“I love you, you dirty bitch,” he said, wiping her face with a tissue.

“Love you too, Tommy,” she said, going to sit up.

“Oh no,” he said, “now it’s your turn.” He lifted her skirt, spread her legs and pushed her knickers to one side. “Now I get to work the White magic on you.”

  Chapter Eighteen

Tommy and his boys burst into Archie’s office without warning, shoving Tanya out of the way as she ran in front of Tommy trying to stop them.

“What the…?” Archie started but Tommy interrupted him.

“Archie Madden. As I live and breathe, how are you, son? Long-time no see, ‘eh? Can you believe we’re meeting like this again? I thought I’d made my point the last time we met in person. Just before Big Frankie died wasn’t it? You know, it is so disappointing to have to speak to you again, Archie, your dad would have been terribly upset.”

Archie raised his hand to Harry the Hatchet as the man went to pull his gun on Tommy.

“A wise decision, son. My boys are already all over you and you’re outnumbered.” Tommy gestured to the three burly men behind him, guns trained on both Archie and Harry.

“Don’t call me son. You’re not my dad, mate.”

“Fair enough, son,” Tommy said, watching as Archie tried to control his fury.

“Did you know me and your dad were well acquainted? Funny really. In fact we were very close at the end, if you know what I mean. Such a sad day when he died.”

Tommy smiled, like a cat teasing its prey, getting ready to pounce. He watched Archie closely, the tic in his cheek giving away the rage bubbling under the surface. Tommy wondered how far he had to push him before that rage showed its ugly face just as it had with Raine yesterday.

“Big funeral was it? I’m so sorry I missed it. I was in the South of France. It’s nice there this time of year, you should try it. Take a little break and de-stress maybe. You’re looking a little uptight I must say.”

“Was there something you wanted, Mr White?” Archie asked, deliberately using the formal greeting, trying to gain control of the situation.

“Oh, Archie, I think we can drop the formality don’t you. You can call me Tommy. I think that’s only fair as we’re practically family…” Tommy trailed off as he picked up a framed photo of Frankie with an assortment of gangsters.

“He was well known in the underworld wasn’t he Archie…if not particularly respected. I wonder how many will turn out for your send off when it comes?”

Tommy dropped the photo, the glass and the frame smashing on the floor.

“What the fuck…?” Archie said moving towards him.

Two of Tommy’s men stepped between them, holding him back as Tommy stared at him.

“That’s just what I was thinking, Archie. What the fuck were you doing yesterday, eh? Slapping a beautiful young lady? Your sister no less… and unfortunately for you mate, my girl. No one lays a fucking finger on my girl without fucking consequences do you hear me?”

“What do you mean, your girl?” Archie snapped, the realisation of what Tommy was saying hitting him like a truck. “She’s my sister, you killed her dad. She wouldn’t go with you. She hates you as much as I do.”

“Well that’s not the impression I got when she was at my apartment last night. Now a gentleman doesn’t kiss and tell, Archie, but I can promise you I make your sister a very happy girl.”

Archie lunged at him, struggling to get past the two men, expletives and threats spilling out of his mouth as Tommy grinned at him.

“Seems like you’re losing your grip, Archie, and your family. First your mum, God rest ‘er soul, then your dad and now your baby sister has left you. What are you going to do?” Tommy taunted him.

“I’m going to fucking kill you, that’s what I’m going to do, and then I’m gonna kill ‘er.”

Tommy pulled a knuckle duster out of his pocket and slipped it over his fist.

“That’s not very nice is it now, Archie,” he sighed.

“I think I’m going to have to teach you a lesson. One your daddy clearly never did. Let’s hope I don’t lose control, eh? I’m not sure Raine wants to lose her brother so swiftly after her dad, as lovely as she looks in black, but Archie you make it hard for me to worry about that, you really do.”

Harry tried to step in but Tommy’s boys had a gun at his head and he stood back helpless as Tommy took his rage out on Archie, until one of his men put a stop to it.

“Tommy, I think that’s enough. I think he gets your point.”

Tommy stepped back and took a deep breath.

“I don’t ever want to hear from you again, Madden, or it will be the last thing you ever do. Come near Raine again and I will destroy you.”

Archie muttered something and tried to flick Tommy the bird but he was too battered for him to hear him. The gang retreated, their guns trained on them both until Tommy was safely out of range then they got in the cars and drove off, leaving Archie laying in a pool of his own blood.

“She lied to me,” he choked out, as Harry the Hatchet helped him to his feet, shoving him away as he staggered up himself, leaning on his desk.

“’Ow could she do that to me? ‘Ow could she betray the family?”

His voice broke as he realised the enormity of what had happened. He was alone and his sister was to blame.

“That’s it, no more Mr Nice Guy.” He turned to Harry. “We’re going to take them both down, and I won’t rest until it’s done.”

  Chapter Nineteen

Tommy rang the doorbell and waited.

Raine opened the door still wrapped in a towel, her hair piled up on her head.

She giggled as he handed her a huge bunch of flowers.

“You’re early, Tommy, and how did you get in through the main door?”

