"Who is it Tae? I know you know who it is by now," I said getting up, walking to the dresser, and grabbing a lighter.
"I'll find out tonight. I don't know who the fuck they are," Tamar looked me up and down then took his stare to the floor.
"Can I have a cigarette please?"
"You smoking cancer sticks now?"
"Whatever I can to get my nerves under control. This is killing me."
Tamar reached in his pocket, pulled out a box of Newports and handed me one from the box.
"Yo, I wanted to apologize for the shit that went down the other night. I wasn't thinking clearly, pretty much blacked out. I shouldn't have shot at you like that and once all this is said and done I want us to sit down and talk about where this marriage is going," Tamar said.
"Tae, you got a baby on the way with my sister. My sister Tae. It's not just some random chick. That's my blood and what should be my niece or nephew and Tamarion's cousin is gonna end up being my stepchild and his damn sister or brother."
"I feel what you saying ma. I really do but at the same time you gotta feel me when I tell you had I known that was your fam I would've never laid down with her. And that's my fuckin’ word. Baby she told me her name was Diamond and that she was from New Jersey. As far as I knew she lived with her grandma and not her mama. You know I never met that side of your fam before, never seen any pictures none of that. The funeral we had before we found you Roz, they were not there and now I know why. I asked her to go with me but she kept talking about she didn't do funerals and all this other bullshit. Now I see it's ‘cause she knew Kevin would've been there and recognized her ass and ‘cause she knows you wasn't really dead," Tamar sighed. "Truthfully if I catch up to her, she's dead. I hate to harm my seed but the bitch sat there and watched me suffer, pretending to be there for me and all the while she knew what it really was."
"I don't think that killing her is going to solve anything," I puffed the cigarette then handed the short to Tae.
"One less snake in the grass and that's how I feel."
I know nothing I said would change the way Tamar felt about the whole situation hell he didn't even understand why I shed tears when I found out my mama was dead. It was like Tae had no heart at all at times; always thought that killing someone was the final answer. I understand that they've done me wrong but it still didn't change the fact that they were my family; I love them no matter what. I rather them suffer by the hands of God and not by my damn husband.
"Are you gonna forgive me or what? I know I said we'll talk later but I need to know now, it's all I've been thinking about besides bringing Tamarion home," Tamar said breaking me from my thoughts.
"If you can forgive me Tae for my wrongdoings then I can forgive you." I said.
"Are we gonna work on this marriage or what?"
"Tae I.."
Tamar stood up and closed the bedroom door and locked it. I wasn't sure what he was about to do but I was kind of scared being behind locked doors with him. He walked up towards me, picked me up, and laid me on the bed.
"I don't wanna hear that shit about your sister Roz, damn you did me wrong, I did you wrong so let's leave that shit in the past and move on. I know what I want and that's you and my fuckin’ son. Fuck Diamond or whatever the fuck her name is."
"Tae..I..." Tamar cut me off again, digging his tongue into my mouth and bringing my leg up around his waist. I let go and allowed him to explore my body like it was the first time he'd been there.
He brought his hands under my shirt and slid my panties off, tossing them to the floor. After planting his face in between my legs I was no longer bogged down with everything that was going on around me. For a moment I could allow myself to feel good knowing that everything would be okay.
"Mmmhh!" I moaned working my hips as Tamar feasted off my goodies. He wrapped his arms around my waist to keep me from moving while he sucked and sucked on my clitoris until I began to cry out. "Oh my God! Oh...ohhhhhh! Fuck! Ok, okay!"
Tamar came up from between my legs, pulled his pants waist side, and then slowly penetrated my center. "What you crying for?" Tamar laughed before deeply stroking me.
"You know why," I punched him in his chest, then pulled his face to mine. "I love you."
I locked my tongue with his and closed my eyes allowing ecstasy to once again take over everything I was feeling.
