  Prologue Part 1. That Night

“Put it in for me. I can’t do it,” East whined. “It’s too big, Yeshi.”

Yeshi looked down between them and pushed harder. “I’m trying. Move your hand so I can see better. Fucking hole shouldn’t be this small anyway.”

East tried to hide her smile as she watched him bite his lip and push harder.

“You must don’t know what you’re doing.”

Yeshi looked at her with a slight frown on his face. “If you’ll be quiet, I can focus.”

East moved her hands completely and watched him. If he said he could fit it in, she’d let him try his best. She didn’t mind a struggle; that only made for a better taste in the end. Her eyes roamed over his chest, pausing at the muscles popping out the arms of his shirt. She didn’t know what was the better view, his body or the way his face changed the harder he pushed.

“Fuck it, you’re just going to have to drink it flat. I can’t get this damn cork back in this shit.” Yeshi tossed the raggedy brown cork onto the dresser and walked away.

East’s laughter serenaded them both as she grabbed a napkin and pushed it into the opening of her wine bottle. She’d been trying for the past few minutes to push the cork back inside but had failed. When Yeshi offered, she assumed he knew what he was doing, but he’d been just as bad as her.

“You give up too easy,” East taunted while walking back to the bed.

“I’m too drunk to be fighting with that shit.”

The light brown facial hair decorating Yeshi’s mouth lay smoothly against his chin and jaw bone. Neatly lined and softly textured with just enough shine to make you notice it. The sparkling black diamonds in his ear and chains matched the large, black Audemars watch sitting just below the silver bracelet on his wrist. Since he was slouched back in the chair, his small gut was more visible through his shirt, giving way to the glistening of his jewels tossed carelessly across his stomach.

While the arm she’d just been marveling lay across his beginner beer belly, the other rested casually behind his head as he lay back with his eyes closed. It was nearing six o’clock in the morning, and East was still in the company of the totally drunken stranger. It had been hours since they’d been secluded together, and oddly enough, East was okay with that.

Initially, she’d been skeptical about being alone with Yeshi due to the uncertainty of his motives, but the more they hung out, the more transparent he became. He was a cool dude with a comical personality. His protectiveness and overbearing personality was something she’d have to get accustomed to, but other than that, he’d been pretty good company.

“I know you ain’t sleep that fast?” East disturbed the perfectly peaceful silence of the expensive hotel room that she’d been chilling in with him for the past two hours.

“Nope.” Yeshi’s pink lips parted just a tad as he smiled lazily.

Eyes still closed and posture just the same, he licked his lips and scratched his head with the long fingers dangling near his ear and eyebrows.

“I don’t know how you’re not. You’ve been drinking way too much to still be awake.”

East looked around the room, head swimming too much to consider normal, and nodded. He was right, she had. Which was why she’d stopped a little over an hour ago. At first, she’d been drinking as much as she could stand to simply numb the nagging pain in her gut, but that feeling had died long ago. The moment she’d felt her body preparing to hurl the unwanted contents of her stomach, she slowed her roll.

“I’m trying to wait on Killian, but clearly, he doesn’t plan to come back.”

Yeshi stretched his body. His long limbs were everywhere as he sat back some in his seat. He too had been drinking like a beat down alcoholic, but it didn’t look to have fazed him one bit. Well, not since he’d woken up from his nap. He had been sleeping for a couple of hours while she and Killian roamed the city, and it had clearly done him some good. He looked a lot better than he had before they’d left.

“He’ll be back. Just go to sleep. When you wake up, he’ll be here.”

East narrowed her eyes in his direction. Since his eyes were still closed, there was no need to make any particular faces that he wouldn’t see anyway.

  “I’m not five, Yeshi.”

  “Never said you were.”

“That line of bull crap you just told me makes me think otherwise.” East stood from the bed and walked into the bathroom.

Her bladder was full, and she could probably urinate a river if asked to. All the drinks she’d consumed were weighing uncomfortably on her. The moment she sat down to relieve herself, she felt a hint of her sobriety returning. Unfortunately, it had only been a feeling. Her world began to spin once again the second she stood to her feet. East flushed the toilet and fixed her clothes the best she could while barely maintaining her balance.

“Dammit,” she cursed after stumbling and falling into the wall.

“You good in there?” Yeshi called from the other side of the door.

East refused to answer him. She was embarrassed enough. Even with him not being able to see her, the shame she felt was immeasurable. Yeshi may not have been her man, but he was a man. A fine one at that. To make herself look like a fool in front of him had not been on her list for the night’s events.

Knocking sounded on the door. Clearly, her not answering him had been the wrong thing to do because the next thing she knew, the bathroom door was opening. Yeshi stuck his head in the door, and his eyes found her. He studied her leaning on the bathroom wall for balance.

  “You fell?”

East’s head made a movement between telling him yes and no.

