Broken Bones

Dan sank his hands into Aiden’s hair and shoved his dick in harder, fucking Aiden’s precious mouth. “Take me. Take more. Fucking suck my dick, Aiden.”
Aiden’s hands climbed beneath Dan, gripping his cheeks. He squeezed, then pulled the globes apart. When he released Dan’s dick with a loud pop, there was a spider web of drool from his lip to the sweet dick that had been massaging his tonsils.
“So good, Daniel. You are so good. I bet all of you tastes this sweet, yeah? Let me see. Let me have you.” Aiden spread Dan’s legs wide, allowing a coolness to drift against his skin, making his pucker visible. Never. Never had anyone done this to him, made him feel this way. Certainly Keith hadn’t. No, Dan wouldn’t bring him into this. He wanted this, and he wanted it without the taint of another’s memory.
“Let him go. Take me. I would give you everything.” Aiden’s own lovely tongue struck, prehensile and searching as it sank deep into his hole, licking and exacting a passionate warfare on his body.
“Yes, that’s it. Oh, so much. Too much. More. More.” Dan’s pleas could be heard ricocheting against the walls. His breaths came in gasps as Aiden fucked his hole with his tongue, spearing farther and farther into his flesh, and then something crazy happened. Dan didn’t know how he did it, but that tongue sank even deeper, seeking his core, playing over the ridged muscles in his ass, finding his pleasure button. “Ahhh. What are you? What are you doing to me?”
“Savoring you, Daniel,” Aiden paused to answer. “A little more. Oh. So delicious.” Aiden’s words were muffled as he went back to his focus, as that tongue twisted and searched. Dan’s gratified scream when Aiden located his target was loud. Fleetingly, Dan remembered his family, the other people in the home, and then nothing, forgetting them once Aiden had taken him back down his throat again. He seemed to be doing some special trick with the muscles that enveloped him, the opening wider and pulsing, kneading Dan’s organ until Dan too pulsed. Gasping, he shot every ounce of the liquid heat inside him into Aiden’s waiting mouth. Aiden uttered a garbled sigh of relief as he consumed all Dan had to offer and suckled, seeking more evidence of his lover’s pleasure. He sniffed Dan, probing, attempting to find every drop of Dan’s cum.
Dan fell back down to the bed, his body useless now. He had nothing, his body completely wiped. Would be amazed if he could find words. His throat felt a little scratchy from the screams he made during… what? What was this between Aiden and him, anyway? He turned to look at his lover, who had just taken him to another sensual level, one he had never experienced before.
Aiden watched him, waiting. Played along the divide in his lips with that whip of a tongue like a little boy or, hell, a demon who had just enjoyed his favorite ice cream treat and didn’t want to leave any succulent crumbs behind.
“Yes. Yes, you are as sweet as I thought, Daniel. Everywhere.” His smile was almost predatory. And then, just like that it vanished in the wind. Dan noticed the ways Aiden’s hands shook as he reached over to one of the cups and brought it up for Dan to take a sip. The coffee had cooled off some but was still quite good.
“No tricks with your tongue this time. We have other things to discuss.” Leaving the brew with Dan, Aiden rose from the bed and went to take a seat near the window, distancing himself from Dan, his eyes everywhere but on his. Denim-clad legs stretched wide, boots causing divots in the plush carpet below the bay window. The light streamed in, bestowing sweet kisses along the strands of his hair, a light shimmer emerging.
Dan smiled into his cup. For the man to feel he needed to move so far away… yeah, this new feeling of power, of control, was good. He wouldn’t try to tempt Aiden any more right then. For the time being, talking was fine. And Aiden was right. They did need to talk, and not just about this fire that burned between them. They weren’t finished, though, no matter what he thought. There was so much more to know. Coimeádaí, huh? What did it mean? He couldn’t remember where he heard it or when. It was vital that he did, and whatever the connection, it had a lot to do with the other that thrived under Aiden’s surface.
“WELL, IT could work. Your father is right. Keith is becoming sloppy. Trying to lure you out of your sanctuary, such as it is, with a threat to your students. He knows where to hit, where you’re weakest,” Aiden said.
