Hello Pumpkin!
Hope you’re having fun in the sun.
Quick question – just back from a showing at the Teddington house and wondering if you could explain why there appears to be a family of pink rabbits living in the shed?
Lots of love,
Dad xxx
Atkinson & Associates
Dear Mr Colton,
As per our conversation on August 16th regarding the termination of Madeline Fraser’s contract of employment, we will be representing Ms Fraser in this matter henceforth.
Following a thorough review of Ms Fraser’s case, we will be pursuing compensation from your company for unfair dismissal.
We look forward to discussing the matter further.
Yours sincerely,
Andrea Atkinson

Dear Ms Jacobs,
Please accept this email as notice of my resignation.
Thank you so much for the opportunities offered to me at Colton-Bryers but I have decided to pursue other opportunities outside of the company. Mostly because my manager is an unconscionable monster and I’m scared that she’s going to shaft me like she shafted Maddie. That or kill me in my sleep.
As per my contract, my last day will be next Friday. If I live that long.
Yours sincerely,
Sharaline Michaels

If I had to list everyone who dragged me kicking and screaming through this book, we’d be here all day and you’ve just read an entire book, so the last thing you want to do now is listen to me harp on. But without these people, there would never have been a book – I know I say that every time but in this instance, it’s very, very true.
Rowan Lawton, you’re not just an amazing agent, you’re an amazing human being. Literally couldn’t have coped without you. Lynne Drew and Martha Ashby – sorry and thank you and sorry and thank you and sorry and thank you, repeat ad nauseam. I promise to probably never do this to you again.
To everyone at HarperCollins, thank you so much, I owe you cupcakes and booze and I couldn’t be more grateful. Blaise, Georgie, Will, everyone at James Grant and Liane-Louise Smith (champion) at Furniss Lawton, thank you for being so impossibly tolerant. I don’t care how much stick I take at home for #TeamKelk, you’re f**king awesome.
There are a million people on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram who make my life easier but special shout outs go to my dead modern penpals, Lucy Robinson, Mhairi McFarlane and Rowan Coleman for reminding me we’re not just women writers, we’re women and we’re writers and we’re amazing. Well, you are, I’m mostly just tired. And falsely modest.
The last six months were the most difficult of my entire life and writing this book would have been impossible without the support, love and alcoholic beverages provided by these people: Della Bolat, Ryan Child, Kevin Dickson, Ilana Fox, Zainab Musa, Rosie Walsh, Terri White, Rachael Wright and Beth Ziemacki. This is a shit thank you, given what you gave me, I owe you all so much but can we start with a massive hug and go from there?
And thank you Jeff Israel for taking care of me, plying me with food and booze and generally being wonderful. It’s a hard job, but someone has to do it.