“Which one was it? You did, or you didn’t?”

“Both. I stumbled, but I didn’t fall all the way.” East stood completely on her feet. “I guess I’m drunker than I thought.”

“I could have told you that. I knew you were too small to manage all that straight liquor you’ve been drinking tonight.”

East sucked her teeth and turned to the sink to wash her hands. “Why do you keep saying that? I’m fine. You drank just as much as I did.”

“You can’t compare yourself to me. I’m a heavyweight, you, on the other hand, my dear, are not.”

East rolled her eyes at him through the mirror. “Fuck you.”

Yeshi chuckled and pushed the bathroom door open all the way. “Just bring your drunk ass out of this bathroom.”

East ignored him and continued washing her hands until she was ready to move. The walk past him was a tough one since she was doing everything in her power not to fall again. She could feel his judgmental eyes on her waiting for another slip up, but she was determined not to give him one. Even with her legs feeling like noodles and her head like a fish tank, East made her way to the bed.

“Aye, you sure you good? I can go grab you something if you need me to.”

East held her hand up and shook her head.

“I’m fine. I’ll be good once I get
some sleep.”

Moments later, Yeshi was back in his chair and looking at her. “What are you waiting for? Take you a nap.”

East kicked her shoes from her feet and yawned before lying back on the bed. “I have to wait for Killian.”

Yeshi stretched back out in his chair and nodded. “That’s cool, but I already told you if you’d just go to sleep and wake up, he’ll be here.”

East shook her head and closed her eyes. It felt so good to close her eyes, but that was another thing that didn’t last long. Her world began to spin faster and faster the longer she held her eyes closed. Before long, she had to open them right back up. In an attempt to make herself feel better, East circled her stomach with her arm.

“For real, li’l mama, you might need to let me get something for you.”

“The only thing I want is Killian. If you can go pry that nigga off his bitch, then I’ll be straight. Until you can do that, just leave me be.”

Yeshi cleared his throat. “Why you say that? That man ain’t doing nothing like that.”

“Tell me why else would he be gone this long just to get food? I’m drunk, but I’m not blind. It doesn’t take two hours to go to McDonald's.”

“The city is busy this weekend.”

East didn’t even bother to respond. Yeshi was Killian’s friend. He was supposed to cover for him. If he didn’t then there’d be something wrong.

  “You tried calling him?”

Again, East ignored him. Of course, she’d tried calling him. Too many times to still not have gotten an answer. She would happily label herself a fool if she still believed that Killian was somewhere eating. He probably is eating… some pussy. East’s stomach flipped at her thoughts.

“Yeshi, do you have a girlfriend?”

“Nope, I don’t want one of those.”

East snickered as she sat up in the bed. She crossed her legs and stared at him. Once again, he was laid back in the chair with the length of his body stretched out. Since his hand was covering his eyes and the top part of his nose, the only thing that East could see was the deep, dark waves in his head. They turned in a full circle while his plump lips hung slightly open.

East twisted her mouth to the side as she sat and watched him with no reservations. He couldn’t see her, so there was no need to hide.

  “Why not?”

  “Y’all cause too much drama.”

  “How you figure?”

Yeshi removed his hand and looked at her. “Look at me now. I’m supposed to be at a party, drinking my life away with some of my closest friends, but look at me. I’m here with you, babysitting for my nigga.”

The fuck? East’s eyebrow rose in question. “Babysitting? Nigga, you’re not babysitting me.”

Yeshi scratched his ear nervously. Clearly noting that he’d said the wrong thing. “That’s not what I meant.”

East quickly stood from the bed. “Yes, the hell it is. You’re babysitting me while that nigga tricks off.”

The vile taste of vomit coated her cheeks as she covered her mouth in route to the bathroom. It was coming with a vengeance, and she needed to let it out before she choked or puked all over herself. The toilet lid slammed against the back of the toilet at the same time her head dipped. An array of gurgling noises took over the bathroom as she relieved herself of the night’s poison.

Long fingers grazed up and down her back as East bent over the porcelain throwing her guts up. Seconds later, the weight of a man rested next to her. Yeshi’s knees touched her shoulder as he made himself comfortable on the side of the expensive bathtub.

“Get ou—” East shooed him away the best she could before more vile remnants spewed from her mouth.

Yeshi didn’t bother to say anything. Instead, he stayed seated next to her, rubbing up and down her back. East wished he would go away and stop watching her, so she could look disgusting in private.

After what felt like forever, she was finally finished and scooting backward against the wall. In no time, Yeshi was out of his spot on the tub, flushing the toilet, and grabbing a washcloth. He wet it before squatting down in front of her.

East’s eyes fluttered as he gently washed her mouth. When he was finished, he picked her limp body up from the floor and carried her back into the bedroom. Her body was placed softly on the cool sheets before being covered with another one.

