Sugar Baby Lies

“I saw this in a porno once.”

His eyes flew open, a bark of laughter escaping at my words. “What?”

He sounded incredulous, as if he couldn’t believe I had watched porn, let alone that I would talk about it while we were having sex.

I quickly realized how awkward this was but I couldn’t back out now. I slid down him a little more, eliciting a moan from him as more words tumbled from my mouth.

“Yep. Of course, it was only once because I thought it was so cheesy,” I said, rushing ahead as he continued staring at me with amusement. “And her socks. They were striped, neon orange and green. I asked myself ‘why wouldn’t she take those off before filming?’ because they were so distracting!”

  His lips quirked. “Lucy…”

  “I know!”

With a swift unexpected movement, he had me on my back and I wrapped my legs around him. Amazingly, our bodies still clung together.

“Nice,” I said, verbalizing my appreciation of his skills. “But—“

Covering my mouth with his, he cut off whatever I had been about to say. His grip on my hips held me steady as he inched forward, letting both of us feel everything until he couldn’t go any further. With a groan, he stopped moving and I enjoyed every single sensation coursing through my body. Maybe I felt so much more thanks to my pre-sex orgasm; I didn’t really know. Yet this was definitely way better than my first and only time I’d ever had sex and I relished every moment of it.

He moved slow, each inward stroke sending sensations I couldn’t even describe through my body as our mouths meshed, our tongues tangling. He released my mouth to kiss down my jaw and onto my neck. I smiled.

“Mmm, this is—“ I started to say how nice it was.

“No more talking,” he said, cutting me off before chuckling.

Then he covered my mouth once more, my reply lost in his mouth, pleasure overtaking everything else.

It was a beautiful start to the sexual aspect of our relationship.

  Chapter Nine

“You sure you don’t need me to come with you?”

Annalina and I were returning home today to pack up and prepare to move back here.

Bradley stood behind me with his hands on my shoulders. At his question, I smiled at him in the mirror and finished buttoning my shirt, then shook my head.

“I’ll be fine.” I turned around to face him. “Besides, you’ll get enough of my mother when she is living here with us.”

He grinned. “With us. I like that.” He slid one hand down my back until he reached my ass and tugged me closer.

Our bodies a whisper apart, his other hand snaked around my neck, settling at the nape of my neck as his lips met mine.

It was weird to have him being so freely affectionate after two years. But I wouldn’t complain. Bradley’s kisses were delicious and I could, without a doubt, get used to this.

My hands gripped his waist on either side as he ran his tongue along my lips, seeking entrance. Before I could grant him access, Annalina’s voice had us jumping apart.

“Ugh, mom!” She was standing in the doorway with hands on hips and a smile on her face as I glanced at her. “I don’t wanna see that!”

Bradley chuckled and stepped back as I walked toward her. “Yeah, you look really bothered with that grin on your face. But in that case, you know not to just walk in here any time then, don’t you?”

Annalina threw her arms up in the air, smile widening. “You told me to come get you when I was ready to go.”

“Where is your bag?” I asked, looping my arm through hers. “By the door?”

At her nod, I looked at Bradley. “I guess we’re ready to go.”

“Well,” he said, smiling. “We should get going then. Wouldn’t want you guys to be late for your flight.”

Within minutes, we were out the door and in the car, on our way to the airport. Bradley had taken the morning off — the first time since I’d known him to do such a thing — insistent that he take us there and see us off.

As Annalina sat in the backseat, earbuds in and music blaring from her iPod, Bradley reached over and clasped my hand in his, shocking me with the gesture and his words.

  “I’ll miss you.”

I couldn’t help my reaction; my mouth fell open and I stared at him wide-eyed. When I didn’t say anything, his eyes left the road to peek at me, which led to a chuckle from him. I had no doubt it was in response to the look on my face.

“I don’t know whether I am more amused at the look on your face or insulted that you are so shocked I’d say I’ll miss you.” His eyes back on the road again, he gently squeezed my hand. “I am sure I said it when you asked me why I was proposing to you, didn’t I?”

I snapped my mouth shut, gulping. “Yes. You just…you never say it when we part. I always said I would when you would ask me, but…”

He lifted my hand up to his mouth, pressing a kiss to the back of it. “Things are different now. You are going to be my wife; I think I can admit that I will miss you until you are back here.”

I swear, in that moment, if I hadn’t already fallen in love Bradley, that would’ve sealed it for me.

  “I will miss you too.”

“I know,” he said, winking at me. “After all, I expect you to. That hasn’t changed.”

  “Ha!”

He chuckled and kissed my hand again, making it impossible for me to keep the grin off my face.

I had no reservations, even though I probably should’ve had some at the sudden change of direction in our relationship.

But I didn’t. I loved him and I would take him any way he would let me have him.

It wasn’t a declaration of love, but if he missed me, that was more than I ever could have hoped for when it came to Bradley.

While the rest of the ride to the airport was spent in companionable silence, all I could think about was how long the next month would be while we were apart.

And if I could possibly get things done fast enough to come back to him sooner rather than later.