He was too far away for his peace of mind, but Dan would remedy that soon. For some reason Aiden stayed back, stayed away. The feeling Dan had right then? It was like the chase instinct a dog had. Aiden was running; Dan was eager to catch him. Dan was looking at his prey—a strong, virile man who wanted him but who wanted distance from him even more, and that would have to be rectified soon.
Aiden had been looking toward the window, taking in the light that streamed in when he glanced back to Dan with a glare.
You hear me, don’t you?
Oh, and wasn’t that pretty? Aiden did not like having the tables turned, did he? The blush of his skin was delightful as it spread across those gorgeous features. Dan wondered if he was flushed like that all over.
Are you, Kavanagh? I would love to see.
Aiden stood quickly and went to face the window. “Do not press me, Daniel. I have much more experience than you—years, even.”
Dan placed his coffee down and stood. He had been afraid enough in the time he was with Keith. He would not be afraid again. Not of Keith, not of Aiden, and not of himself. He stepped behind Aiden and placed his arms around his waist.
“Is that supposed to warn me off, Aiden? That you have more experience. It only makes me want to know more, but for now I can wait. For now we will focus on one problem at a time. Keith first.” Dan spoke into Aiden’s back while kissing and licking him gently. There was that smell again, like spiced wood. Just a little bite. A smidgen, as Mrs. Dunham liked to say. He knew if he sank his teeth into Aiden’s flesh, his warm blood would be addictive. He should have been disgusted by his own thoughts, but he wasn’t. Instead, he was thirsty, and he needed this venti-sized drink of hot chocolate down his throat to quench his need. He shook himself and turned away.
A hand stopped him.
“You feel it, Daniel? The hunger?” Aiden’s words were hesitant, almost afraid.
Dan didn’t pretend ignorance. He knew exactly what Aiden was talking about. The more time he spent with him, the more he touched him, looked into those ever-changing eyes, the hungrier he became. He remembered the dream, drinking from a nature’s bounty so sweet it was like his own bottle of iced wine, the images so vivid he awoke scared out of his wits. That earlier fear? Absent now. No, instead he felt ravenous, and only one person would satisfy the craving gnawing away at his insides.
“Yes, Aiden. I do.” He couldn’t explain it, couldn’t explain the self-possession that arose from simply being in Aiden’s presence, but Aiden was his, belonged to him. He knew Aiden was fighting it, but Dan would take him when the time was right. It just wasn’t right now, and they just didn’t have the space or even time that it warranted. Way too much happening for it to be a focus.
He turned back and drew Aiden to him. Taking his neck in his hand, Dan brought his mouth down to Aiden’s and slipped his tongue between his teeth, still able to taste himself in the kiss. He reveled in the delicious warmth, the fever of his body. Kissed him until it felt like he was drawing the breath from the taller man’s mouth, and then he went in for more. When he was finished, both he and Aiden stood panting.
“Patience, Dr. Kavanagh. It’s killing me.” Dan smiled against lips bruised from deep kisses. Goddess bless, he was looking forward to the fervent promises the future held.
As for Aiden, he was struck speechless. About damned time.
CHAPTER 13
DAN WOULD make sure when he saw Keith that he knew Dan was no longer his. He was moving on. Part of that moving on was getting out. Conner had mentioned maybe going dancing. He loved dancing, rocking his hips to a good beat. It was a part of his release, and he needed it. After several months, the time had arrived and he was ready. The bruising was gon
e, and the soreness in his limbs no longer existent.
Distance, real distance away from Keith, had greatly increased his self-esteem. It would be silly of him not to appreciate his father’s wisdom in bringing in Aiden to talk with him. An outsider really helped him to see what those who loved him could not. It was the measure of realism he needed that wasn’t clouded by the love of friends and family. When he thought back on their relationship, he realized he had been robbed—robbed of the experience of real love, true passion.
Like the passion he had experienced with Aiden, who had all but disappeared. He hadn’t visited, hadn’t called. He was running, but Dan wasn’t going to chase him for the moment. Aiden had used the excuse of going back to work, seeing his patients, but Dan knew running when he saw it. Whatever was going on with him, he obviously needed the time away to deal with it. The only thing Dan could do was grant it.
