  “It’s about us. Something happened, and I’m worried about it. I don’t know what to do,” she said to him.

  “What’s up? Just tell me the truth Vivian,” he told her.

  She thought about it. Would the truth really work in this case? She didn’t know for sure but it was worth a shot.

  “Are you sure you want to know?” she asked.

  “I’m damn sure. I knew something was wrong, but I didn’t know how to approach it with you. Especially considering the way everything has been going between us,” he told her.

  She sighed. Of course he wanted to know. Of course. She moved towards her bag, grabbing the telltale pregnancy test and bringing it over.

  “Well I’ve been feeling bad lately, and I didn’t know why. I took a pregnancy test, and this is the result,” she told him.

  She popped the test into his hand, and when he held it there, he looked at her with worry.

  “Holy shit,” he said.

  “Yeah, I don’t know what to do. If people find out about us, then we’re screwed. We’re not supposed to be out there in the open, and I’m worried about what this will mean for me. I mean, I can abort it, sure, but I don’t know if I want to do that,” she admitted to him.

  He paused, looking at her like a deer in headlights.

  “Shit, what do we do?” he asked.

  She looked at him, wondering if she should tell him.

  “I mean, in truth it’s us to us. I don’t know if I want to risk showing this to the media though. I’m sure they would have a field day,” she admitted. As much as she hated to admit it, she didn’t want him to get in trouble more than she worried about her ass. She was an advertiser, and she could play it off as they knew one another beforehand, but Chad was supposed to keep up appearances. He was a billionaire for Christ’s sake, and he definitely wasn’t the type to be running around and doing this.

  “I don’t know, I really don’t know,” he muttered.

  “I don’t either. I mean, we can try to work things out, but I don’t know if it will. Maybe it is best if we just leave this in the past where it belongs,” she told him.

  He looked at her, wondering if there was anything that he could do. He sighed, glancing at her.

  “Maybe it is best if we separate. I mean, I don’t want your image to be tarnished by this. You can give the kid up for adoption in private, and we can just be friends. I hate to say it, but it might end up being this way,” he told her.

  As much as she hated admit it, she was right. It was obvious that it was only going to become harder and harder to tell the truth to one another, and it was definitely going to get messy fi they didn’t let this go, and do so fat.

  But still, there was that part within her that hated it. She didn’t want to be just friends with Chad. They got along so well, and the ad campaign was better because of the closeness, but at the same time, neither of them wanted to risk it, and it was obvious that with this, they would have to.

  “Maybe it is. Maybe it will be,” she sighed dejectedly.

  “I still scare about you Vivian, and we can still be friends, but let’s just keep our personal business out of the media,” he told her.

  She nodded, and he gave her a final peck on the lips. It seemed that it would be easy, that she would give it up for adoption, and she would be able to have the life she’s always wanted, but in truth, it made her feel miserable. This was a bad problem, and although she wanted to just put it to the side, there was no way that she could at the end of the day.

  Chapter Six

  About a month had passed and Vivian decided she would give it up for adoption when the time was right. She would give it to a family that she knew would take it, and she knew them very well. However, that wasn’t the problem with all of this, in fact that was only a smidgen of the issue.

  She was able to hide the pregnancy from most, but the guilt that she felt when she saw Chad radiated within her. They started to distance, but Vivian felt like a knife was being struck into her gut and continued to push inward. In truth, she didn’t care if people knew anymore, because the pain that she felt from hiding it and not exposing it was much much worse. She didn’t like the guilty feelings that resided within her, rather, she wished that they would go away.

  But would they? She didn’t know anymore, because she knew that they could never be fully honest with one another. She knew the only way she would ever stop feeling guilty about what had happened is if she told him the truth, but she didn’t know how to approach that. However, one day, Vivian was sitting in her office after a meeting, sighing and looking at herself.

  “Why does my heart feel so heavy? I thought ending things off would make it easier on me, but it just makes me suffer even more so,” she muttered to herself.

  “I guess that makes two of us,” he told her.

