My lips connect with hers in a searing kiss before I hold her gaze in the moonlight one last time. “Anytime. Thank you for catching me, and I will never let you fall.”
I hold Trixie like that for the next solid hour as we leash our mouths, our bodies together. Trixie Toberman walked into my life right on time all those months ago. Whisking me away to this very place, claiming me in ways that no one before her had been able to do.
Trixie tamed me, she trained me, she downright rearranged my heart. What Trixie doesn’t know is that I almost didn’t make it to Beta house that first night. Miranda Smirnoff stopped me at the door and made a proposition she didn’t think I could refuse. At the time, I didn’t think I could either, but something deep inside of me said run. So, I did. Right past her into these hallowed halls and into the arms of the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.
I’d like to think that Trixie and I still would have happened if I screwed up that night, but I’m glad I didn’t have to find out the hard way. I didn’t want Miranda. After Knox introduced me to his sister last summer, long before she ever moved onto campus, Beatrix Toberman was the only girl I could see. I’ll tell her that on the flight to Memphis when I surprise her with her favorite coffee, with Clyde seated firmly between us—hell, beside us. I’m not letting anyone real or imagined get between Trixie and me ever again.
To all the naysayers, I say don’t be cruel.
I plan on loving Trixie tender, long into the future.
