Gluttony (The Seven Deadly #1) Page 13

by Cassie May

“Cara, are you still there?” Matteo’s voice is soft, almost caring and I smile.

“Yes, yes I am. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked. You are right, of course. Did you get my baked surprise?”

He laughs quietly which makes my grin spread even wider. “Yes, that was the reason I called, actually. Thank you very much for that. They made my evening really great.”

“You are welcome. I hope tomorrow there will be panettone left for you.”

His chuckles warm my heart. “You don’t have to send me sweets every day, cara. I love the things you bake, but if you keep feeding me like this I will get fat and I can’t have that.”

“Well, you could always come over here to burn some of that calories on my bed, you know.” My voice sounds husky and absolutely sexed up while my brain tries to take it all back. Where did that sexual innuendo come from?

“Cara, I would like nothing more than come over to you right now and make you come all over my tongue or cock, but it is too dangerous. I don’t want to lead more danger to your doorstep than is already there. Soon. Soon I will have solved everything and then I am going to take you on a long vacation. Only for us. I promise.” He is now breathing heavier and I picture him stroking his cock while listening to me talk.

“What are you doing right now, Matteo?”

“Are you sure you want to know, cara?” His voice is deeper now and I stroke my breasts through my shirt and bra.

“Yes, yes I want to know.” I sound breathless now and I am sure he has noticed.

“I am laying in my bed and stroking my cock.” There. Just like this I am on fire. I feel heat spreading from my pussy through my whole body all the while I am pushing up my shirt to feel the naked skin on my breasts. I push my bra down and pinch my nipples which are already standing at attention.

“I would love to do that for you, Matteo.” Am I really having phone sex right now? Is this really me talking on the phone? Seems as if meting a mobster has been good for me.

His painful groan tells me I am obviously good at phone sexing. “Cara, please tell me that you are playing with yourself right now.”

Pinching my nipples I moan loudly. “Fuck, yes, I am playing with my breasts right now.”

“Take your clothes off, cara. Feel all of that beautiful soft skin.” Scrambling I do as he tells me and get rid of everything but my panties.

“I am only wearing my panties now. Are you stroking that thick cock?”

Another groan sounds. “You know I do, cara. Now put your finger in your panties and tell me how wet you are.” This is so hot. I never would have thought that phone sex could turn me on like this, but it does.

Dipping my fingers in my panties I already feel the heat of my pussy before I am touching it. I know I must be dripping wet and confirm it with a touch to my throbbing clit. My moan is pornstar worthy and I suddenly wonder if the others can hear me. The thought vanishes when Matteo starts speaking again. “Tell me how wet you are, cara. I need to hear it.”

“It’s dripping over my fingers when I touch myself. You make me so wet, Matteo. I wish you would be here to fuck me.” My voice is only a hoarse whisper and I can barely string together two coherent words.

“Are you close, Val? Because I am and I don’t want to come alone.” His raspy whisper is almost enough to send me over the edge and I push my clit to fuel the fire that burns in me.

“I am, please, I am coming.” One last flick and I am done. Stars sparkle behind my closed eyelids. Far away I hear Matteo’s guttural growl which prolongs my own orgasm till I am totally spend.

“That was…” I try to find a word to describe this experience that was different than any other sexual encounter I have had.

“Yeah, I know, cara. I hope you can sleep well now. I’ll make sure to give you a call tomorrow. Till then… Think of me.” I can almost hear him winking through the phone.

“I do, Matteo. More than you probably can imagine. Sleep tight.” With that we end the call and I add quietly to my empty room. “I think I am in love with you.”

  Chapter 18

  Valerie

A few weeks after our phone sex experience I have Matteo withdrawal. It has been three days since he was able to call and even longer since we have seen each other. The weather has turned from cold and frosty to rainy. An icy rain is pouring over the town for a few days now and it doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon. The good thing is this weather makes people frequent my bakery even more often to warm themselves up with a hot drink and baked goods.

