“Hell yeah! Let’s go,” I reply. Minx and I follow him outside and climb into one of the club’s blacked-out SUVs. Twenty minutes later, we pull up to the hospital. Raze parks the SUV, and we head inside. Raze takes us to a waiting room, where Rascal and Diesel are already sitting.
“Where is he? Where’s Sketch?” I look between Rascal and Diesel.
“They took him into surgery thirty minutes ago,” Rascal tells me. “The nurse said it could take a couple hours depending on how bad the damage is, but she said she would keep us updated as much as she can.”
I slouch into a chair across from them. “He has to be okay. I need him to be okay.”
“Oh, Wren.” Minx sits next to me, wrapping her arm around my shoulders. More brothers trickle in over the next thirty minutes, including my own.
“Wren, are you okay? What did that asshole do to you?” He brushes his thumb over my cheek.
“I’m fine, Shade. It’s nothing,” I tell him.
“Can I get you anything? Something to eat? Drink,” he asks.
“The thought of food makes me want to puke,” I admit.
“Why not get some tea or 7-Up?” Minx suggests.
“Those do sound good,” I say.
“I’ll get you both. Minx, you want anything,” Shade asks.
“I’ll take a tea, please,” she replies.
“You got it.” He walks away to go get our drinks.
“Raze.” Ranger gestures for Raze to go talk to him and Thor. My guess is they want to know what I said about Zack and Santo. While they’re talking, Andrei Orlov, Pakhan of the Bratva, walks in. His eyes search the room before landing on mine. My heart drops as he walks my way. What would the Pakhan want with me?
“Wren, how are you feeling,” Andrei asks.
“As well as I can be, considering,” I tell him. “Thank you for paying off my father’s debt.”
“It was the least I could do. I actually came here to personally thank you for risking your life for my daughter, grandson, and son-in-law,” he says.
“I couldn’t have bared it if something were to happen to them because of me,” I admit.
“You were not the one threatening them. Zack was, and he’ll be taken care of. Santo, too.” With that, he walks away to talk to Ranger. Another thirty minutes go by before anyone comes to talk to us.
“Logan Hayes’s family?” A nurse calls out.
I jump to my feet, standing in front of her. “We’re his family.”
She glances around at everyone but doesn’t comment. “Surgery went well. He’s out of surgery and should be waking up at any moment. I can take two of you back there.”
“Wren and Shade, why don’t y’all go first,” Ranger suggests.
We follow the nurse back to Sketch’s room. If it weren’t for all the machines and everything hooked up to him, I would think he was just sleeping. His left shoulder is all bandaged up. Shade moves to his side while I stay in the doorway. My heart aches to see him like this.
“Hey, brother. I’m here with your Ol’ Lady. Wake your ass up,” Shade laughs out.
A bad feeling washes over me. I slowly move to his right side, sliding a chair next to his bed. Grabbing his hand, I sit with him and pray to the gods.
“Shade, something isn’t right. I don’t know what it is, but something is off.” I squeeze Sketch’s hand, hoping he knows I’m here with him.
“Wren, he’s fine. The nurse said the surgery went well. There’s nothing to worry about,” he says. I won’t stop worrying until he wakes up, and I’ll stay with him until he does. I’m never leaving him again.

We pull up to Santo’s house right after Thor blew up Zack’s car. Men come from all around the house and shoot at us before any of us even get out of the SUVs. There are six men, including Zack and Santo. Rico should be inside with a couple of his men and Wren. He’s supposed to get her out of here and to the safe house with Raze and Minx. I climb out of the SUV on the side facing away from the house. The SUVs are getting peppered with bullets. I duck down moving toward the front of the SUV near Diesel. Standing, I take a couple shots toward Zack, hitting a guy a couple feet in front of him. Shooting in his direction again, I get knocked back by a tight pressure in my left shoulder.
“Shit!” I duck down, sitting against the SUV.
“Sketch, you good?” Rascal crouches down beside me.