“So, we were looking at clothing, right? Just wondering, because it’s like your mind isn’t with us here in your closet treasure trove,” Shelly said as she slid hangers back and forth, searching for the perfect pair of jeans to match the plum-colored tight T-shirt she had lain aside—along with a cranberry one, a teal one, and a very thin, almost not there royal blue shirt that Dan wondered about, because he certainly didn’t remember buying it. The thing would leave him practically naked, so he was starting to have a few suspicions about Shelly’s real intent. She had jumped at the chance to help Dan choose his club attire for the night.
They would go to Play. It was new, clean. The lights weren’t overwhelming, weren’t blinding. The restrooms were actually that, restrooms, rather than meeting spots to exert some sexual energy. No one would be down on their knees deep-throating some random cock like at Connections, also known as “Infections.”
Play offered the latest songs, drinks that weren’t watered down, and a safe place to enjoy himself for an hour or six. It was fun and a chain, so they had the finances to back huge events, like their famous foam party, as well as a great show and tons of security.
For Dan, it was all about their huge dance floor. He remembered years ago being able to lose himself on the dance floor. That’s what spurred his decision tonight, to leave the compound even if his father and Conner were planning for him to have his own Secret Service team while he was there. Some decisions were just out of his hands.
Besides, he wasn’t sure Keith would wait two weeks to make his move. Neither was his family. No one was willing to risk it. It wasn’t a surprise that he would leave with protection. He had to admit to himself that he was wary about what could happen to him beyond the security of his father’s roof. This reintroduction into society with the help of his family would be a smoother one, one where he could focus on enjoying himself rather than worry about hidden threats to his safety.
When he finally tuned in to Shelly’s words, he heard her asking his opinion on yet another pair of tight jeans with holes in strategically placed areas and a very questionable pair of inky black leathers. He didn’t know which to choose and was more worried about how he would get his body into them and be able to breathe.
“Shelly, honey, what gives? I’m just going out for the night to dance, not to bring anyone home.” Dan sighed as he walked closer to the closet. And he was right, because there on the floor were empty bags, indicating his bestie had gone on a serious shopping spree at H&M before she arrived in his room to blast through his wardrobe.
“I know this, but it won’t hurt to have a few dance partners, will it?” Shelly questioned as she turned to take him in her arms. Drawing him closer, she spoke quietly. “Look, it’s been forever since you went out anywhere without that asshole Keith. Aiden’s hot, but where is he? You’re beautiful, and I have been waiting so long for this, to see you move, to see you shake that luscious ass of yours and drum up a few visitors.” Shelly’s hair was now a whitish blond with a red streak through it. With a light scent of fresh strawberries, it fell gently across his shoulders as she lay against him.
“Strawberries. You always smell so good.” He gave her a squeeze as he breathed her in. “Can’t it just be enough that I’m going out, Shelly?” Anyone would be able to hear the smile in Dan’s voice, a pleasure he couldn’t hide completely at her eagerness.
She laughed.
Why fight it? He threw up his arms. “Fine, then. Have your way with me!”
The laugh the two shared together rang through the room.
DAN FOUND himself standing before a very scandalized brother, cheeks warm.
“Well, uhm. Wow,” Conner barely made out. His arms were folded across the wide expanse of his chest, the emerald green shirt stretching nicely over his biceps. The color combined with his rich red locks did much for his tanned skin. Dan was confident he would pale in comparison to his brother’s good looks. Forcing away those thoughts, he focused on Conner, who crossed over to Dan to fully take in his appearance, which included his hair twisted in some funky braid that Shelly had managed. “Shelly?”
“Yes, of course. Well? What do you think?” Dan spun around dramatically.
“Uhm” was all Conner said.
“Oh, come on, Conner. I know you’re not gay or even the least bit in touch with your feminine side, but you could say something.”
Conner’s tongue-twister moment was starting to make Dan nervous. He trusted Shelly. She knew what looked good on him. All he needed was a confirmation from a guy’s perspective, even if it had to be his brother. Aiden wasn’t there, had gone to his home, to the hospital, or to Mars for all Dan knew.
