by Jake Marcionette

After closing the basement door, I told Michael to hold on, and I headed for my mom’s office. Two of the great things about Mom are her attention to detail and her acute organizational skills. She is one of those moms who are always taking pictures of the family, especially us kids.

Every play, recital, game, and special moment, Mom was there, snapping away. I grew up with a camera in my face. And so did Alexis. Unfortunately for my big sis, she’s just not as photogenic as I am.

Browsing the numerous bookcases full of photo albums, I took down a few of my personal favorites: “Alexis—Potty Success,” “Alexis—Birthday (Grumpy, Grumpy),” “Alexis—First and LAST Ballet Lesson,” and “Alexis—Cuts Her Own Hair”!

As I marched back downstairs with albums stuffed under each arm, I thought about my AWESOMENESS. Not so funny anymore, is it, Alexis? It’s good to be Jake Ali Mathews. I am THE GREATEST!

Jake Marcionette is a seventh-grader living with his mom, dad, and big sister in Florida. He wrote the manuscript for Just Jake when he was just twelve years old. In addition to writing, Jake loves playing lacrosse and annoying his sister, Alexis. You can learn more about Jake at www.justjake.com.
