  ‘Wuss,’ he said, kissing the top of her head. ‘And the second thing?’

  ‘I want you to wear a kilt at our wedding, so I can see just how bony your knees really are before I say “I do.”’

  He tilted her chin and gave her a hard stare. ‘You drive a very hard bargain, Alex Lorimer, but, yes, I’ll wear a kilt. And the third thing?’

  She stretched up, and touched his hair.

  ‘Maybe Bunty’s right. Maybe you should get your hair cut.’

  And he laughed, and kissed her again.