Tamar and I made love for the next couple of hours and for some reason I was feeling like this would be the last time I would see him. His touch had never felt so good; he has never been so gentle with me not even the first time we did it when he took my virginity.
"I hate to hit it and leave but I gotta get out here and try to find my shorty before I hand this money over to them. Main reason I stopped by was to talk to you and leave this money with you," Tamar said before putting on his shirt.
"Why are you leaving it with me?" I asked checking the bandages on my wound from where one of bullets Tae shot at me grazed my arm.
"Ma, that's 20 million dollars in cash in them two bags. I ain't trusting leaving that with nobody but you right now. I know you not about to let it out your sight knowing our son's life depends on it."
"Okay, yea you know I'm a keep a good eye on it. Matter fact put it in that closet," I said getting up and grabbing my panties from the floor. "Something don't feel right to me Tae. I think that maybe you should just chill out until it's time to meet up with them. What if something happens to you and you don't make it back in time or what if..."
Tamar laughed, "Chill out girl. I'm a be back on time; trust me. I'm not about to fuck this up. I just want to look around a lil’ more before I hand over my hard earned cash. That's a lot of fuckin’ money and if I can get him back without handing it over then I'll feel a whole lot better. I may even let them live; for a couple of days anyway."
"Just don't do nothing stupid that will get Marion hurt or yourself. Damn, I wish we could just call.."
"I told you no fuckin’ police! What you think I can't handle the shit on my own? I don't need the police to help me with shit!" Tamar yelled.
"Tamar I just got a funny feeling that something is gonna go wrong," I grabbed Tamar's arm as he tried walking out the room. "I'm not saying I don't think you can handle it ’cause I know you can. I just don't want anything to happen to you. That's all I'm saying."
"Ain't shit gonna happen to me," Tamar kissed me on my lips then headed for the two duffle bags after he realized he didn't put them in the closet. "I'm a be back, just hope when I come back it's with Tamarion and not to pick up the money."
"Okay, just...just be careful."
"I will. I love you ma, I'll see you later."
"Love you too."
I just hope that I do see you later. I thought as Tamar walked out of the room.
33 BRANDON
The Guilty
"Yes, I need to talk to somebody about an assault and a murder," I said to the police officer that was seated behind a large desk.
"Who is the assault against and who do you believe has been murdered?" she asked in a husky tone.
"The same person that murdered my fiancé Brittany Wilson is the same person that assaulted me."
"What is your name sir?" she asked finally seeming interested in why I was here after I mentioned Brittany's name.
"Brandon Hamilton," I sighed.
"Mr. Hamilton please have a seat and I'll have a detective come out to speak with you in a moment."
I took a seat in between two heavy set black women, one was rocking a black eye and swollen lip and the other was rocking back and forth, spilling tears onto the dingy floor. I sulked down in my chair after waiting for about an hour; parts of me wanted to turn around and not do the bullshit I was about to do but the constant pain in my face made me stay and continue to wait. After another thirty minutes, a short, fat Hispanic guy dressed in a suit and tie emerged from the back and stood at the desk talking to the lady officer that helped me.
"Mr. Hamilton," he turned around
and said.
I stood up from my seat and met him halfway, shaking his hand, and following him to the back where his desk was located.
"Mr. Hamilton thanks for coming in today. I'm Detective Hernandez and this is my partner Detective Bradley we'll be taking your statement today. The officer out front was explaining that you have info on the murder of Brittany Wilson. Is that correct?" Detective Hernandez asked.
"Yea, I umm...I know who killed her. It's the same person that assaulted me," I said taking a deep breath.
"I'm listening," Detective Hernandez grabbed a pen and a notepad ready to write everything down that I told him.
"His name is Tamar Andrews..."
"Andrews? The guy from the double homicide trial we had not long ago where the witness ended up murdered," Detective Hernandez's interest spiked even further. A big smile appeared on his face as he looked at his partner like they'd hit the lotto.
"Yes, that's him. I suspected that he'd done something to Brittany when she ended up missing but I wasn't so sure until the day he attacked me."