“I have my ways, and yes I am early, but lucky me because I get to see your delectable curves still wet from the shower, before you get ready.”

He stepped inside, pulling her towel off as he shut the door.

“I wanted to talk to you, before we go to the club. Business stuff, you know, and I wanted to get it out of the way before I take you out and show you off as my girlfriend.”

Raine’s heart skipped a beat. “Did you just say, ‘girlfriend’?”

“You’ve proved to me that I can trust you, Raine, and that’s not something I come across very often. I told you I love you, girl. You turn me on and you distract me. I want to look after you and I want to hurt anyone who hurts you. You’re under my skin in a way I never thought possible so yes, I did say girlfriend. If that’s okay with you?”

“I like how that sounds, baby, I really do. I also like that I distract you… and with that in mind, before we talk business, isn’t there anything else you’d like to do?”

As she spoke she ran her fingers over her nipples, waiting for him to respond.

Tommy closed the distance between them, picking her up and striding into the kitchen. He sat her on the work surface and spread her legs, standing between them to kiss her.

“There are a lot of things I would like to do,” he whispered against her lips as he slid two fingers inside her. Raine moaned as he spoke to her newly discovered kinky side, the thrill of sitting naked in front of the kitchen window with her boyfriend’s fingers inside her turning her on even more than the stroke of his thumb over her clit.

“But right now we need to talk, so I will have to make do with making you come, and then you can hear what I have to say and hopefully you’ll still want to be my girl.”

“There’s nothing that could make me change my mind about you Tommy. Nothing.”

Tommy bent his head and flicked his tongue over the hard bud of her clit, swollen from the ministrations of his thumb. He curled his fingers inside her and she moaned spreading her legs wider.

“That’s it, my dirty girl. You want it don’t you.”

Raine nodded, pinching her nipples as he finger fucked her in full view of the flat oppos
ite.

He put his hand behind her arse and pulled her pussy closer to his face as he fingered her hard and fast, his tongue lapping at her, until she was a squirming, sticky mess, her pussy pulsing around his thick digits. He slid out of her and licked all three fingers that had made her come so hard. Raine slumped back against the tiles, her legs still spread and, with a grin, he spread her lips apart to watch her pussy twitch and dribble, lapping the last of her juices as she ran her fingers through his hair.

He handed her the towel and she wrapped it back around her, getting down from the work top with unsteady legs. She squealed as he picked her up and carried her into the living room.

“I told your brother you were my girl,” he said, taking her face in his hands.

“No,” she breathed, her eyes wide. “Why did you do that? He’ll kill me, Tommy, he said he would.”

“He won’t because I’ve warned him off and besides he’d have to get past me and the boys first.”

Raine was shaking as a million different scenarios ran through her mind.

“He’s got keys for this place, Tommy, he could just walk on in. He could be on his way round now!”

“He wouldn’t dare, baby. I told you, I took care of it.”

“You don’t know him. He’s unbalanced, normal rules don’t apply to Archie.”

Tommy took her face in his hands. “Do you trust me?”

Raine looked at him, her Tommy, his solid frame, his handsome face, the way he looked at her with that soppy smile. Did she trust him?

She nodded. “I trust you, Tommy.”

I’ll put a guy on you, have you followed, just to make sure, but I promise you Raine, now you’re with me, you’re safe from that psycho. Besides, I came to tell you, I have everything in place for tomorrow’s shipment. I got my contacts sorted and your brother will be picked up by the police as he tries to bring that lorry in. Then our little problem will go away for a very, very long time.”

Raine hugged him, too scared to say anything else. She hoped beyond hope that he was right because she knew that if Archie came after her, Tommy would kill him. Or Archie would kill Tommy, something she couldn’t bring herself to think about.

  Chapter Twenty

  Beaten to It

Raine was exhausted. The club had stayed open late, and she’d done a second set which had taken them into the early hours. It was gone three am but Tommy had promised her a night off and a date tomorrow night. He had had something to sort out when they’d left so as much as she had wanted to go home with him tonight she was going to take the opportunity to relax and catch her breath. She was looking forward to her own bed and a lie in in the morning, then a hot bath, and some time to herself. She hadn’t been back to her flat in days, and she was desperate to take off the glamour and sort some things out or maybe just curl up with her book tomorrow morning.

She unlocked her flat and pushed open the door. She chucked her keys onto the table in the hall and closed the door with her bum as she went to put down her bag. Something made her pause before she did and before she turned on the light. Her flat smelt different. She’d been away for a few days but she could smell aftershave. Familiar but not Tommy’s. Fuck, was Archie here? Her heart was beating so fast in her chest she thought she might throw up, her legs like jelly as she walked through the hall.

She switched on the living room light and dropped her bag onto the sofa. The sight that she was greeted with made her heart sink and her hands shake but she tried not to show it.

"Archie. How nice of you to drop by. Although it is a little late don’t you think? But then you never did quite grasp the etiquette and manners that mother tried to instil in both of us did you?”

  She looked at him again.

“Did you get into a fight?” she asked.

  Archie laughed.

“Tommy White did this to me. Thought I needed a lesson after I had a word with you. Now why would that be ‘eh?”

