I must also thank my initial readers, Sasha Bley-Vroman and Gerald Miller, who always give me that first intimation of how the book might go down with the public. A special thanks to my son Biski, who reads my books with astonishing enjoyment.
And finally, of course, I thank my kind, clever, and long-suffering partner Terry, who willingly drops whatever he is doing or thinking to listen, sage advice at the ready, when I burst out with “What if I . . .”
Iona Whishaw was born in British Columbia. After living her early years in the Kootenays, she spent her formative years living and learning in Mexico, Nicaragua, and the US. She travelled extensively for pleasure and education before settling in the Vancouver area. Throughout her roles as youth worker, social worker, teacher, and award-winning high school principal, her love of writing remained consistent, and compelled her to obtain her master’s in creative writing from the University of British Columbia. Iona has published short fiction, poetry, poetry translation, and one children’s book, Henry and the Cow Problem. A Killer in King’s Cove was her first adult novel. Her heroine, Lane Winslow, was inspired by Iona’s mother who, like her father before her, was a wartime spy. Visit ionawhishaw.com to find out more.

The Lane Winslow Series
Lane Winslow is an ex-British Intelligence officer who, in search of a peaceful life following the harrowing years of WWII, settles into the tiny apple-growing community of King’s Cove. There, in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, she finds friends, neighbours and, to her great dismay, a corpse in her water supply. Bound by the Wartime Secrets Act, she is obligated to keep her past confidential, and must rely on her unique skill set to clear her name of the heinous crime—which, of course, sparks the suspicions of the nearby Nelson Police Department.