By the time our plane landed and we made it home, it was late enough that my mother had gone to bed.

This made me extremely happy. The day had been long enough without having to deal with her hysterics before I’d gotten a good nights sleep. Swearing Annalina to secrecy until I had the chance to break the news, we both headed to bed.

It didn’t take long for the morning to arrive. After taking a quick shower, I woke Annalina up for school and headed downstairs to get some breakfast.

As I expected, my mother sat at the table, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. She didn’t even look up as I walked past.

“What time did you get in?”

No “Good Morning” or “How was your trip”? Yep, it was going to be a good day.

“Morning to you too,” I responded, unable to resist subtly pointing out her lack of manners. “And pretty late.”

Turning the kettle on to make some tea, I turned toward her and leaned back against the counter, crossing my arms. It also hid the ring I wasn’t quite ready for her to see yet.

When she didn’t say anything, or even look at me, I sighed. “You didn’t call me while I was gone, so I assume everything went okay?”

At that, she put down her cup and glared at me. “Yes. Not that you actually care.”

Now, at thirty, I should’ve been able to resist the urge to roll my eyes at my mother. I knew that, but at the instant negativity from her, I couldn’t resist. I gave in, watching her eyes narrow before I turned back around and pulled a mug down from the cabinet.

“There you go, acting like a teenaged girl,” she snapped. “Rolling your eyes at me is juvenile.”

Knowing she was expecting me to snap back at her, I held my response in check. She said nothing else, the silence carrying on as I prepared my tea. Then I opened up the fridge and pulled out a container of yogurt, eating a few bites before turning back to her.

  “You kn
ow what is juvenile?” I asked, picking up my tea and taking a sip. “Your claim that I don’t care. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t ask, would I?”

  “Now see—“

“No!” Her eyebrows shot up in shock at my interruption and I rushed ahead before she recovered. “I’m sick of your crap. You have how many kids and who takes care of you? I do, even though I sure as hell don’t have to. Yet all you do is make nasty comments all the time — about me, about Annalina and her imaginary bad behavior, everything!”

  “Lucy—“

  “Shut up.”

I set my tea on the counter and tossed the yogurt container in the trash before stalking up to the table and slamming my hands down on it. “Look.”

She glanced down at my hands, then back at my face, eyes wide and questioning.

“That’s right,” I said with a laugh, answering her unspoken question. “He asked me to marry him and we are moving to live with him. You can come or not. I don’t care.”

She flinched, saying nothing as I continued. I knew I was being cruel. I didn’t care. I was sick of her verbal abuse.

“You won’t, however, be rude to Bradley if you do come with us. If you are, you will find yourself back on a plane here to live with someone else so fast your head will spin. You want to be miserable, that’s fine, but you keep your damn thoughts to yourself. I doubt he’d put up with you being rude to me either.”

Before she could respond, Annalina walked into the kitchen.

Removing my hands from the table, I smiled at her. “What do you want for breakfast, sweetie?”

She looked at me, then her grandmother’s shocked face and back, ignoring my question. “I guess you told her. She doesn’t look very excited.”

Laughing, I went over and put my arms around her shoulders. “Of course she is! She’s just shocked, that’s all. Isn’t that right mom?”

Her answer was to smile at Annalina, then stand up and walk out of the room without another word.

“See? She’s speechless,” I joked as I opened the fridge. “Now, what do you want for breakfast? You have to hurry or you’ll be late!”

Annalina shook her head at me and took a seat at the table.

Well, I thought. This is definitely going to be interesting.

Perhaps that was just what my life needed.

  Chapter Ten

Busy with my preparations to move, the days passed pretty quick.

My mother didn’t really say much to me¸ other than to tell me that of course she would move with me, because we both knew my siblings didn’t want her living with them. They had their own lives, their own families, didn’t really have room for her, and on and on.

I knew she wouldn’t make living together with Bradley easy though, especially since she’d made it crystal clear that she wasn’t happy about my decision to accept Bradley’s proposal. No matter how many times I told her how much I loved him, she simply shook her head and told me what a huge mistake I was making.

A week later, as I was going through things and deciding whether to take them with me or donate them before my lunch with my friends to tell them the news, Bradley called.

“Lucy,” he said, smile evident in his voice. “How’re you?”

“I’m good. Just packing stuff up. You?”

“Busy, as always.” He laughed, and I imagined him running a hand through his hair, like he would always do when he had a lot on his mind. “I’m sorry I haven’t called you.”

“Don’t worry.” I shrugged even though he couldn’t see me, then laughed. “It’s not like I was worried you changed your mind or anything.”

“What? And let your mother think she’s right? Not a chance.”

I snickered at his reference to the text I’d sent him informing him of all the things my mother had said so far. He didn’t reply, but I liked sending him messages. It made me feel closer to him.

“So you did get my texts. I wondered, but figured you were really busy. And I was right.”

“Of course! I always read them all,” he assured me, his tone lowering. “Or view them all, as the case may be, even if I don’t respond.”

  At that, my face heated.