She knew that this was going to end badly. She just hoped that it was quick and slightly less painful than other occasions when Archie had needed to make a point to someone who had crossed him. She deeply regretted her decision not to stay with Tommy tonight and hoped he somehow managed to carry on without her when she didn’t turn up for work tomorrow.

“I can’t imagine why he would get involved, Archie.”

“Shut yer mouth Raine. You’re a disgrace to this family. A little bird tells me that you’re sleeping with Tommy White. Is that true?”

“Tommy’s been good to me Archie.”

  “Is it true?!”

Raine flinched at the bitter rage in his voice, wiping spittle from her cheek, his face so close to hers she could smell the whiskey on his breath.

“Is … it ….true?” he hissed, shoving her down onto a chair that one of his men had fetched from the dining table.

She stared at him defiantly and nodded.

Her face exploded in a white hot pain as his fist connected with her cheek, throwing her backwards against the chair, only saved from hitting the deck by the solid body of Archie’s right hand man, Harry the Hatchet. Raine tried not to think about how he had got the nickname.

“How could you? After everything we’ve been through together? You’ve betrayed me, you’ve betrayed dad.”

"Yeah well you betrayed mum when you failed to look after me, and you betrayed me when you left me to deal with Dad’s mates. You turned a blind eye and you sorted yourself out. So fuck you!”

“I know about you and your boyfriend’s little plan to get me arrested too. Did you think I couldn’t tell you’d been through my things when I left you in my office? I checked the CCTV.”

Raine hung her head. If he knew about that then he was cleverer than she’d given him credit for. They’d underestimated him and now he had the upper hand.

“I got contacts too and I changed the route. So in a little while my drugs will be safely delivered, and me and my boys will be very rich and even more powerful, and you and Tommy White will be sorry you ever crossed me. Get ‘er out of here!” he shouted.

“And leave a trail so that prick know where she is. He’ll come for her and we’ll be waiting.”

The men picked her up and manhandled her out of her flat, chucking her into the back of a white van, Harry getting in with her, securing her wrists behind her back with rope.

  “Leave me alone,” she hissed.

“What’s up Raine? The word on the street is that Tommy likes his women bound. You’d think you’d be used to this.”

“Fuck you,” she said trying to be brave. Harry backhanded her and she fell against the side of the van, sliding as it drove off.

“Wave to your boyfriend,” he laughed, taking a video with his phone. He tapped out a message and hit send.

“That should bring him running to save his little lady, and we’ll be waiting for him with a nasty surprise when he does.”

Raine spat at him and he punched her again, knocking her out and leaving her sprawled on the floor of the van as it sped through the streets of London, at the mercy of her brother’s most evil thug.

  ***

She regained consciousness, hanging from a rope in the middle of an abandoned warehouse. She almost laughed, it was so clichéd. Archie must’ve been watching ‘Legend’ again.

She was surrounded by five or six of Archie’s closest associates. People she’d known most of her life. She looked from one to another to see if any of them were feeling bad but their faces were sneering and angry, only holding back because they were waiting for Archie’s word.

“We thought we’d make you comfortable,” Archie sneered. “I’ve heard you like to play with ropes? I’ve also heard you like to take a beating, am I right?”

Raine kept her eyes straight ahead, determined to ignore him. She was not going to give him the satisfaction of seeing her break.

He picked up a wooden club and swung it at her, connecting with the top of her thighs. She cried out, flinching with the pain. />
“Oh, I’m sorry,” he sneered, “did I miss? Or do you only like it when Tommy does it?”

He stalked round her and a couple of the boys picked up similar weapons coming towards her.

“You disgust me,” he said, “I don’t have a sister any more. You chose that bastard over your own family and now you’re going to pay for it. By the time he gets here, he won’t recognise you.”

Raine was shaking with fear but she refused to give him the satisfaction of speaking.

Archie passed his club to another of his men.

“Fuck ‘er up boys,” he said and walked away.

“You can’t watch, because you know this is wrong, Archie,” she shouted at him but he didn’t turn and Raine gave up, bracing herself for the pain as they swung their weapons.

  Chapter Twenty One

Raine came to, tied to a chair, freezing cold and in agony. She flinched as she tried to move, her body bruised and bloody but to her relief nothing felt broken. She struggled with the ropes around her wrists, which were looser than they should be. Archie must’ve thought she’d be out cold for longer. She was tired and terrified that Archie’s thugs would come back before she could get free. Her face was sore, her eye swollen, and her lips was bleeding but she continued to worry at the knot.

With a burst of triumph it loosened enough for her to move her hands a little more. It could have been hours since they had left her here in the dark and she had no idea when they would be back. Her stomach rumbled and she figured that it must be morning by now. Tommy must be out of his mind. She had no idea what they had sent him but she knew he would be looking for her, that he’d come for her. He had promised her he would keep her safe, but she was scared that he would be so angry he’d let himself fall into their trap. The gang had left a trail that would be easy to follow and she knew that Archie would kill him when he got there. She just hoped that Tommy wouldn’t come storming in, because Archie’s thugs would ambush him and kill him and then her life would be over too, without him. She needed to escape before that could happen.
