“And in the end, when all her other options had been taken away from her, she did what she needed to do for her child,” I added.
Matt slid his hand over to cover mine. “Thank you, Kay. Thank you for being a nosy busybody and bringing all this to light. Now I know just how brave my grandmother really was, and what she was willing to sacrifice for my mom.”
And now I had a beautiful piece of dining room furniture without a ghost, and the satisfaction that my nosy busybody self had helped a restless spirit find peace. I pulled my hand out from under Matt’s and away from the grave stone, smiling up at him. “Want to grab a quick cup of coffee before I have to go to work?”
He smiled back. “Absolutely. And no matter what you say, I’m calling it a date.”