A few nights ago, I missed him so much I wanted to remind him what he was missing. Not that I thought he needed a reminder, but I’d been feeling frisky. And I wanted him to miss me as much as I missed him.

After a shower, I took a picture of my naked chest with the caption ‘wish you were here’ and sent it.

He must have taken my silence for embarrassment because he chuckled. “I loved it, Lucy. I didn’t expect it, but I definitely appreciated you doing that for me.”

“Yeah, well, don’t get use to it,” I teased. “Although I suppose soon it won’t matter.”

“Correct, since your lovely naked body will be available for me to look at and touch any time I please at home. And I’ll take advantage of that for sure.”

I heard the smile in his voice as it thickened with desire, my body reacting violently. I yearned for his touch all the time; hearing him speaking in my ear only heightened it. The passion I heard in his words coursed through my veins, making me cross my legs to try and ease the ache he wasn’t anywhere nearby to assist with.

“Bradley…this distance is too far.” I was sure he could hear my need in my voice. “I’m wish I could come back sooner rather than later, but I know I’ll just have to wait. I miss you.”

“God, am I glad to hear that! I miss you too, Lucy.”

Although weird to hear him say that he missed me, he never said anything that wasn’t true, and had never given me a reason to doubt him. I knew he meant it, which made it that much better when he did say the words.

“I know,” I said, then looked down at my watch, jumping up as I exclaimed, “Aw crap, I have to go!”

“I do, too.” He sighed. “I’ll try to call you later. Enjoy lunch with your friends, sweetheart.”

Even though he’d used that endearment before, my heart clenched with pleasure at his use of it just after saying he missed me.

“I’m sure I will. And you have a good day. Think of me.”

  “Always.”

He hung up before I could say anything else, but his admission had me grinning.

Then, I rushed to put what I wanted to donate in my car and headed to lunch.

  ~*~

Maggie, Angel and Jackie were sitting at the table when I arrived.

We always sit at the same table. In the two years since Jackie told me about sugar babies in the first place, the only thing that had changed during our get togethers was the fact nobody could smoke inside any longer. This inconvenienced Jackie, as she was the only one who smoked, but the rest of us had to hear her complain the whole time. And when it was cold out, she was extra bitchy because she refused to go stand outside to smoke instead.

It’d been a month since I’d had lunch with them though and as I approached the table, Jackie grinned and stood up.

Before I knew what was happening, she had her arms around me, enveloping me in a tight hug.

  “What the—?”

Maggie and Angel laughed as Jackie smiled at me.

“You look stunning!” Jackie gave me a once over and I knew my face flushed. “I take it your trip went well.”

I hadn’t told them much about Bradley. As my best friends, they definitely knew the real arrangement Bradley and I had, but we’d never spoken much in detail. Once I’d told them about how much he valued privacy, they’d been cool with just knowing the basics…and hearing the dirty details, of course.

After all, what good was having female friends if you couldn’t dish about your sexual life and get ideas to make it even better?

That was the best part, in my opinion.

Now, they all looked at me expectedly, waiting for me to tell them how my trip went. And I knew the easiest way to feed their curiosity.

Pulling my left hand out of my pocket, I held it up and watched as all their eyes rounded. Jackie’s mouth d
ropped open, as Angel let out a whoop of excitement. Maggie was the first to speak, a soft smile on her face as Jackie and I finally sat down.

“It’s lovely,” she said, grabbing my hand to peer closer at the ring. “How did he propose? Was it romantic?”

Since they didn’t know much about Bradley, I didn’t think they’d understand him just proposing during a random conversation. So I smiled and gave them the truth.

“For him, it was perfect. And about as romantic as he can get, I think.”

Maggie released my hand and Angel leaned over the table, waving her hand. “Let me see!”

She whistled low, examining the ring for a moment before meeting my eyes. “Elegant. Simple. Princess cut. He knows you well.”

Laughing, I tugged my hand from hers and looked at Jackie, who was still quiet.

“Okay,” I said, frowning at her. “You’ve been quiet for longer than twenty-seconds. What’s wrong?”

Maggie and Angel laughed, knowing as well as I did that Jackie was never quiet for very long. So when she said nothing, you should probably worry she was mad at you. But when Jackie just smiled, I pursed my lips and examined her before smirking.

“Something is different.” I tapped a finger against my mouth, the other two looking closely at Jackie as well. “Do you have a secret?”

As a blush stole over Jackie’s face, I finally realized what was different; the ever present scent of stale smoke was nowhere to be found.

“Oh my god! You’ve quit smoking!”

  She nodded.

  “How long?”

“For a few weeks now,” she said, looking down at her hands, then back up again. “It was hard at first, but I think I’m okay now.”

“Wow!” I threw my hands up in the air. “You’ve been smoking forever, Jackie. You always said you’d never give it up. What changed your mind?”

That was when her smile grew big, her face softening, and a certain look all women understood filled her eyes. I knew then.

“Oh, oh, oh! You’re in love, aren’t you? With who?”

Maggie and Angel joined me in looking at Jackie expectantly, whose face was flushing like mad at that moment.
