  Acknowledgments

I’d like to start this letter by apologizing for having killed off Jarod and Leigh. Until the very end, I wanted to save them, give them the happily ever after they so deserved, but I would’ve done so for the wrong reasons, for selfish reasons, to preserve your heart and mine.

This book was the hardest and most painful book I’ve written in my four-year career. I loved and loathed every second of it, because I knew where the story was going. Most of the time, my plots take unexpected turns, but not this time. This time, it all unfolded according to plan.

  My tremendously sad plan.

However, I offered you a silver lining at the end. That wasn’t planned. Feather was supposed to be a standalone, but I fell into my world too deep to surface. I won’t tell you all I have designed for Asher and Celeste and the celestial gang, but I will admit you’ll get that Happily Ever After.

  For everyone.

What I will tell you is that the story takes place four years later and that the clock is ticking for Celeste who’s lost all motivation to ascend.

  Now onto the acknowledgments’ part.

First of all, thank you. I am so grateful you picked up my book and read all of my words. I hope you’ve enjoyed the journey and will come on others with me.

Next, I’d like to thank the members in my Facebook reader group Olivia’s Darling Readers for their input, enthusiasm, and constant love. If you enjoyed the setting, you have them to thank for it—they picked Paris. From this wonderful group, I want to send an extra big hug to Kate Anderson for her astounding proofing skills, and Kalli Bunch and Maria Silk for reading an early copy of Feather and giving me such helpful feedback. Slipping in a big thank you to the woman who edited my angel romance, Kelly Hartigan.

Thirdly, Astrid, Katie, Theresea. My dream team. My work colleagues. My besties. I heart you three so darn much. Thank you for always making time for me and my books.

Fourthly, my husband. This story was about soul mates. If you had any doubts, Jon, you are mine, so you are not allowed to go anywhere, because there is no version of my life that would be worth living without you in it. When we met, you told me it was love at first sight, that you knew I would be it for you. Your unwavering conviction and gifts baring our entwined initials just about scared me right back to New York, but in retrospect, I was immature and selfish, and hadn’t yet understood that I’d won the love lottery. Every single day, I grow a little more in love with you, which is frightening, because I’m aware forever doesn’t exist, although I’d like to think there’s something after this life. You can be certain of something, though. If there is an afterlife, I will find you. It’s no longer just our initials that are entwined, but our very souls.

And our blood. Hope you appreciated my gory transition to the fifth people I wanted to thank: my children. My wonderful, loud (oh, so loud), vibrant children, Adam, Gabrielle, and Estée. Thank you for making my life so colorful and vanquishing boredom before it could ever take root. You might not own all of my time, but you do own all of my heart.

To the family I was born into, I wish there was no geographical distance between us. I wish we could still all live in the same city. Not in the same house, though . . . Don’t think I could survive my father’s need to close every gaping door or my little sister’s hording tendencies. Sorry for singling you two out. Next time, I’ll target the others. ;)

To the family I married into, I love you and our lively WhatsApp chat very much. What luck to have been adopted by such an extraordinary and united clan.

  Love always,

  Olivia

  About the Author

USA TODAY bestselling author Olivia Wildenstein grew up in New York City and earned her bachelor’s in comparative literature from Brown University. After designing jewelry for a few years, Wildenstein traded in her tools for the writing life, which made more sense considering her college degree.

When she’s not sitting at her computer, she’s psychoanalyzing everyone she meets (Yes. Everyone), eavesdropping on conversations to gather material for her next book, and attempting not to forget one of her kids in school.

She has a slight obsession with romance, which might be the reason why she writes it. She’s a hybrid author of over a dozen Young Adult love stories.
