn, throwing her over his shoulder before storming out of the Great Hall. He maneuvered through the corridors of the palace to the nearest private space he could find, trying to ignore the sweet aroma filling his nostrils. He could barely think. All he knew was that he needed to be alone with her. His guards would be following him; he wanted to lose them.

He arrived at his barely used office and entered without breaking his stride. Heading to the center of the room, he put her down, keeping his hands on her soft body as he breathed her in.

She looked up at him and he froze. Her brown irises had morphed to include a hint of gold—a gold he had only ever read about, a gold that no one had seen in one hundred and eleven years.

“Are you an Omega?” he said, his voice hoarse with disbelief.

She took advantage of his shock to stumble away from him to the far wall. “What did you do?” she cried. She pressed herself up against the wall and almost sobbed. “They’re gone. They’re all gone! What did you do?”

Drocco watched her eyes turning more golden as the seconds passed. “Explain yourself, Cailyn Lefroy,” he demanded. “Are you an Omega, or have you taken something?”

The woman moved along the wall and then back again, looking around frantically. Her scent seeped into the room almost lazily, and it called to Drocco to cease all the questioning and rip that dress off of her. But he forced himself to resist. He needed to know what had changed. How could she suddenly smell so good and have acquired the infamous golden eyes of an Ome
ga in her Haze? Was it a trick? Hadn’t Malloron mentioned Haze recreators coming into the city more often? She could be trying to trap him as revenge for her sister. And yet, as Drocco continued to watch her, she became more desperate.

“Tell me,” he demanded. “Are you an Omega?”

She bent over, pressing her hands between her legs, and groaned. That groan shuddered through him, and his already hard cock jumped painfully. He stepped toward her.

Her head snapped up. “Don’t move!” she snarled at him, holding out a hand. “Don’t come near me.”
