He smirked. “I want to make our relationship public.”

I gasped. Was I ready for that? “Why?”

“Because I want everyone to know you’re with me.” He said hoarsely and I felt a warmth pulse through my body. “What do you want?”

I wasn’t exactly ready for our relationship to be quite public knowledge yet, so I thought up the best think I could offer him, hoping he would like my offer better and just let me win. “I want to make you come.” This was something he hadn’t really allowed me to do, knowing it was the one thing I wanted that he could use as marriage leverage.

His eyes burned and he dropped his head, his lips meeting mine. “You’re a wicked tease, love.” He rubbed himself against me and even though I wasn’t wearing panties, the material of his sweats was obstructive. I wanted them gone. “But if you think I’m going to let you win this one, you’re crazy.”

I nipped his lips and he grinned down at me. “What was that for?”

“Just showing you your place.” I replied smartly.

Challenge lit his dark eyes as his hands found my wrists, pinning me to the ground. He kissed me hard, grinding his hips into my very sensitive, very aching core. I moaned and he lifted his head before pushing back onto his knees. He glanced down and I tried to close my legs, but his hands caught hold of my knees, spreading them.

“Kyle,” I pleaded. “What are you doing?”

The light overhead was bright and I felt so very vulnerable in this position for his eyes to feast upon my body.

“I’m looking at you, sweets.” He announced. “You’re beautiful,” he whispered. “And so wet.”

I blushed, warmth stinging my cheeks. “I wish you wouldn’t.”

“Why?” His eyes found mine and I noticed he was frowning. He was still sitting between my open legs, his hands balanced on my raised kneecaps. “I love looking at you.”

“Because,” I shrugged, feeling warm with humiliation. “I’m so - exposed.”

  “I know,” he nodded. “I don’t see why that’s a problem.”

“I’m, just,” I stuttered. “I’m insecure, is all.”

His brows raised, but a frown crinkled the skin between his eyes. “Why would you be insecure, Kami? You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”

Oh God, his eyes dropped back down - there - and I felt my face heat to a brilliant shade of crimson. I tried to scoot away from him, pushing my back up the carpet, but again, he was having none of it. His hands slid down from my knees, over the inside of my thighs, spreading my legs even wider. I was completely open to him - and so wet with throbbing desire, I hurt.

His eyes were filled to the brim with lust when they flickered back up to mine and I groaned, from both humiliation and wanton desire. What was this man doing to me?

“I want you.” He growled low in his throat and I could see from the bulge in his pants that he was speaking more than the truth. “I want you so fucking bad, love, it hurts.”

Grinning, I purred. “I’m yours to take.”

“Shit, you are a tease.” He growled as he lowered his head between my legs.

My heart leapt and I tried again to creep up the carpet, away from him, but his hands held tight to my hips. “Kyle,”

“Let me taste you, love.” He begged. His voice sounded so strangled, I had no choice. Hell, the desire and need sounding in the undercurrents made me even wetter and suddenly, I wasn’t embarrassed. I was turned on. I was so hot and wet for him - I wanted only one thing other than his mouth on me - and that was his cock buried to the hilt, filling me.

“Please,” I shifted my hips and the fire in his eyes blazed.

Kyle lowered his head between my legs and I closed my eyes as his mouth covered me, his tongue finding and swirling around my clit with an expertise I cherished and questioned. My mind didn’t wonder too long how he’d become so good at this as every thought blanked as he sucked the bundle of nerves into his mouth before releasing and sucking hard again. Holy crap!

I was burning up from the inside out.

I was breathing - panting hard, as he tasted me, licking and sucking as he worked my body into an orgasm. He pushed his fingers deep inside me as his tongue lavished my clit, he crooked his finger, founding my g-spot and I cried out as goosebumps littered my flesh and my orgasm tore through me. My entire body shook as I came spiraling down from my high.

Kyle lifted his head, climbing up the length of my body. He lowered his head to my lips, kissing me, and I tasted myself on his mouth. For some reason, that was hot.