I close my eyes, trying to make the dizziness go away. “I-I got shot.”
“Fuck.” He puts pressure on my shoulder. “Diesel, we gotta get Sketch to the hospital.”
They get me back in the SUV and everything goes black.
Everything is so dark and cold. I’m not sure where I am. There are murmured voices, but I don’t see anything. It’s as if I’m stuck in limbo. I’m not sure why or even how I got here.
Instantly, white hospital walls pop up around me. I walk into a room to Wren looking out the window, singing. I can’t quite make out what she’s singing, it’s so soft. She turns around to face me, holding a small bundle in her arms.
“Logan, come back to me.” Her voice is broken like she’s been crying.
I take a few steps so I’m right in front of her, and the bundle disappears. “Little Bird, I’m right here.”
“I’m sorry for leaving. I won’t ever leave again.” It’s distant and her lips aren’t moving. Something isn’t right. My eyes flutter.
I open my eyes, glancing around. Wren is curled up next to me. We’re in a hospital room. I try to move to sit up, but a sharp pain in my left shoulder stops me.
“Fuck,” I mutter. Wren stirs next to me before opening her eyes. Her eyes find mine and are instantly glossy. “Hey, Little Bird.”
A smile stretches across her face. “You’re awake.”
“I am.” I kiss the top of her head. “Was I out for long?”
“Um, two days,” she tells me. “The doctor said you should have woken up the same day. All your vitals were normal, there were no signs of any underlying issues. He wasn’t sure why you didn’t wake up right away. Only that maybe your body was stressed out and was trying to heal itself. Either way, I’m happy you’re finally awake, I thought I lost you for good.”
“You brought me back. It was mostly dark and empty, then all of a sudden, I saw you. You started to talk to me, then the next thing I knew, I was waking up here.” I tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.
“I talked to you every chance I got. Even if there was a possibility you wouldn’t hear me.”
The door to my room opens and Rascal and Shade walk in.
“He’s awake!” Shade says.
“We were beginning to think you would never wake up,” Rascal adds.
“Nah, nothin’ will ever keep me from this beauty.” I glance at Wren, pulling her closer to me.
Shade mock groans. “I’ll go let the nurse know you’re awake.”
Wren giggles and it’s the greatest sound ever.
“How you feelin’, brother,” Rascal asks.
“Sore, but well-rested.” I laugh.
The nurse walks in, glaring at Wren. “You should not be in bed with him.”
“She’s not fucking moving,” I tell her. “Do what you gotta do to check me over and get me the hell outta here. I want to go home.”
Rascal chokes back a laugh as the nurse takes my vitals.
“Everything looks normal. Let me page the doctor to check you over. You should be good to go before the day is over,” the nurse states, then walks out.
“What a bitch,” Wren mutters.
“We’ll be out of here soon, babe,” I assure her.
A couple hours go by before the doctor comes in to check on me.
“Mr. Hayes, how are you feeling,” he asks.
“Aside from being sore, I feel pretty good,” I tell him.
“Well, your vitals are all normal and everything checks out. I’d say you’re good to go. Go easy for a couple weeks, and we’ll see you soon for a
check-up.”
He hands me my discharge papers and sends me on my way.
“What do you want to do first,” Wren asks.
“Get a big, greasy cheeseburger. I’m starving,” I say.
“Let’s go, brother. Then we’ll get you home,” Shade says.
Ten minutes later, we’re pulling up to some local diner. We get seated quickly.
“Please tell me after all that we got Zack and Santo,” I say to Shade and Rascal.
“We sure as fuck did.” Shade has a stupid grin on his face. “Ranger, Kicks, and Clutch took Zack straight to the clubhouse while Diesel, Saint, and Thor took Santo to the Russos.”
“Enough talk about those assholes. Let’s get some food,” Wren requests.
“You got it, babe.” I wrap my good arm around her, pulling her closer and kiss her. Once we eat, we get on the road back to the clubhouse.

