Alpha Ever After

I pick my head up to kiss him. When I started this whole crusade, my only mission was to save my pack. To find such a deep and passionate love is more than I deserve, but I’m not about to question the happiest moment of my life.
I’m in love, and I plan to never let go of this feeling or this man.
Epilogue
Anson
It’s been a few days since we defeated Flint. Things settled really nicely between the two clans. I was surprised at how quickly we all integrated. Given our history, I had thought it would take a lot longer than a few days for the Staymans to welcome the Mathises, but everyone has had open arms. It ended up being a win/win for both packs.
We have more people to protect our land, which has been getting bigger and bigger over time. It’s probably part of the reason why Flint was able to sneak his way in. There was so much to look over, and I started letting things fall through the cracks. It’s something I’ve finally been able to admit to myself, after much reflection. So, I’m happy to have extra help in protecting our lands and our people.
The Mathis pack likes to have a more stable situation. They’ve been a more nomadic clan for some time. Having access to all of our resources has made them very happy.
I’m just glad I get to watch over this new chapter in our lives.
And today is a particularly joyous one for me. Luna and I are having our mate ceremony. We did one for Pax and Mini, as well as Tamir and Kenzie. I felt it was the least I could do after treating them both so poorly. All my nephews did was try and look out for the pack. I’m glad I was able to come to my senses before it was too late.
There are still quite a few things to worry about. We haven’t really gotten started on going through our library. That big project is planned for after all the mating ceremonies. I put Pax in charge of it. I’m finally allowing him to start digitizing things – a new word he taught me – and we’ll start learning about everything in those books. It’s been kind of weird getting used to technology on the compound. Pax has been teaching me as much as I can handle, which isn’t very much. The old adage about old dogs has stuck around for so long because there is some truth to it. I’m sure with practice, I’ll get used to computers and stuff.
Another issue is Beau. I know he’s been on Luna’s mind. She hasn’t brought him up too much, but there hasn’t been word. I sent out a few wolves to see if they could sniff anything out, but Beau’s trail has gone cold. I didn’t tell Luna this because I didn’t want to cause her extra worry. She already knows her brother is missing, no need to dogpile on top of that. I’m sure he’ll pop up when he’s ready. I hope he does. He’s probably still licking his wounds and needs time to recover his ego. I understand the feeling.
I don’t want to think about those things, though. Today is all about Luna and me, making our love official. I actually didn’t expect to be this excited for my mating ceremony. I know I was always talking to Pax and Tamir about their mates, but it wasn’t something I gave too much thought about when it came to myself. Maybe it was because I knew Tamir would take over for me.
Luna is beyond anything I expected. She’s perfect and beautiful and all-around amazing.
“Hey! What’s taking you so long?” Pax pops his head into my room. His brother isn’t too far behind him.
“I’m trying to look good for my woman. I’m just not very used to it.”
Usually, we don’t get this overblown with the mating ceremonies, but there’s a lot to celebrate. It is a pretty big deal when the alpha finds a mate, plus we’ve just had a great victory. There’s going to be a hell of a party tonight.
“Okay, okay. Let me help you. I watched a YouTube video on ties.” What the hell is Pax talking about? He must see my confusion because he smiles. “Someone showed me how to do it. I can help.”
I let Pax put my tie on for me. He’s so much more adept at tying the thing. This is actually my first time wearing one of these. Werewolves like to keep their clothing pretty simple. Everything is for comfort, so we don’t have much use for the extra frills humans put on their appearance, but Mini got into Luna’s head about weddings and such. She hinted that she wanted to wear nicer clothes, so I had Pax go with his mate to get everything we would need from a nearby town.
It’s been interesting, to say the least.
“Thanks, Pax.” He’s finished up, and I look at myself in the mirror. It’s strange being in these clothes, but I’d do anything for Luna. Plus, I heard that she’s going to be in a lovely dress. Mini showed me some pictures as a tactic to persuade me to agree to this whole thing. It was all unnecessary because I was ready to say yes the second Luna asked.
It was kind of fun having the girls working so hard to convince me.
“You’re ready to go and meet your mate?” Tamir asks.
“Yeah, let’s do this.”
I pat my nephews on their backs, and the three of us head downstairs. Everyone is already gathered. I take my spot at the end of the pathway. I can’t see Luna yet, but my guess is that she’s already at her place. I can hear people talking, whispering about how beautiful she looks. I tried to see her before the ceremony, but Kenzie and Mini wouldn’t let me anywhere near her, saying that the dress was meant to be a surprise. I don’t understand any of it, but it’s what we’re doing, so I went along.
Everyone goes quiet, meaning it’s time to start. I get the signal to walk and head towards the altar. As I get closer, I see Luna on the other side. She’s in an all white dress that makes her look even more ethereal. I can’t believe I’m about to marry such a wonderful and powerful woman. I don’t know if this sounds weird, but I am honored that she chose to be my mate.
We get to the altar, and one of the elders guides us through the ceremony. It’s a straightforward thing with only a few words said. That’s the beauty in the mating ceremony. We’ve added quite a bit of fanfare, but it hasn’t taken away from the core of what we are doing.