So far I had an even more hectic day today and am glad that I have a few calm minutes before the next rush comes in. I pull out my phone to send a quick message to Matteo. How is your day? Bakery got overrun today. XO Val. I don’t expect a fast answer since he is always busy. He tells me that he is almost finished with his investigation of the thief and the Mexicans, but I doubt it. He has spent so much time on the streets already and it doesn’t seem to get forward at all. He doesn’t tell me much, but I get that he gets frustrated, because he doesn’t see results.

I suppose I won’t see him for the next few days, but maybe we can slide in another round of phone sex. I grew quite fond of hearing his voice while bringing myself to an orgasm. The day after our first phone sex encounter I found a small package on the doorstep of my bakery. In the package was a small vibrator. My head must have seemed like a tomato, because even the stoic Luca couldn’t hide his grin. In the evening Jess was all over me to tell her why I would get such a sexual gift from Matteo. I told her reluctantly from our phone sex without giving her too much details and she was thrilled. Needless to say that in the evening another round of phone sex was on the agenda. This time even more satisfying.

Remembering all the sexual things I did with Matteo when he had time makes the heat rising in my head again and when the bell over the door chimes I look up hoping that the new customer doesn’t notice it.

A beautiful young woman has entered my bakery followed by… a pig? I take a second look and see that I am right. A small pig on a leash has entered the shop after the young woman who now bends down to dry it with a towel. “I hope this is okay. I promise she won’t make something dirty and the good thing is that pigs don’t even leave hair all over your stuff.”

Even her voice is beautiful. Melodic with a slight accent that reminds me of Matteo and Luca. She must be Italian as well. Shaking myself out of my stasis I smile down at the funny pair. “No, it’s okay. Do you need a blanket or something like this? Is it really tame?”

Looking up the woman pushes her wet locks behind her ears and nods. “Oh yes, she is quite tame and addicted to back rubs. Another blanket won’t be necessary as long as we can sit next to a heater.” I look in the back where Luca sits on the table closest to the heater and raise one eyebrow in question. “Well, the table next to the heater is currently occupied, but you can take the next one, if you like.”

“No, no, it’s okay. I’ll switch tables with her, that’s not a problem.” Luca is already standing and pulling out a chair for the young woman who seems rather flustered by his behavior.

“Please, I don’t want to steal your place. I can totally take the next one. That would be okay for Missy. By the way, I am Noemi. Nice to meet you.” Noemi shakes her head while Missy scurries over to Luca and grunts quietly.

“Hi, I am Valerie and this is Luca. I’m sure you can agree on how to share the table. Do you want something to eat or drink? Does Missy need something?”

Noemi and Luca look at each other and finally Noemi takes the seat Luca has pulled out for her and Luca sits down vis-à-vis of her. “I would love to get a hot chocolate and maybe one slice of panettone if you still have one left and a bowl of water for Missy, nothing fancy, please. She is really clumsy and has destroyed more than one of my mother’s bowls already.”

I almost choke on a laugh and nod. “Okay, panettone, chocolate and water. Coming right up. Luca are you okay?” Sighing I put the last slice of panettone on a p
late and sprinkle it with cocoa powder while heating milk for the chocolate.

“I’d love another espresso, Val.” Nodding I make this as well and bring everything over to their table. Missy is already snoring next to the heater while Noemi and Luca don’t seem to know if they should look at each other or in another direction. Interesting.

So far Luca has not once reacted when a woman entered my bakery. None of them has captured his attention, but this one obviously does. She seems so innocent, a complete opposite of the hard Luca. He is formed by the life in the mafia since he was a young boy, while Noemi surely has a loving family waiting for her at home. Maybe even a boyfriend.

I put a bowl of water next to Missy and turn around when the doorbell chimes again. Turning around I stop dead in my tracks. Federico is standing in all his dangerous glory in my bakery. Again. And again I don’t know what to do.

“Hello Valerie. I’m sorry to disturb you like this, but this awful weather forced me in here.” He winks and I am not sure if he is just saying this to calm me down.

