“It is,” I said.
Jason looked at me. “I know this might sound kind of silly, but you do owe me a dance…. if we hurry we can still make it.”
I took his hand. “Hold on tight!” I told him.
We leaped into the air towards the school.
“Ah, that’s sweet,” I heard Tanya say.
“True, as long as she doesn’t lift her arms up or kick off her shoes and knock out the school!” Jessie said.
“Yeah, I had to remember that!”
Dear Diary: Wow! Wow! Wow! I was taken in and fooled big time. Yep, I let a cute face and amazing eyes convince me. I almost got pulled off the planet because of that. Heck, I almost got my city destroyed because of that. The good news is, I learned from my mistake. The better news is, my team came through for me. The best news is, I learned (which I should have already known), Jason always has my back; even when I don’t make it easy for him. Regardless of whether I’m making sensible choices or not, Jason will find a way to be there for me. I am one lucky girl! Oh, we also made over a thousand dollars. So I had to dance with three different boys (apart from Jason), but it was worth it!
Epilogue
That night after the dance, I joined Mom at home to watch her boyfriend, Oscar on the evening news. We were both feeling worn out. I kicked my shoes off and dropped Shep from two rooms away. Poor guy!
When Oscar appeared on the screen, he made a special announcement. “Tonight’s special guest is Lawyer Callie Hanson. Callie, like me, believes Super Teen should not be allowed to run unchecked! Her goal is to stop her.”
Mom turned to me. “Sorry about this honey.”
I looked at Mom and sighed. “I’m too tired to worry about this right now. That’s a problem for another day…. for now, let’s just be happy.” I knew that whatever the world or the universe threw at me, I would be ready!