Wren
We get back to the clubhouse close to seven. After saying hi and catching up with everyone, it’s already eight o’clock when we get to Sketch’s room. His face is pale and he’s moving slow, but when he turns to face me, his face lights up with the most handsome smile ever.
“Logan, let’s get you in bed. You look exhausted.” I pull the blankets down so he can lay down. I turn back to him. “Do you want to change or anything before you lay down?”
He pulls me into him with his good arm. “Have I told you how happy I am that you’re safe and back in my arms?”
I pretend to think it over. “You might have told me once.”
He grins and brings his lips down on mine. “I mean it. I was terrified that phone call was going to be our last conversation. I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if something had happened and I never told you how I feel about you.”
“Wh-what do you mean?”
“Wren, I love you.” His eyes are locked on mine, staring deep into my soul.
My eyes tear up. “I love you, too.”
He kisses me again, making it more passionate than the first one.
I break the kiss, needing to get him in bed. “As much as I don’t want to ruin this moment, you need to get some rest.”
“Only if you’ll stay with me.”
“I don’t plan on going anywhere.” I cup his face in my hand. “Ever.”
A low growl rumbles in his throat. “If I wasn’t injured, I would make love to you all fucking night.”
“Would you settle for me doing a little something for you?” I dip my fingertips into the waistband of his sweats.
He inhales a sharp breath. “You don’t have to do this, Wren.”
“I know, but I want to do this.” I guide him closer to the bed. When his legs hit the edge of the bed, I pull his sweats and boxer briefs down, then let him sit. I take his cock in my hand, pumping it a couple times. I drop to my knees in front of him, slowly taking him in my mouth. A groan of pleasure encourages me to keep going. I take him deeper into my mouth, still moving my hand as I go.
“Wren,” he moans. I cup his balls with my free hand, massaging them as I suck his dick. His hand delves into my hair. “Damn it, babe. Keep that up and you’ll make me come in no time.”
His words only motivate me further. I swirl my tongue around the tip of his cock before letting it hit the back of my throat. All while continuing to play with his balls.
“Oh, fuck. I’m coming.”
His dick pulses and his warm cum shoots down my throat. I lick up every last drop, leaving nothing behind. He gently pulls on my hair, making me rise to my feet.
“That was the best blowjob I’ve ever gotten. My shy, Little Bird, where the hell did you learn all that?”
My cheeks heat up. “Honestly, hearing the girls talk about it.” I giggle.
“You’re a fucking natural,” Sketch laughs. He stands, using one hand he pulls his boxer briefs and sweats up, then climbs in bed. “Come lay with me.”
“One sec,” I tell him. I move to his closet to grab a shirt. I take everything off but my panties and put one of his shirts on.
“This is gonna be fucking torture having to keep my hands off you until I’m healed.” Sketch sighs.
“It’ll be worth the wait. I’m not going to risk you hurting yourself more just so you can get your dick wet.”
He chuckles. “Such a sweet girl, but such a dirty fucking mouth. I love it.”
I turn the TV on to something random for us to fall asleep to. I’m about to turn the light off when he stops me.
“Before you turn the light off, can you get a couple gummies for me? They’re in this side table here.” He nudges his head to the side table to his left.
“Gummies,” I ask. I open the drawer to a green tube.
“They have THC in them. They’ll help with the pain in my shoulder. If I smoke flower or my pen, I risk the chance of it making me cough,” he explains.
“That makes sense. How many?”
“Two, please,” he replies. I hand him two gummies, then turn the lights off. I climb into bed and cuddle up to his good side. This is exactly where I’m meant to be. Finally.

A couple weeks go by. Sketch has been taking it as easy as he can without going crazy. The man can’t stay still for too long. The past couple days, he’s been hanging out at Savage Repairs. He still can’t work, but he’s been keeping an eye on the prospects while they work. Making sure they don’t fuck anything up. While he’s at the shop, I’ve been spending time with Cali and Caden, getting my baby fix in.