“Oh… okay, do you want an espresso? I am sorry, but I just gave the last slice of panettone to Noemi and I can give you a cupcake or a piece of carrot cake if you like. Or not. I don’t know if you normally eat so sweet. Aaaaaaannnd… I am rambling, sorry.” Blushing I turn away, but he holds me back.

“Why are you so nervous, Valerie? I think we already established that there is nothing for you to worry about with me. I’d love an espresso and carrot cake sounds really good.” He winks and his relaxed demeanor makes me relax a little bit as well. While I prepare his espresso I hear a loud grunt and then small hooves scurry over the tiled floor.

“Missy, where are you… What are YOU doing here?” Noemi sounds astonished and a little panicked when she sees Federico who is now bend down to give the small pig a backrub.

Federico seems almost as stunned, even though he hides it better than the young woman. “I am here to get my caffeine and sugar fix while hiding from the bad weather and you?”

It’s obvious that these two know each other, but Luca had no clue so she is no mafia acquaintance, I think. “You two know each other?” I am curious, so sue me. I’m sure he’ll tell me to shut up if I overstepped.

“Yeah, her father helps Matteo and me with a financial problem we have and she is my cousin.” Noemi’s eyes widen while she tries to pull the small pig away from Federico. Obviously it fancies him more than her.

“Okaaay. Here Federico, your espresso and your cake. Can I bring you something else?”

He looks at me and I see questions in his eyes. Questions he probably won’t ask now with Noemi around. Instead he decides to leave. “Thank you so much, Valerie. Can you give me the cake to go? I just remembered that I have an important meeting in a few minutes.” With that he tosses the espresso down with an impressive speed considering it just came out of the coffeemaker. Nodding I wrap his cake and hand it to him.

“There you go. Have a nice day.”

“Thanks, Valerie. I’ll see you around. Make my brother bring you around some more.” With one last wink he leaves the bakery.

Carefully Noemi comes closer and lifts the small pig in her arms where it snuggles contently against her chest. “So you know Federico?”

I look at Luca for support. How much am I allowed to tell her when her father is an acquaintance of Federico and Matteo and she is their cousin. Luca shrugs and I look back at Noemi. “Ehm, I am dating his brother, Matteo. Do you know him?”

Noemi pales and looks over to Luca before coming closer and whispering. “Don’t you know that they are the mafia?”

Raising one eyebrow I decide to be honest with her. “Yeah, I know that. I figured it out real fast after Matteo helped me with some really nasty customers. He asked me out and here we are.” I try to be vague to make her shut up, since I don’t know how much I am allowed to tell her, but it seems I have no luck. Without further warning Noemi grabs my hand and pulls me behind the counter to the kitchen.

There she turns around and stares at me. “But… but… I mean, they are criminals!”

That pisses me off, obviously her father is working with or for the mafia and she dares to judge over my man? “And you? How do you know about them? And how dare you judge over these men when your father is obviously also in with them? These men have more honor in their little finger than others in their whole body!”

“My father is only helping them, because they asked him to do so! He is their uncle and they needed someone from the outside to find the person stealing their money. Daddy is NOT in the mafia! He got out when I was born.”

Wait… What? Why does she know more about what Matteo and the others do than me? “How do you know all that? I am sure they never told you that, because you know more than me and Matteo tells me everything he think is safe enough for me to know.”

Now Noemi blushes and avoids to look at me. “I listened at the door when Matteo and Federico visited my dad the first time. I wanted to know what these cousins I never got to know wanted from my dad. And then I heard things and… I don’t know… I mean they sell drugs and women and all that! How can you be with him and okay with all that?” Tears shimmer in her eyes and I understand that this is far deeper than being in the mafia or not. This is a girl not wanting to believe that her daddy is doing something illegal.