When Aiden had left, roaring away on his motorcycle, an Icon Sheene, he didn’t say when he would be back, if he would be back. He simply took off. Dan figured it was his version of self-preservation. Aiden was leaving to repair his shields and come back stronger, all-powerful and bulletproof. Dan smiled, remembering how rattled his kiss had left him. If he could make Dr. Aiden Kavanagh tremble from just a kiss, then he had nothing to fear when he went out on the floor that night.
Dan and Conner stood in one of his favorite rooms. Dan loved it because it was where he and his mother had often sat together, sometimes with his father and his brother, sometimes alone. The room was warm, inviting. Since it was nice outside, there was no need for the fireplace to be lit, but the plush leather chairs were roomy and comfortable and drew bodies to sit near it. The burgundy draperies gave off a soft glow from the sun-kissed windows. Beside his room and maybe the gardens, Dan felt most at home there, remembering where he and his mother often shared a laugh, told a tale about their day, or read a book or two. Conner knew his affection for this room and had asked to meet there before they all left for the evening.
“Little brother,” Conner began. Well, finally. Dan waited. “It does my heart good to see you look brighter. Forget the clothes. Forgive me, Shelly.” Conner glanced over apologetically and then returned his gaze quickly to him.
Has Conner claimed her yet? Dan wondered. Hell, had Shelly claimed him? Though Conner was a very powerful man and an even more powerful wolf, Dan wasn’t certain he would be the one ruling in that pairing. Smiling gently, he waited to hear what his brother had to say.
Conner stepped toward him. Placing his hands on Dan’s shoulders, he continued. “Forget the packaging. You look awesome, Danny. The clothes? They are nothing more than confection wrapping a dessert any man or woman would be glad to have a taste of, but what makes me happiest, brother? What makes my heart dance is seeing you lighter, without the heavy burden. Yes, there are things to be done. There is still darkness out there, but you.” Conner’s laugh was heart-filled, happy. “Oh, I have waited years to see you look eager for life, ready to go on. No more pain, pain that you worked hard to hide from us. You look like you, Danny. You look like you but better, and my heart explodes with the looking.” Finishing his speech with a grunt, Conner gathered Dan tightly to him and held on.
Eyes wet and throat clogged from tears, Dan spoke against Conner’s chest. “I’m sorry, Conner. I’m sorry for avo
iding your calls, for not telling you. I’m sorry.”
Shushing Dan, Conner just continued to hold on. “No more apologies, Danny. We have a new day ahead of us. New beginnings. We have a little baggage to get rid of, but clean slates all around, yes? More Phineas and Ferb, movies, life, Danny. Life. All I ask is that you no longer shut any of us out of it.”
“I agree with your brother, son,” Jeremiah rumbled in agreement as he walked into the room. “I knew I would find you here.” Shadowed eyes looked around longingly, darkening with pain before he focused on his family. Very little had changed there since Sarai had died, which left Dan thinking about Conner’s words. He wasn’t the only one who needed a new beginning. “Word has reached me that you are ready to go out, perhaps dancing, Danny? As we spoke earlier, you are not to leave this house without escorts. They are able to remain unobtrusive, but until this issue with Keith is remedied, our guard will be at your back.” Satisfied that his word was received and would be honored, he called to Dan, “Come.”
At Jeremiah’s beckoning, Dan left Conner’s arms and walked into his father’s embrace. Warm hands sheltered him, and his head was rubbed roughly by the Alpha’s chin as he marked him, scented him. He could recall many times as a youth when the very same action was taken, the marking easily recognizable by any wolf that would encounter the Alpha’s progeny. Dan’s smile was warm. He could have said he was a man, that he didn’t need this anymore, but it felt so damn good. Why should he deny his family their need to protect him or himself the need to feel protected? He was done with that.
“I love you, child of my heart. Never have I been disappointed in you, in your choices. This thing was not your fault. There was darkness there, a misuse of power, but you are cleansed now through your return to the pack.”
His father was right. Pack members had begun welcoming him again, in small ways first, then without hesitation the longer he remained. He was called on to play a game, tutor, even help plan events. As he healed, the bonds were sealed again between him and his people.