Luna and I join hands, doing the traditional walk around the altar. The altar has been around since the beginning of our pack. I have no idea how old it is exactly, but I do know it’s been around for quite some time.
Once we’re done, the entire pack cheers. I kiss Luna, and she wraps her arms around me. In the bliss, I pick her up, spinning her around. Her hold tightens on me. She screams at the sudden movement, but they quickly turn into giggles.
I do a few turns before placing Luna back on the ground beside me. She stays holding onto me while I face the pack.
“It’s time to celebrate! Let’s party!” I yell.
They erupt into even more cheers, and we all head over to the huge firepit. Rolf lights it up, and the thing roars. The music comes on, and people pair off to dance. The drinks start flowing and, soon, most of the pack is feeling the alcohol.
I spend the night dancing with Luna. I do get to some other people like my nephews and even one with Luna and Kenzie. The day blends into night, and the party continues to rage on.
I’m getting a little tired from all of this partying. It’s what’s been going on for days since it’s been mating ceremony after mating ceremony. I’m not saying I don’t have the stamina, but this kind of day after day party is more appealing to a younger man.
Luna and I are sitting at one of the long tables. I lean over and kiss her cheek.
“Do you wanna go for a run?”
“Yeah,” she nods.
I take her hand, and the two of us sprint away from the pack. I say good night to a few people we pass on the way but keep them nice and short. I want to get my mate out of here, so we can spend alone together.
We shift into wolf form and go for this run. I love how she looks as a wolf, her white fur sparkles in the moonlight. She really is absolutely perfect. I feel like I’m always thinking about her beauty, but she entrances me, and all I can do is stare at her.
We get to a clearing and put our wedding clothes back on. I haphazardly redo the tie because I didn’t really learn how Pax did it. Once we’re done, I
look over at Luna. Her dress hugs her body so tightly, it’s absolutely perfect for her.
“What is it?”
“Why did we get dressed?” She’s smiling like the idea is funny. Which it is because we’re probably about to rip them all of again.
“I don’t know,” I shrug.
“Well, why don’t you get undressed?” Her eyes go down my body as she says it.
I love to please Luna, so her wish is my command. I pull on the tie. The knot easily comes undone, and I throw the tie on the ground. Next, I do the dress shirt, undoing the buttons slowly. Luna lets out a long sigh as I pull the shirt off of my shoulders.
“Is this what you wanted?” She nods. “Should I keep going?” She nods again. I pull off the undershirt. Next, I undo my belt and undo my button.
“Wait.”
I stop what I’m doing, holding my hands just above my pants. “I wanna do that.” She pushes herself off the ground and comes over to me. When she’s standing right in front of me, her hands go to my unbuttoned pants. Instead of pushing my pants down, she slides her hand into my underwear, brushing her fingers along my shaft.
“Fuck,” I sigh. She’s taking a slow and torturous approach.
“I love the way you feel, Anson. When I touch you, when you’re on top of me, inside of me – every inch of you feels like paradise.”
“You feel better, baby.”
Luna gets up on her toes and places a quick peck on my lips before biting down on my bottom lip. Her fingers begin to move faster and faster. She keeps her face close to mine, our breath mixing together.
I can’t take it any longer. I need my hands to be on her in some way, shape, or form.
I grab onto Luna’s arms. She stops moving her hand in my pants. I spin her around, granting myself access to her zipper. Slowly, I pull it down, getting it all the way down before pushing the sleeves off of her shoulders. The fabric pools at her feet, and she steps out of it.
Her smooth skin calls to me, and I place my lips at the tip of her shoulder. Her hands come up and tangles in my hair. I continue to kiss along her shoulders and neck.
I bring my hand up to her breast, massaging it for a few seconds before bringing a hand down her stomach and into her lacy panties.
“Where did you get these? They seem new.”
“Mini thought I should have some lingerie for today.” Luna sounds a little meek. I love being able to make her feel shy.
“You should thank her for me,” I mumble against her skin.
I take my fingers a few inches deeper into her panties, hooking my hand into her folds. She bucks against me, but I hold her up. She moans as I move my fingers around inside of her. I keep going, egged on by the lustful sounds coming out of her throat.
“Anson,” she whines.
I push my fingers deeper inside her, all the way to the knuckle. Her juices drip down my hand as she shudders against my body. When she’s done, I wipe the hair that has stuck to the sweat on her forehead.
“How are you feeling?”
“Amazing,” Luna breathes. She spins around to face me, placing her hand on my cheek before kissing me. “We need to get you out of these pants.”
I agree. In a flurry of hands, Luna gets me out of my pants and underwear. I also manage to get her naked. We fall into the grass together, Luna on top of me. I run my hands up and down her back as we make out.
“I love you, baby.”
“I love you, too,” she responds.
I roll us around so she’s underneath me. Luna wraps her limbs around me, pressing our bodies together. I slide my dick into her, her pussy taking all of me. She throws her head back as I get deeper and deeper. It’s so easy for me to get lost in her. I can see why my nephews were so fiercely loyal to their mates, even though they were virtual strangers before. I understand it all now.
