DEATH OF THE UNIVERSE: BOOK TWO OF THE REALM OF ZERROS SAGA

She then put her hand in the middle of the group, and everyone put their hands together knowing that their lives depended on each other and then in unison, they all shouted, “To Lake Baikal.”
They all then headed off to their assigned duties to begin their trek to infiltrate and destroy the base of the silver knights of Russia, and hopefully, along with it the betasapien empire itself.
CHAPTER TWENTY–THREE
“Gannon, the enemy is now less than thirty minutes away from us,” said one of the humans who was in charge of the radar station.
Then suddenly a voice came over the airwaves, “People of Freedom City, we call you to surrender at once. We are inching ever so close to your precious stronghold. Upon your surrender you will ask your god – and leader of the betasapiens – Frank Brady to forgive you for your arrogance and our great leader will spare your lives. Those who do not ask for forgiveness will be destroyed. If you wish to surrender, please enter the empty airmobile that will be heading towards Freedom City shortly.”
As the message ended, everyone looked around at each other wondering if any of them would leave Freedom City and surrender to the leader of the betasapiens. No one spoke a word, and there was clear and utter silence amongst everyone.
As the leader of the people of Freedom City, Gannon took it upon himself to break the silence and uttered the words across the airwaves so that everyone could hear him, “To everyone, if you wish to surrender to the betasapiens you will not be judged by anyone, make your choice as you see fit, and no one will stop you if you choose to leave Freedom City. May God help us all.”
As Gannon’s words echoed throughout Freedom City, in the distance a large dark cloud of enemy forces could be seen heading towards their destination. As the cloud grew larger and larger, the people of Freedom City saw first–hand the sheer size of the enemy they would be fighting. Everyone then stood in awe of the largest army any of them had ever seen.
“This is sure death,” said one of the humans.
“We cannot overcome this,” said another human.
Then slowly, out from the cloud of the enemy came a single large airmobile that was sent to gather those who were ready to surrender. And as it approached, the army of Freedom City was ready to shoot it down, but Gannon ordered that it be let through for those who wished to leave Freedom City.
As the airmobile strategically landed in areas where people could easily board it, only twenty–nine people in all of Freedom City chose to leave and surrender to the betasapiens rather than staying back to fight.
“Stay back and fight with us, fight until the end,” one of the knights shouted, but it was of no use, and the twenty humans and nine superhumans boarded the airmobile, and after they had boarded it, it rose to the sky and flew back to the enemy.
As the airmobile flew back to the army of knights the twenty–nine people on board looked at each other in sadness and sorrow, and they all knew without a doubt that they would never see their family and friends of Freedom City ever again.
Suddenly the screen in the airmobile came to life and on it was one of the commanders of the knights who uttered the words, “Welcome, you have been spared from the suffering and torture that await your friends in Freedom City. You must pray to your god – the leader of the betasapiens – Frank Brady and your life will be spared.”
“Please spare our lives, I beg you Mr. Brady, please save us from the suffering,” said one of the humans.
“Help us O betasapien leader, help us please,” said a superhuman.
“I will not pray to a man, I only pray to God,” shouted another human on board the vessel.
“You fool, accept Frank Brady as your god and the supreme ruler of the earth,” said the commander of the knights.
“I will never betray my God for a mere mortal you idiot,” said the human in response to the comments of the knight.
“Then you have sentenced your friends to death,” said the knight.
The signal was then cut off, and the commander of the knights contacted Frank who had witnessed the entire episode and said, “My lord, shall we destroy the vessel?”
“Yes, destroy it and then proceed with the attack, leave no one alive,” Frank said.
Upon hearing those words, the commander of the knights gave the go ahead, and two dozen knights quickly flew towards the airmobile and decimated it into pieces killing everyone on board as the humans, superhumans and rogue knights watched in horror from Freedom City.
In the heat and emotion of the moment, Gannon ordered that the army of knights be fired upon and the army of Freedom City unleashed a volley of lasers and missiles towards them killing dozens of them in the process.
Upon seeing the offensive nature of the army of Freedom City, the commander of the knights ordered the knights to proceed with the attack, and within seconds, thousands of knights began flying at full speed towards Freedom City.
With the army of knights coming in fast Gannon went on the radio and shouted, “Start shooting them, shoot them now,” and they began firing upon the knights. But there were too many of them, and even though many of them died from being shot, it barely made a difference, and they still kept pushing forward and coming ever closer towards Freedom City.
As Gannon looked up to the sky he was horrified to see the amount of knights barreling down towards Freedom City but he knew that he couldn’t unleash his surprise until the very last second and as he looked at his people firing upon their robotic enemies he knew there was no way that the people of Freedom City would survive this war.
Then, at the very last second, as the knights furiously approached with the sole intent of killing every last one of their foes, Gannon gave the word and out of nowhere a force field covered Freedom City and as the knights crashed into it, it rendered their built–in power supply useless and one by one they began falling from the sky onto the ground of Freedom City.