“Hey, hey… It’s okay.” Wrapping my arms around her I wait till her sobs stop. Missy is grunting quietly and trying to lick the tears from Noemi’s cheeks. Sobbing she starts laughing at the pig’s antics and I push a little back. “Listen to me, Noemi. I don’t know half of what they are doing, but I can guarantee you that no one in the Italian mob deals in women, okay? They are not in the skin trade, Matteo promised me that and I believe him, because even though their actions are not completely legal, when they say something it counts. They trust each other to have their backs and that’s not possible when one person is lying. They might not tell me everything and I don’t really want to know, but what they tell me is the truth. You father is helping them to find the person who steals from their clubs. They own several night clubs all over New York that are completely legal. I am sure they would not to anything to endanger your family, okay?”

Wiping away a rest of tears she tries a small smile. “Why are you so sure?”

Taking a deep breath I decide to lay all on the table for her. “Since knowing Matteo could make me a possible target for other gangs and a friend of mine already was attacked I have a bodyguard following me till this problem is solved. Luca keeps an eye on me. If Matteo or Federico had the slightest suspicion that you or your family would be in danger they would have given you protection as well. I am sure about it.”

Wide eyed Noemi looks in the direction where Luca probably is waiting for us to come back. “You mean he is your bodyguard? I thought he might be a regular as well, but he is in the mob, too?” Her voice is a hushed whisper and I can’t quite hide my grin.

Obviously I was right and she is interested in him. “Yeah, he’s a soldier. Well, no, that’s not right. I don’t know his actual rank, he is very close to Federico, though. That means he must be above a normal soldier.”

“That’s not for you to think about, cara”, an amused voice from the door says and we both whirl around.

Matteo is leaning against the door a wide grin on his face. Damn he is so hot. Like a Pavlovian dog my pussy gets wet the moment I see him smiling. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to pick you up, since I decided to give it a night.” He comes closer and before even greeting Noemi he wraps his arms around me and gives me a toe-curling kiss. Wrapping my arms around his neck I pull him even closer and feel his cock growing against my stomach. Smiling he pushes me back. “Don’t, cara. We are not alone here.”

He turns to Noemi who has made a few steps back. “Valerie is right, Noemi. We would never endanger your father. Our father died, because of who he was and we totally understand the need of your father to live a normal l
ife. We were very careful while coming to you and no one has followed us, but please, if you feel uncomfortable or something seems suspicious to you, give me or Federico a call. We will come immediately, okay?” He waits till she nods shyly and then pulls us both outside where Luca has already cleaned up everything. That man has helped me so often in the last few weeks he know his ways around the bakery. He pushes Noemi and the pig in his direction. “Luca will drive you home, if that’s okay with you?” I raise one eyebrow at him. Did Luca say something to him that he likes Noemi?

“I want to spend as much time with my woman as possible. If I bring Noemi home I’ll lose at least an hour with you and I am not going to do that.” He winks at me and waits till Noemi reluctantly leaves with Luca.

Wrapping my arm around his waist we leave as well. “That was nice from you.”

“I do have my nice moments, cara, but what in particular do you mean?” His eyes glint with humor while he opens the car door for me.

“Well, firstly there’s the fact that you calmed Noemi down and then you gave Luca the possibility to be alone with her and that was…” He pushes the breaks so fast I dash forward. “What the hell?”

“What do you mean, Luca and Noemi alone? What happened?” His voice is dark and angry and for the first time since we met I am scared of him.

“No… Nothing happened. I think they like each other or at least would like to get to know each other better. What’s wrong with that?”

He grits his teeth and refuses to look at me while steering the car in the direction of my home. “Nothing is wrong with that. Luca should only remember his place. Noemi deserves a life without the mob after her father has fought so hard to get them out when she was born. She deserves better.”

What? He thinks Luca is not good enough for Noemi? And what does that mean? She deserves better? “What are you saying right now, Matteo? Because it sounds awfully like Noemi is better than me, because obviously I deserve being with you, with the mob. Does that mean I am not worth enough? Because I can be a mobster’s mistress because no one else would ever care enough about me?” I have talked myself in a rage and screamed the last part in his face.