“Don’t stop, Anson. Don’t stop!” Luna begs.
I move my pelvis faster, wanting to make her feel as good as she makes me feel. My muscles strain as I hold my body above hers. Luna’s grip on me grows tighter and tighter. Her nails dig into my skin.
“Anson, I’m going to,” she cuts herself off with her own scream.
My orgasm comes not too much time later, seed shooting out of me and into her. She holds me down with her legs, taking every last inch of pleasure from my body.
When I’m spent, I collapse on top of her, making sure not to put the full weight of my body on hers. A few seconds later, I roll off of her, lying down beside my mate. I turn my head, so my cheek is in the grass, and I can look directly at her. Luna does the same.
“Are you happy?” I ask her.
“Yeah. I’m so happy I could burst. It’s a lot of feelings, but all of them are good.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah!”
I still cannot believe the circumstances that led to this very moment. It was definitely a hard road to get here, but I wouldn’t change a single moment because, without all of those moments, I would not such a magnificent and beautiful lady lying right beside me.
“We’re in this together, baby.”
“Together,” Luna echoes.
Whatever the future holds, we’ll get through it, side by side.

Chapter One
Mini
“If you’re not going to listen to my rules while living under my roof, then you can get out!”
The door slams after my mom’s harsh words. I want to yell back about all the ways she hasn’t earned my respect, but it isn’t even worth it. It’s been years of this bullshit, and no matter how many times I tell her that she can’t treat me like I’m lower than dirt, she keeps doing it. It’s not like getting the last word is going to change anything.
So much for home is where the heart is.
I’m standing on the porch, looking at all the road ahead of me. Momma made it very clear that I’m not welcome back in her house, which means there is no turning back. I take a deep breath and look forward.
Well, then, it looks like I’m outta there. I’m eighteen, so there’s nothing my mom can do about me leaving, and it sounds like that is exactly what she wants anyway. I’ve packed my backpack with as much as I could and stepped out. I literally can’t believe that she wants me to take a job as a housecleaner at the local motel. I know I can do so much better.
But my mother was going on and on about how no one in our family has ever gotten out of Renton, South Carolina, and why do I think that I am any different, and blah, blah, blah. She called me haughty for thinking I’m better than this town. It is total bullshit.
Renton’s a crap town where nothing ever happens. Nothing good that is. No one worth a damn stays here. Maybe that sounds harsh, but I don’t care. I’ve lived here for eighteen long years, and the only thing Renton has given me is anger and sadness.
“Fuck you!” I yell back towards the house that is no longer my home. There’s so much anger coursing through my veins, and I want to get it out. No one answers, so I turn on my heels and head down the long dirt road that I’ve taken to and from school for most of my life.
Hours pass, and the sun gets bright overhead. I don’t even know how long I’ve been walking for. It feels like my mother was just calling me a disappointment two seconds ago, but I’ve been walking on this long stretch of uninhabited road for a while. I mean, I can barely see my old home in t
he distance.
It’s hot, and it’s humid from the recent rains, making the road a muddy mess I have to pick my way through. I’m thirsty. I know I’m being a total dumbass, but there’s no way I’m going back.
Everyone in my family is way too content with staying in our middle of nowhere town, not doing a damn thing to change their circumstances. I can’t comprehend it. But that’s not my problem anymore. I’m walking away, and I’m never going back. They’ll never see me again, and that is fully their fault.
“I hope you’ll all be happy,” I mumble to myself. I’m not going to worry about my family or what they are doing anymore. Why should I care about them? It’s not like they ever really cared about me.
What I do need to worry about is the fact that I don’t have a single penny to my name. I ran out of the house so fast that I didn’t bother to grab any cash. Not that I had much to begin with, but I could have gotten a bit of a leg up with the tiny stash I had.
But I so adamantly decided that I am never going back to that den of complacency. It would be the ultimate sign of weakness if I turned around and walked back inside. I’d rather eat a bucket of nails. Which means I’ll need to find another way to get myself out of this predicament. But that’s something I can figure that out once I get to the bus station. If I can get to the bus station.
I’m sure someone will find it in their heart to help ‘little ‘ole me.’ If I put on the right amount of ditz and charm, I can usually get my way. Then it shouldn’t be too hard to get a waitressing job or something to make some quick cash before actually starting out this grand plan of mine: Whatever it is. I feel like I’ll end up in the city. I want to be somewhere where things happen. After eighteen years of living in the slowest moving town, I want a more fast-paced life filled with excitement.
I hear what sounds like a car coming up from behind me. There hasn’t been anyone on this road for a while, so I turn around, curious. It’s a blue corvette, and it’s going a lot faster than I had anticipated, splashing through the puddles. I try to get myself out of the way, not wanting any water to get splashed up on me, but I’m too slow, and the car speeds past me. I’m close enough for the passing wind it makes to push me off balance. I do my best to keep myself upright, but my backpack is heavy enough to pull me down, and I hit the mud with a heavy thud.