As the first wave of knights fell to the floor, the army of Freedom City stopped shooting upon the knights and then the superhumans took the fight to the knights. It was all superhumans on board, and every one of them including Gannon and Jenna began using their supernatural powers to fight the knights from within the force field.
As the second wave of knights stood away from the force field, the superhumans hit them with everything in their arsenal. They controlled the knights and crashed them into each other, and they used their almost magic–like powers to create forces of energy and shoot them towards the knights, and as the knights fell one by one, they were unable to fight back against their adversaries who were protected by the force field.
But as the superhumans continued to outduel the knights their energy began to run low, and their heads writhed in pain from using their superhuman abilities. As some of the first batch of superhumans fell to the floor in pain and agony, a fresh second batch took their places, and they continued their fight against the knights.
The humans, who were seen as the weak link among the army of Freedom City did what they could to keep the force field in place, and they also helped the cause by assisting and looking after the ravaged superhumans and helping them get their strength back to continue their fight against the knights.
Meanwhile, the rogue knights patiently waited for their chance to fight against their own kind, and they knew at any moment their names would be called and they would have to be ready to fly into the belly of the beast for the fight of their lives against their brothers, sisters, and creators.
As the battle for Freedom City raged on, the betasapiens seemed as though they were caught off guard and were on the losing side of this supposedly one–sided battle. It seemed that their arrogance, conceit, and feeling of superiority over the people of Freedom City had led them to underestimate their opponent, and as the news of the battle was reported to Frank Brady and he viewed the battle through his live camera feeds he was agitated and angry that those who he so despised were winning the battle so far.
But as with everything that they
did, the betasapiens had a second plan, a backup plan. And although the people of Freedom City knew the power that the betasapiens had, they never in their wildest dreams thought that the betasapiens would use the one weapon powerful enough to destroy not only the people of Freedom City, but also destroy Freedom City itself and everything else as far as the eye can see.
CHAPTER TWENTY–FOUR
As the thirteen kamikazes flew at blazing speeds, they were now almost two–thirds of the way to Lake Baikal. Pops, Tony, and Bismarck still led the way and approximately two miles behind them were Stryker, Amare, and Max in their airmobiles and the rest of the kamikazes followed them closely in their large airmobile.
Amanda, Zeus, and Elizabeth kept a close eye on the radar for any incoming enemies, and so far the coast was clear, but they knew that at some point they would encounter some silver knights as they came closer to the base of the knights. In the large airmobile Ava and John sat together in a corner and looked through the back window when John suddenly blurted out, “When this battle is over I hope that we can get to know each other better Ava.”
Surprised at John’s comment, Ava looked at him in absolute shock as she never saw John as more than a friend.
“John, I really don’t think that this is the time for this,” Ava said to him.
“I know Ava, and I know that I shouldn’t say this now but I feel some sort of connection with you, and I need you to know how I feel,” John said to her.
Then just as Ava was about to say her next sentence, Dean interrupted them, and they both stood in silence and felt awkward about the situation.
“Nice view huh,” Dean said as he looked out of the window at the desolate and sparse land around them.
Then suddenly a voice came over the radio, and it was Pops, “It’s Pops, we have enemies dead ahead, stay back while we engage them,” and with that, everyone stayed put as Pops, Tony and Bismarck kept heading towards a band of five silver knights who were patrolling an area not too far away from their base.
“Okay Pops we hear you, if you need anything just say the code word and we’ll be on our way,” Zeus said to him.
“You got it,” Pops replied as they were now approximately three hundred meters away from the band of silver knights.
“Do you think everything will be okay?” Sarah asked Zeus.
“It should be, I doubt they are expecting us to attack their base so they won’t be on high alert, if they were, there would be hundreds of them looking for us right now,” Zeus replied.
As Pops, Tony, and Bismarck met the knights Pops said, “We were patrolling the region around Tomsk and found this human, our superiors have asked us to bring him here, to our base, and he will then be shipped off to the Invisible Dome to our betasapien leaders.”
“Very well, proceed as you were told,” said the leader of the band of knights.
“We were also told to tell the next set of knights that we see to head to the Tomsk region, as there is a possibility that there are more humans in the area and they need a search party,” Pops said to the band of silver knights.
“Very well, we’ll head to Tomsk, once you have taken your package to the base, return back to this area and continue patrolling it,” the leader of the band of knights said.
“Yes, understood,” Pops replied and then began heading towards the base.
As the band of knights changed direction and began heading to Tomsk one of the knights commented, “Sir, you did not ask the knight his name, perhaps he could be a rogue knight.”
Upon hearing that comment the leader of the band of five knights laughed hysterically and said, “A rogue knight would never return to its home base, and unless those knights have a death wish we have nothing to worry about,” and with that they continued their trek to Tomsk which was located in the opposite direction from where the rest of the thirteen kamikazes lay in wait for further instructions from Pops.
“That was very impressive Pops, I was ready for a fight,” Bismarck said.
As soon as the band of knights were out of sight, Pops radioed to Zeus and the rest of the kamikazes and said, “All clear, you’re good to proceed,” and with that, the rest of the thirteen kamikazes started their airmobiles and continued their trek to the base of the silver knights of Russia.