I opened my mouth to speak when he lifted himself quickly from my body, dashing down the hall to the shower. Stunned, I just laid there on the floor, half of me angry that he’d taken advantage of my indisposed state and the other half so blissfully basking in the afterglow of my orgasm.

  Chapter 15

By the time I peeled myself up off the floor and made my way to the bathroom, Kyle was already in the shower. Leaning against the vanity, I watched him massage shampoo into his hair. Spotting me, he grinned his shit-grin. “I won, sweetheart.” He winked.

“You cheated!” I folded my arms over my chest. “I was entirely indisposed and you took advantage.”

“I won fair and square.” He argued and I knew there was no changing his mind. In all fairness, he would have won anyway.

I grumbled. “You would have won anyway. You have longer legs.”

“Quit your pouting and get in here, love.” He chuckled.

Pulling my shirt up over my head, I let it drop to the floor. Moving across the floor, I pulled open the glass shower door and stepped into the steamy box with him, sighing. “Oh, it’s nice and warm in here.”

“It’s cause I’m in here.” He teased.

I rolled my eyes. “Your ego is dangerously large.”

“Only with you.” He bent down to press a kiss to my forehead, guiding me into the water. “You build me up, love.”

“I like that.” I whispered. “Building you up, I mean.”

His eyes softened. “I like it too, sweets.” I smiled and his thumb moved over my cheek as his palm cupped my face. “What are you thinking about?”

My heart leapt. “How you’ve made me very happy,” my voice croaked and he frowned. “And how I don’t want to lose you.”

“Why would you be thinking that?”

“Because,” I shrugged. I’d never really thought of myself as having a terribly low self-esteem, but sometimes, when it came to Kyle, I felt guilty for his feelings toward me. It didn’t really make sense, but I felt guilty for having him when someone so much more deserving could be with him, love him, and give him everything he ever wanted. “I don’t know.”

He cocked his head to the side and his eyes on my face were gentle. “You do know.” He spoke softly, soothingly. “You just don’t want to tell me.”

Lowering my eyes, I sighed. “You’re an amazing man - a good man,”

“And you’re an amazing woman, Kami. You’re a good woman.” He bent his knees to catch my eyes rather than lifting my chin the way he sometimes did. “I’m so lucky to have you - or almost have you.” He joked and I couldn’t help but smile.

“I don’t deserve you, Kyle. But if you want me, then you’ve got me.”

“Almost,” he whispered, pressing his lips against mine. He kissed me slow and sweet, loving me with his mouth. His hands wound around my back, pulling me into his warm body and I sighed.

There was no place on earth like his arms. There was no place safer, warmer, better, or more beautiful. I know, if given the chance, I would live right here in his embrace and never wander.

Kyle pulled back, his gaze gentle on my face. “We’ve gotta finish up in here, sweets. We have to get to work so I can start telling everyone you’ve agreed to date me.”

  “Date, huh?”

“Well, for now.” He grinned his shit-grin and I felt my heart swell. Sometimes, this man made me feel so impossibly full, I wondered if I ever actually loved
Rhett.

...Rhett folded his arms around my stomach, dragging me against his chest. He dipped his head low, speaking into my ear. “I have a surprise for you.”

“Really?” I twisted around, trying to face him. “What?”

“I’m pretty sure I’ve found us a place.”

My entire body tensed with excitement. “Oh my,” I covered my mouth with my hands and he chuckled. “You’re kidding?”

“No.” He shook his head. “Are you excited?”

“Can’t you tell?” I jumped in his lap, oblivious to the rest of the people crowding Rhett’s cousins house. “I’m so freaking excited!”

He tugged me closer. “Shh, I haven’t told my cousin, yet.”

“Oh,” I lowered my voice. “Where is it?”

“Not far from here.” He shrugged. “I’ve got to find a way to come up with the damage deposit before the first of next month and it’s ours.” He spread his hands wide over my stomach. “Say you’ll move in with me.”

  “You know I will.”

He pressed his lips to my throat, sucking gently on my flesh. Rhett tended to mark me and he had a thing for hickies. I, however, hated them. They looked dirty and he always managed to make one in a place I couldn’t hide.