  “Go to sleep.”

“I don’t want to. I want to talk.”

Yeshi raised one of his eyebrows. “About?”

  East shrugged. “Anything.”

Yeshi’s eyes shifted around the room as he stretched his arms again before sitting back down on the bed next to her. With his back to the headboard and her head resting on the pillow near his elbow, they were able to make eye contact. East’s eyes squinted as she watched him make himself comfortable.

“You’re really nice, you know that?” East questioned.

Yeshi’s smile was so pretty it made East want to smile. He slowly wiped his hand over his face, pulling at the short hair on his chin along the way.

  “I’m just me.”

“You’ve been looking out for me all night when you don’t even know me.”

“I know you’re my patnah’s girl, so that’s all I need to know.”

  “I bet you’re a good boyfriend.”

“Nah.” Yeshi shook his head. “I’m not.”

He handed her the bottle of water that had been on the dresser, and she drank the entire thing without stopping.

Once she finished, she scooted lower in the bed, pulling the covers around her neck. “Why not?”

“Because I never treat my women right. I tend to fuck up more than anything because of my own personal demons.”

That comment caught East’s attention, but she didn’t want to probe too far. The quiet seconds that floated between them was weighed down with assumptions and questions, but that was eventually put to an end. East was too nosey to leave well enough alone. If he got offended, she’d just blame it on the alcohol.

“What kind of demons do you have?”

Yeshi’s tongue pushed around the inside of his cheek as he leaned his head to one side before looking down at her. When their eyes met, the intensity between them shifted the aura of the room. It had been chill and friendly all night, but something about the way he was staring at her heightened the seriousness of their space. In the back of her mind, East knew she should probably look away before he leaned in and kissed her or something cliché like that, but she didn’t. Something in her wanted him to do just that.

“The kind that makes me intolerable.”

  “Intolerable?”

“Yeah, I ruin relationships and shit because I can’t control myself.”

East pushed the covers away from her body a bit. His stare was making her hot. She pushed the covers just below her breasts before looking back at him. His eyes were no longer on her face. They were lower. East followed them back to her body. It was just her luck that she’d had a nip slip. The corner of her nipple was spilling over the fabric of her dress and playing peek-a-boo with her man’s homeboy.

East moved to cover it but couldn’t because Yeshi’s head was in the way. He’d moved toward her body at the same time she tried to pull her dress up. His wet tongue grazed the top of her breasts before swirling down to the part of her nipple that was showing. East gasped. It felt sinfully good.

“Yeshi,” she forced out, barely audible.

His head moved around slowly as his tongue twisted and pulled at her nipple. East’s hand went to the back of his head the moment his hand pushed her dress down allowing both of her girls to spring free. Yeshi immediately sat back some so that he could see them. East thought he was going to stop for a minute, but she was wrong. His hands were on both of them, massaging and rubbing wherever his mouth was not.

A deep sigh left East’s mouth as she shifted in the bed so that she was on her back. Her hand found its way back to the back of his head. She rubbed up and down the back o
f his neck before stopping. Her hand stilled him for the first time in minutes. His eyes rose to her in question. When she pulled him toward her mouth, he came willingly.

Yeshi’s tongue felt so good inside her mouth as he kissed her passionately. His eyes were closed, and his hands were busy groping her body beneath the covers. East wanted so badly to not like what was going on or at least have the willpower to stop it, but she didn’t. It felt too good. He felt too good.

“East, if we keep this up, I’m going to have sex with you. You have to stop me, ma.”

East heard him and ignored him just the same. He was talking too much when all she wanted to do was keep kissing.

“East,” he pulled away again and looked down at her.

“What, Yeshi? Be quiet and just kiss me.”

Yeshi nodded and lowered himself back onto her. The pressure of his full body on top of hers was even better than before. The hardness of his body made the softness of her feel even softer. East’s hands were all over him, touching and pulling at his clothes wildly.

“Fucking, East, open your legs.” Yeshi’s voice had changed tremendously.

It was deeper and a lot raspier than it had been before. He was hovering over her body with desire etched all over his face. The succulent pink lips she’d been teasing herself with all night taking her that much further into her deception. East rubbed her hands all over his face as he looked down at her, waiting for her to open up to him.

“Is this how you ruin relationships?”

Yeshi’s head fell forward, dropping so that all she could see were the waves in the top. East waited for him to raise it again, so she could see his eyes, but when he did, she wished she hadn’t. The tortured look that he wore gave her shivers. The darkness behind his eyes was too deep for her to dive into and come out alive, so she didn’t. She looked away and shimmied her way to the edge of the bed and out of his grasp. She was just about to escape when his hand caught her wrist. East looked over her shoulder apprehensively.

  “You don’t want me?”

  East’s mouth grew dry.

“You know what, don’t answer that. Just lay back down.”