As they inched ever so close to the base, they were in sheer awe of the size of the mega–structure as they looked at it from within their airmobile which made its way to the back of the base in an attempt to stay clear and hide from the knights. As Pops, Tony, and Bismarck made their way to the main door of the base, Pops, true to his word, did as he said he would and knocked on the door, which was answered by a silver knight.
“We have a prisoner, a human being,” Pops said and immediately the door was opened.
“Where was it found?” the silver knight who was guarding the door asked.
“We found it in Tomsk, it is still alive, and we were told by our superiors to bring it here so that it can be sent to the Invisible Dome,” Pops replied.
“Very well, you may proceed,” the silver knight stated, and with that Pops, Tony and Bismarck gained entry to the base of the silver knights without a shot taken and without a life lost.
“Where do we go now?” Bismarck asked.
“We need to get to one of the doors at the back of the facility, it is door TB199. That’s where they’ll be waiting for us,” Tony replied, and with that Pops, Tony and Bismarck embarked on their journey within the base of the silver knights in the hopes of finding door TB199, and with it, the rest of the thirteen kamikazes as well.
Meanwhile, Ava and the rest of the kamikazes finally made their way around the base and spotted the door which Pops said would be there. As they hid in the distance and relative safety of a pile of old machinery and waited for Pops, Tony, and Bismarck to open door TB199, Ava and John still felt awkward about their earlier conversation.
Meanwhile, Amare, Stryker, and Max then entered the large airmobile, and everyone began getting the weapons ready for their eventual trek to find the power source of the silver knights. As Max saw Ava he ran towards her and wrapped his hands around her, and she hugged him back in return, and he then leaned forward to kiss her and she ever so slightly moved her face away.
“I’m sorry, I thought you would be okay with it,” Max said.
“It’s okay, it’s nothing to do with you, I just have a lot on my mind, just like everyone else,” Ava told Max in hopes of making him understand why she moved her face away from his kiss.
Meanwhile, out of the corner of his eye John saw what happened and as he looked towards Ava their eyes caught and for a slight second as their eyes were locked upon each other a sudden wave of heat coursed through Ava’s body and as she screamed out “Dad!” her mind went blank and she fell to the floor.
Upon seeing Ava fall, Dean quickly rushed to her side, and so did Max and John and Sarah, and as they called out her name there was no response, and she lay there, unconscious and unaware of what was happening around her.
At the same time Amanda shouted out, “We have company everyone; seven silver knights are headed in our direction. What should I do?”
Upon hearing that, Stryker rushed to the front of the airmobile to assess the situation and he saw that the knights were headed towards the airmobile with guns drawn and ready for combat. Then without any warning, the knights began to fire upon the airmobile and Stryker shouted, “We have to get out of here,” and with that Amanda started the airmobile and began to fly away in the opposite direction from the base of the knights.
As the airmobile sped away; Dean, Max, and Sarah were still tending to Ava, “Wake up Ava! Wake up!” Dean shouted, but it was of no use as her mind was in another world, a world where she would learn among other things, how to resurrect the dead; and her teacher would be none other than the great Galiac.
CHAPTER TWENTY–FIVE
As Ava screamed out the words “Dad!” she awoke to find herself in another world, and she curiously looked
around at her surroundings trying to make sense of what was happening as what seemed like only seconds ago, she was in an airmobile outside of the base of the silver knights in Lake Baikal, Russia.
As she looked around, she was surrounded by fire as far as the eye can see yet as she touched the scorching fire around her it was cool to the touch. Then a voice called out to her, “Ava my child,” and as she turned in the direction of the voice the sweltering fire that surrounded her disappeared, and she was now in an empty white space and in front of her stood Galiac.
As Galiac walked towards her, she felt slightly afraid but he then reached out his hand to her and said, “My name is Galiac, and I mean you no harm.”
Upon hearing those words and seeing the expression on his face, it put Ava at ease, and her fear was gone, and she approached Galiac, and he then reached out to her and embraced her and held her tightly against his liquefied body.
“You are precious my child, and you are making your mother so proud right now,” Galiac said to her.
“You know my mother? Where is she?” Ava asked.
“She is waiting for you on the other side Ava,” Galiac replied.
“Isn’t this the other side?” Ava asked.
“No my child, this is the realm of the undead. In this realm our bodies don’t exist, and we are only brought here through the power of our mind and soul,” Galiac told her.
“Why am I here?” Ava asked.
“You are here to know five things; firstly – John’s soul has traveled many millennia to reach you – he was your brother in one of his past lives, and upon his death in another one of his past lives he pledged allegiance to your soul for eternity, and our Great Creator granted him that wish,” Galiac said to Ava, in hopes of making her realize the importance of John in her life.
“Why would he do that?” Ava asked.
“Because his love for you was so great and so pure that God allowed John’s soul to find yours and now that your souls have met, your bond will become unbreakable,” Galiac replied.