I shrugged him away, gritting my teeth. “Why do you do that?”

He tightened his hands around me. “You’re mine. I want others to know it.”

“Others do know.” I sighed. “You don’t need to do that.”

“Others question. If I mark you, there’s no question.” He said simply and I wondered how this made sense in his mind. I’d told Jana about his odd ways and she completely swooned over it, announcing that I was so lucky to have a man who wanted the world to know I was his. So, after so long, I’d tried to romanticize the action, but I still hadn’t fully accepted it.

“Well, you know I’m yours and that I would never betray you. That should be enough.”

“Sure, babe.” Rhett nodded. “So we gonna go look at the place soon?”

  I smiled. “I’d love to.”

“Good.” He kissed my shoulder. “I want you out of that foster house so I can take care of you.”

I blushed, my heart racing. “How much is the damage deposit?”

  “I’ve got it.”

“I’m just curious.” I shrugged, but I knew how Rhett was with his money and I really did want to move out of the foster house. I was ready to move on from that stage of my life. “I want to help, if I can.”

  He nodded. “Fifteen-hundred.”

“What?” I gasped. “Is it a mansion?”

He sat back into the couch cushion. “It’s decent. But we’re young.”

I nodded. “Okay, I’ll start working some extra shifts.”

“I said I’ve got it, Kamilla.”

I flinched. Rhett only ever used my full name when he was angry. “I’m sorry.” I said quickly. “I just really want this - with you.”

“Yeah,” He nodded, but the damage was done.

“Yo, Rhett,” his cousin called from the pool table. “You ready to get your ass kicked at a game?”

Rhett gave his cousin a chin nod. “Be right there.”

His cousin yelled. “Awe, Kam will still be there when you’re done, eh, won’t you, Kam?”

I nodded. “I’ll be here.” I turned to Rhett. “Go have fun.”

He lifted me from his lap before moving to join his cousin around the pool table. I sat on the couch for a few minutes before deciding to wander around - mingle a bit. There were so many people at his house, all the time, that I’d grown pretty familiar with the crowd.

A deep voice sounded beside me and I glanced up. “Hey, Kamilla, what’s up?”

I racked my brain for his name, but came up blank. “I’m sorry, have we met?”

“A few times, actually. The name’s Mark.” He shrugged. “It’s all good. There’s always a lot of people here.”

“Yeah,” I nodded, smiling softly. “There is.”

  “You live here?” He asked.

I laughed. “No, but I spend a lot of time with Rhett and he lives,”

“Who the fuck is this guy, Kami?” Rhett was suddenly beside me, his eyes raging, his voice shaking. What in the world was wrong with him?

“Oh,” I stuttered, “This is Mark.” I gestured to Mark. “Mark this is Rh,”

“You hitting on my girl?” Rhett growled. Stepping menacingly toward Mark.

“What?” Mark raised his hands, clearly stunned. “No, man, I was just talking to her.”

“Rhett!” I hissed, grabbing his arm. “What are you doing?”

“Shut up, Kami.” He shrugged my hand off his arm before landing his fist in Marks face. Blood splattered and Mark groaned, doubling over to catch his face in his hands. A scream split from my lips as I lunged myself at Rhett.

“Get away from him!” I yelled, already feeling tears swell in my eyes. “Are you crazy?”

Everything inside of me was shaking. I was afraid, angry, and shocked. I’d heard rumors that Rhett had a violent streak, but I’d been with him for a year and a half and I had never witnessed this side of him. What in the world was going on?

Rhett took another step toward Mark, and thankfully, a few others interrupted. Through the humming in my ears, I heard others talk Rhett out of his crazed stupor.

Blinking at Mark, I shook my head. “I’m so sorry,” I croaked, and then I ran to the back of the house where Rhett’s room was located. I didn’t want to be here, but all my stuff was stored in his room. I needed my purse and jacket before I left.

Not a minute had passed before Rhett came crashing into his room. His eyes zeroed in on my jacket and I tensed. What was he going to do?