"How do you know Mr. Andrews? What's your relation to him?" Detective Bradley asked.
"He was sort of like a brother; we've been friends since I was about 10 years old. His mama and daddy adopted me and I've been in the family ever since. That's why I can't believe he would even do something like this," I sighed shaking my head. "This is all ’cause of his girl-friend, well now his wife, Rozalyn. I don't know if you are familiar with what happened to her. She was kidnapped a little over a year ago, and her body was found a few months ago not far from where Tamar lives but come to find out it wasn't really her. She was later found in Beijing."
"Yea, yea. I remember that, we still have the case open on the girl that was really murdered. We haven't been able to identify the body yet. Did Tamar have something to do with that also?" Detective Hernandez asked.
I cleared my throat before answering, "Yea, I’m certain that he did. He found out that me and her were fooling around and ’cause of it he set up her kidnapping and murder which fell apart when P.J., her stepmother's boyfriend decided not to kill her. So to cover his tracks he sent a couple of his guys out there to bring her home."
"So you're telling me that Tamar set up the whole kidnapping of his girlfriend? I don't get that, why would he do that?" Detective Bradley asked.
"Because he found out that his grandmother left him 27 million dollars in a trust fund. She sued a hospital back in the late 90's when her husband passed away for wrongful death and won. She kept a little money for herself, gave a little to all the boys and left the rest to Tamar. Being that his girlfriend was expecting a baby she would've been entitled to the money if something happened to him and when he found out that she slept with me he didn't want that so he had her kidnapped. I found out about the whole plot in Jamaica just recently and told my fiancé Brittany. She ran her mouth and told Rozalyn," I said looking between both detectives making sure they got every detail.
"Okay, what the hell were you doing in Jamaica?" Detective Hernandez sighed while looking at me.
"Still Tamar trying to cover everything up. He took Rozalyn to Jamaica to marry her knowing it wouldn't be legal in the states. He's planning to get rid of her and the child again before his trust fund is available in a few more months."
"Hell is wrong with this guy?" Detective Hernandez laughed slightly and wrote down everything I was telling him. Detective Bradley didn't seemed to be convinced as he leaned on the desk with his arms folded across his chest, twiddling a toothpick back and forth between his mouth.
"So tell us what you know about Brittany Wilson and her murder," Detective Bradley said uncrossing his arms then crossing them again.
"Well Rozalyn confronted Tamar about what Brittany told her and of course he denied it. Tamar then went to Brittany and told her about me and Rozalyn fuckin’ around and convinced Brittany that the only reason I was saying that he planned Rozalyn's kidnapping was because I was trying to get Rozalyn to be with me. Brittany and I got into it over what he told her; she stayed behind in Jamaica and I came home. After not hearing from her in a few days I contacted her parents and they said they hadn't heard from her either and that's when we decided it was best to report her missing. The morning she was found dead, I confronted Tamar and that's when he told me he strangled her with his bare hands ‘cause she threatened to go to the police about all the bullshit he did," I said allowing tears to fall down my swollen face.
I continued, "We ended up getting into a tussle and that's when he tried to smash my face in with a pistol. I thought I was dead...I don't know how I made it but I thank God that I did. He needs help, I don't know what's going on with him but he needs help."
"It's okay; you did the right thing by coming in here today. We're going to have an arrest warrant drawn up immediately and have Tamar brought down to the station. Don't worry, he'll be off the streets in no time," Detective Hernandez patted me on the shoulder giving me a reassuring look. He looked up at Detective Bradley and smiled. "We got this son of a bitch, we got him!"
Detective Bradley looked at me never missing a beat with the toothpick he held in his mouth, "Yes, you absolutely did the right thing. Let me give you my card and feel free to contact me if you can think of anymore information you may have about the case. Otherwise we will be in contact with you," Detective Bradley said holding out his hand for me to shake.
