  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Adam Walker, also known as ‘Ocean Walker’, was brought up in Nottingham, England. A keen and competitive sportsman from an early age, he found ocean swimming at the age of twenty-eight, having not swum competitively for eight years and having no experience of long-distance swimming. Against all the odds, he has become one of the world’s best marathon swimmers.

Adam worked most of his life as a salesman for various blue-chip companies before setting up a swim-coaching business called ‘Ocean Walker’, teaching people to swim more efficiently and injury free with his unique and groundbreaking swim stroke, the ‘Ocean Walker technique’.

In demand as an MC at sports events, he is also an inspirational motivational speaker and is involved in a number of TV projects, currently hosting a documentary on dolphin intelligence. In 2014 he was appointed an ambassador of the Royal Life Saving Society to promote safe swimming, and as a passionate conservationist he is a patron of the charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation.

He has also been a spokesman for One Young World, which gathers together potential future leaders to promote positive change around the globe. He now lives in Newark, Nottinghamshire, with his girlfriend Gemma Clarke, a cat and two dogs.
