As night fell and stars quilted the sky, Cara knew deep down that theirs was an epic one-in-a-hundred-million Paris and Helena kind of love. She and Levi were meant for each other. Whatever came their way, whatever they created, it could only be better if they were together. They were synergetic. Electric. Hypnotic.

He kissed her tenderly then and she returned his affection with gentle certainty. Together, they sat on the veranda steps as Love Cat appeared and curled, purring around their legs. While they acclimatized to the new status quo, they started charting out the possibilities for their new life together, content to share and imagine and argue and build their castles in the air.

Except those castles would soon be reality, Cara thought happily, squeezing his hand and accepting another reserved kiss from his luscious lips.

“You know, I did leave one bed in the place,” he told her mischievously.

Her pulse skipped. She licked her lips and smiled at him with seductively witchy eyes.

“The oriental mahogany? The Arabian fantasy?”

  “Which one do you think?”

At once, she knew it was the white wrought iron number with the plain yellow doona. Despite all their dream spinning and wishes, it seemed important that they start this life together stripped of fiction and pretense.

“Why don’t you show me?” she purred, thinking that it really didn’t matter which bed he had saved, only that it was close by and ready for them because she wanted him badly and figured the gravel driveway would be rough on her skin.

He took her hand, helped her to her feet, and walked her inside to the whitewashed room with the yellow doona. Her mind registered the small white velvet jeweler’s box on the nightstand and her heart leapt. But his hand was on her breast, his mouth was trailing along her jaw, the heat of him was driving her wild, and she wanted to touch him everywhere all at once.

Their loving was wild and tender, passionate and touching, filled with everything they felt, all they hoped, and their heartfelt promises to one another. Love. Only you. Eternity.