“How are you and Sketch doing,” Cali asks. She’s warming up a bottle for Caden, while I get some snuggles in.
“We’re doing really well.” I flash her a genuine smile.
“Have you talked to him about what happened while you were with Zack?”
“What do you mean.” I give her a questioning glance.
“You had a black eye when you came back,” she states. “I know you didn’t get it from running into a wall.”
“Oh, that.”
“Oh, that? What else happened, Wren?” I can feel her eyes boring into me.
“Um . . .” I hesitate, looking from her to Caden and back to her. “He forced himself on me.”
“What the hell?” Cali shouts. “Please tell me you’ve told Sketch? Zack needs to fucking pay for that.”
“I actually haven’t told him yet,” I admit.
“You’re not afraid to, are you?”
“No, I just haven’t been ready to talk about it,” I tell her. “I will soon, though.”
She leaves it alone at that, handing me Caden’s bottle. I feed him and soak up the moment. He’ll be walking before everyone knows it.

Sketch
It’s been two weeks since I was shot and we got Wren back. I’m supposed to be taking it easy, but sitting around the clubhouse all day is making me go fucking stir crazy. For the last two days, I’ve been hanging out at Savage Repairs. Mostly with Raze, Saint, and Rascal. Today, Buster is here with us, checking on some of his clients’ cars. He’s spent the last couple weeks at home with Cali and Caden, being a new dad.
“How are you feelin’ today, brother?” Rascal is working on a 2018 Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883. It’s a good looking bike.
I take a hit of my pen. “It hurts, but smokin’ dulls the pain. I miss my fuckin’ bike.”
“That’s the worst part of gettin’ shot,” he laughs. “That and not bein’ able to get your dick wet.”
I chuckle. “That would be your top concern.”
“What can I say? I love me some pussy.”
We both laugh.
“Yo, Sketch. You ready to head back to the house?” Buster calls out.
“Hell yeah,” I reply. We said goodbye to everyone and head out. The drive to his house seems to take forever.
“How are you and Wren doin’,” he asks.
“We’re great. She’s been takin’ real good care of me.”
“That’s good, man. H
as she opened up about anything that might have happened with Zack?”
I freeze. I hate hearing that fucker’s name. “Nah. I’ve tried to get her to talk, but I don’t want to push her. I’ve assured her I’m here when she’s ready to talk.”
“Sometimes, that’s all you can do. She’s a strong woman,” he says.
We pull up to his house and I climb out of the car. I walk into the house to Wren, rocking Caden and singing a lullaby to him. The sight stops me in my tracks and I watch her. She doesn’t sing often, but when she does, it’s such a beautiful sound. I need to remember to mention that to her. After a couple minutes, she lifts her head, eyes connecting with mine.
“Hey,” she says softly.
“Hey, Little Bird.”
Cali walks out of the kitchen, greeting Buster with a kiss. “Would you two like to stay for dinner?”
“Maybe another night? I’m honestly not very hungry,” Wren says to her.
“That’s fine. Y’all are welcome whenever you want. You’re a pro with Caden.” Cali smiles at her.
Wren blushes. “Thank you. He makes it so easy.”
Her eyes sparkle when she looks at Caden. She’ll make a great mom one day. Wren hands Caden to Cali, saying her goodbyes and making promises to come back again soon.
“Thanks for the ride back, B. See y’all later,” I say. I tuck Wren under my good arm and we walk back outside. “Did you have a good time?”
“Yeah. It was great spending time with Cali. Caden is such a sweet baby,” she tells me.
“You looked like a natural with him,” I admit. We climb into my car, Wren driving since I can’t. “What’s this about you not being hungry, though? You haven’t been eating much lately. Are you alright?”
“I’m okay most of the time. It comes in waves though,” she tells me. “I’ve been eating small bits throughout the day.”
“How long has it been going on? Do you think you’re coming down with something?”
