He walked away without another word.

“Abby, open the door.”
Her face buried beneath the pillows on the bed, Abby tried her best to ignore the pounding every few seconds at her door, as well as Ian's demands to let him in.
Bam. Bam. Bam.
“Abby!”
She squeezed her eyes shut and pulled a pillow over her head, hoping to drown him out.
A few seconds passed without a word and she thought it safe to move. Bad idea. The second she tossed the pillow away, she heard, “If you don't open this door in the next five seconds, I'm going to get management up here to open it for you.”
Cursing beneath her breath, she rolled off the bed and stomped over to the door. Flinging it open, she glared at him, not caring the effect was probably more than ruined by her blotchy face and puffy eyes. “What do you want, Professor? I wouldn't want you to put your academic reputation further at risk.”
“That's the furthest thing from my mind right now,” he growled, coming inside. “Why did you run off?”
Abby shut the door and sighed tiredly. “Because.”
“Because? Go on.”
She sighed again and a crease formed between her brows as her expression began to darken. “I ran off because I was afraid if I didn't get away from that … that viper, I would give her a new face. And I don't mean a pretty one.”
Calmer now, Ian suppressed a laugh.
Abby blew a strand of hair out of her eyes where it had fallen. “Can you believe her nerve? Standing there threatening you like that? As if you were forcing me to do something I didn't want to do? Pfft! If I hadn't wanted you to kiss me, I wouldn't have let you.”
His lips spread in a wide grin. “So you want to kiss me?”
“Of course I--” Abby stopped, eyes going wide, cheeks turning pink.
“I mean, I--” She bit her lip, her hand going up to tousle her hair again before she gave up and admitted her vulnerability.
“Yeah,” she answered softly. “I do. I've wanted to kiss you since the first time I saw you.”
Ian's brow lifted. “That long, huh?”
“Mm-hm.”
He reached out and pulled her close, one hand at her waist and the other brushing against her cheek. “I guess we've got lots of missed kisses to make up for, then, wouldn't you say?”
“I think so, yes.” Abby grinned. “Definitely yes.”
The End.