“You’re leaving me?” He asked gruffly, his voice strangled. “I’m sorry, babe.” He covered the space between us after throwing his door closed. I couldn’t move. I was scared. “I’m so sorry, Kami. I don’t know what happened - I don’t know what came over me.”

Shaking my head, I whispered. “I should go home.”

His eyes snapped to mine and his body tensed. “Please, babe, don’t leave me.” He shook his head. “You can’t leave me. I won’t let you. I love you.” His hands clasped over either side of my face before he covered my mouth with his, kissing me with possession. I was so torn inside. Rhett was the man who saved me from spending all my nights in the foster house. He made me laugh, he made me feel loved, adored - how was I supposed to leave someone I loved?

I kissed him back and he moaned into my mouth, knowing he was forgiven. His hands tugged at my jacket, dropping it to the floor before he grabbed my thighs, lifting me against him. “You’ll never leave me, Kami. The way I feel for you, it’s too strong.”

“I love you.” I whispered. “But I never want to see you do something like that again.”

He dropped me down on the bed, catching my chin in his hand. “Do you see now why I like to mark you?” He asked sternly. “If I mark you, everyone knows you’re taken. Everyone knows you’re mine.” He released my chin to push my shirt up over my head. “I won’t let anyone take you from me, Kamilla. Never.”

Looking up at him, I nodded, shivering as he touched my body with the same hands he’d beaten a man with only minutes prior...

  Chapter 16

For some reason, I couldn’t get Rhett out of my head. I didn’t know if it was because I’d admitted to wanting to be with Kyle, the way he so vocally claimed to want me, or if I was worried about my relationship with him becoming public knowledge. But either way, I had been a distracted wreck.

I couldn’t stop comparing Kyle to Rhett. Was his wanting to make our relationship public knowledge the same thing as Rhett wanting to mark my skin with his hickies? I know he’d said he wanted to make me his, but I didn’t feel the same kind of possession radiating from Kyle as I did when Rhett had spoken the words. Was I just blind? Did I attract men who wanted to hurt others - hurt me?

I shook my head, frustrated with mys
elf for my fears. Kyle wasn’t that man - he wasn’t Rhett. Lumping him in the same toxic bucket would do no good for anyone. If I wanted this to work with Kyle, I had to stop comparing him to Rhett.

“Looking good today, Kami.” My eyes flickered up to catch sight of a man leaning over the counter, grinning at me. “Whatcha thinking about?”

  “Pardon?” I blinked.

“You had that lost in space look.” He cocked his head. “I tried to get your attention a few times.”

“Oh,” I flushed. “I’m sorry, what can I do for you?”

“The usual.” He straightened, laughing loudly and catching Kyle’s attention.

The customer continued talking as my heart raced and panic soared through my chest, burning in my throat as Kyle glanced between me and the man leaning against the counter. Would he be mad? Would he come over here in a rage and accuse him of flirting with me - or me with him?

By the time Kyle winked at me and turned around to continue his instruction, I’d worked myself into such a panic, I would have bet money I was pale.

“Hey, Kami?” The man’s voice brought me back to the present and I sucked in a deep breath. “Are you alright? You’re pale - and you’re shaking.” He leaned in closer and I stepped back, covering my rolling stomach with my hand.

“I’m sorry,” Tears blurred my vision and my throat felt tight - almost closed.

“Hey,” the man called out. “Can I get some help here?”

Through the haze of my vision, I saw Kyle’s eyes dart to me before he yelled for Collin to take his place. Then he was jogging toward me. His eyes were filled with worry.

Large strong hands settled on the side of my face and through the rapid beating of my heart, I felt calm settle through me. “Kami, talk to me, sweetheart.”

I shook my head. “I’m sorry,” My hands trembled as they lifted to cover his hands on my face. “I need - to,” I stuttered. “I need to go.”

He nodded, glancing over his shoulder at Collin. I watched as Collin gave a sharp chin nod - communicating with Kyle silently - before Kyle dropped his hands from the side of my face, steering me to the door. “We’re going home, love.” He cooed. “I’m taking you home.”