Something about this dude had me a little on edge but I tried to shake it off as him being the kind that didn't like his own people. I shook hands with both detectives and headed out the building to my car.
I was satisfied knowing that Tamar would be locked up for murdering Brittany and Rozalyn could be with me and not be scared about what Tamar would do to her.
34 TAMAR
Back from the Dead
It was going on one in the afternoon; Money and I been rolling the block hard since I left Rozalyn's side this morning. It was foggy, rainy, and ridiculously humid but I just had to find my lil’ one before six o'clock rolled around and I had to hand over a chunk of my hard work. 20 mil was a lot of fuckin’ money; I would pay double that if I had to just to get my son back but at the same time if I could get him back and still have my riches then it would be even better.
"Yea," I said answering the phone. Money was driving and I was sitting on the passenger side looking through every alley, abandoned warehouse, cracks in the damn sidewalk or whatever that just didn't look right looking for my pops and them. I know they around somewhere and it was only a matter of time before I found them.
"Tamar, I just got a call from my source and he's saying that your name came up on an arrest warrant. Every cop in the city is looking for you," Kari said over the phone.
"Fuck you mean? An arrest warrant? For what?" I asked.
"This information just got back to me; you haven't heard anything about it?"
"Nah, this the first I'm hearing about a damn warrant...." I pulled the phone away from my ear after hearing the line beep for another call. "Yo, Kari good looking out, I got another call and I'm quite sure they calling about the same thing. I'll hit you back in a minute."
"Cool baby be safe," Kari hung up on her end and the second call automatically came through.
"Yo Bradley what’s this I'm hearing about an arrest warrant for me. Fuck they trying say I did now."
"Yea, I tried calling you on your other line but couldn't get through. Your boy just gave me your number. But the whole damn force is hot on your ass so I suggest you get out of town quickly."
"I can't do that Bradley. I got some real live shit going on right now. I can't leave fuckin’ town, and leave town for what my hands are clean!" I sighed confused as to why the city of Miami felt the need to fuck with me again knowing I had a law suit pending from the last stunt they pulled.
"I can't say much over the phone all I know is that you're wanted for the murder of Brittany Wilson," Detective Bradley said.
"What?" I yelled. "Yo, I need you to fuckin
 meet me right now!"
"Do you know how hot you are right now? Every damn officer in the city is looking for you! Every last one of them, if I'm..."
"I don't give a fuck who looking for me. Meet me at the Van Dyke cafe off Lincoln and Jefferson Ave in 15 minutes! Nigga be there or them nice little checks you getting every month will be cut the fuck out!" I hung up the phone furious and heated. How the hell do they figure I murdered Brittany? I never laid hands on that bitch; barely ever saw or spoke to her. She ain't never did shit to me so why in the hell would I need to kill her.
"What's going on?" Money asked making a sharp u-turn in the middle of the road.
"I'll put you on game in a minute," I said looking through my call log and dialing Keylan's number. After allowing it to ring a couple of times I hung up. I still felt a lil’ ill bout the whole situation. This nigga had two fuckin’ opportunities to handle my brother and he passed them up ‘cause he had his heart on his damn sleeve.
"Police put out a warrant for my arrest saying I murdered Brittany," I sighed.
"What? Where the fuck they get that shit from? That's not even making since to me right now," Money said pulling in front of the Cafe.
"Not making since to me either but I'm about to find out what's going on," I jumped out the truck once Detective Bradley pulled up. I headed inside the Cafe to the very back taking a seat at one of the empty tables. Detective Bradley looked around a few times before joining me.
"You need to be leaving town, sitting in the middle of the fuckin’ city talking to me is the last thing you should be doing right now," Detective Bradley said pretending to look at a menu.
"I don't have a reason to leave town. I ain't fuckin’ murder nobody, where the fuck you getting this info from? Yo, you need to call them off. I got shit I need to handle today and I can't do it wasting my time in no fuckin’ interrogation room over some shit I ain't do!" I yelled.
