Epilogue
Cutter had moved her into his place permanently before the week ended. Among half-opened boxes and piles of books, Greta lounged against him on the couch, a book propped up on her chest. A game was droning on in the background. It was becoming one of her favorite reading positions.
A silver hoop dangling from Cutter’s index finger dropped in front of the page before her. Squinting, she read “Property of Cutter” inscribed on the burnished silver. Snatching it with greedy fingers, she flung the book down and turned around to face him. The collar was crushed between them; Greta pressed her lips against his.
“It’s a day collar. You can wear it backward and hide it underneath your hair when it’s down if you’re at work or running errands. No one would be the wiser.”
Her heart pinched. In the midst of proclaiming his love for her, he was respecting her limitations.
“It’ll make it hotter when I take you home and mount you from behind. Pull up that thick hair of yours and see my name etched in silver while slamming into you. Grrr. We should try out my theory right now.”
A needy moan slipped out of her as Greta clasped his head and smashed his lips down on hers. Once she released him, he spoke in a husky rasp, “Try it on.”
She scooped her hair to the side and arched her neck. Cutter clasped it around her throat, and the weight settled comfortably above her collarbone. Although she couldn’t tell what it looked like, it felt glorious.
Sprawled on his chest, she laid her head on top of her linked hands. Eyes heavy-lidded, his tawny lashes threw long shadows over the broken line of his nose. He slid a palm over her collarbone, tracing the edge of the cuff. Following the dip of her waist and the rise of her hip, his palm rested on her outer thigh. He stilled. His head shot up and his gaze zeroed in on her Horsemen tattoo.
He caught her hand and flicked his tongue on the inside of her wrist. Trailing an invisible path up her forearm, he suckled on the sensitive skin of her inner elbow. She gave him a wobbly smile, and mouthed, “I love you.”
Crushing her beneath him, his lips sealed over hers for a searing kiss. His mouth pulled away and he professed, “Fuck, highness, you take my breath away.”
Cutter shimmied down the sofa and his tongue laved the healing tattoo of The Dark Horsemen morphing into the emblem of the Demon Squad. She’d asked Hoodie to design it, and he’d found a way to honor her past while embracing her future.
“Glad you approve.”
Cutter gave her a sharp glance.
“You got inked up without me. A man touched you without my permission.”
Greta shifted nervously, wetness gathering at the apex of her thighs.
“Sage was there with me the whole time.”
“Like I give a fuck. That’s gonna earn you a punishment.”
“Oh yeah?”
Cutter flipped her onto her stomach, pulled her hips up, and kneeled behind her.
“You’re looking too excited. Set this up on purpose, did you? Brace yourself ’cause it’s gonna be a long wait.”
A slap rained down on her flank and she sucked in a ragged breath. Massaging the raised flesh, he murmured, “Love you, babe.”
“Back at you. Now, show me,” she pleaded.
And, true to his word, he did.