  She looked up, and immediately, he was there. Chad. He hadn’t said a pepper to her in a month, other than the standard business crap. He looked a bit more haggard though, probably the same as she did, and it was probably because of the same issue.

  They both knew this wasn’t going to work.

  Chad walked up to her, turning away in shame and trying to make the situation a tad bit less awkward.

  “So, I guess you feel the same,” he told her with a sigh.

  “How did you know?” Vivian said.

  “Because every time that I look at you, I feel the knife of guilt strike deep into me. I hate this Vivian, and right now, I feel like the worst person ever of even suggesting it. I mean, I can afford the child. I’ve got the money to support the both of us, the child, and then some. I don’t know why I even suggested separating. It’s been terrible since I did so,” he told her.

  “How so?” she managed to ask.

  “Well, I’ve never felt this alone before,” he told her.

  She admitted that she felt the same way. She did feel lonely, and ever since Chad and her hit it off, she felt like he was a piece of her in a sense, and now that he was gone, it was but a chunk of her heart that was now gone.

  “That makes two of us. I feel lonely, and I feel guilty doing this. I don’t want to give this up. I mean, I told the adoption agency that I was considering adoption, and there is a family that will take it, but I don’t really want that.

  I feel like that’s the easy way out. We’re going to have to face ourselves still, and at the end of the day, I’m going to have to have the kid, look at it in the eyes, and tell the child that I couldn’t handle it because of the life that I live. I don’t know if I can do that Chad, I really don’t,” she told him.

  He nodded. “I feel the same way. As time goes on, I see your body changing, and it hurts me to think of the life that you’re choosing. I don’t want that, and I have to say, ever since I met you, I’ve been different. I know what it means to love in a sense, and I feel that with you,” he told her.

  She looked at him with shock plastered all over her face. She knew that it was definitely going to be hard to admit that she was wrong, that she couldn’t give this man up, but she knew that it would be okay.

  “Well, do you want to be together then? Do you really love me?” she asked.

  He paused gazing into her eyes and then nodding.

  “I do love you Vivian. I do want to be with you, and I want you to keep the child. You shouldn’t have to suffer because of my stupid fucking idea, and I don’t want to see you sad like this. I miss the old you, the you that was always so happy, and after we did have sex the first time, I saw that side of you all the time, and I was falling for it. Fuck what the other people say. I already know that some wont’ like it, and you might lose business, but we can paint it as a romantic story, a story that’s real for both of us. We don’t have to pretend that life is all doom and gloom anymore, but instead, we can have a life that works for both of us, and a life where we’re both happy,” he told her.

  She had to admit, it sounded great in her mind. A happy life, a life with him, and a life with their futur

  “Are you sure you want to do this? Are you sure that you want to be with me?” she asked him.

  He paused, grinning at her with a cheeky smile. “Of course. I love you Vivian, and I will love the future child that we will create together as well,” he told her.

  She nodded in assent, looking at him with a grin.

  “I love you too Chad, always and forever,” she replied. They looked at one another with smiles on their face, and for the first time ever, Vivian felt happy and safe. She knew that whatever the cost, whatever it takes, everything will be okay.

  Their lips pressed against one another in a passionate kiss both of them knowing that they will have to face a long road ahead of them when they did decide to come out about their relationship, but in truth, it would all be okay once everything was settled out, and that’s what made Vivian happy.

  Chapter Seven

  They kissed one another softly, both of them loving the way that they felt as they stuck next to one another. For Vivian, she missed this, and he did as well, happy to feel her soft lips caress and touch her once again. Soon, he started to close the door, locking it so that nobody intruded. Most of the workers went home, but it was a good precautionary measure as well, and for Vivian, she was happy to have done it.

  The result was also mixed with the public, until she had the kid and everyone realized that they did love one another. Chad did keep his promise and he didn’t leave her after that, and Vivian thanked her stars for everything that was going on.

  She knew deep down that it wasn’t going to be easy, but rather it would be a struggle for both of them. But she was ready for whatever it took, whatever life may throw at them, whatever it may be. She didn’t want to run around and hide anymore, and that’s why she was ready to face the unknown, and she knew that no matter what, she would have Chad by her side.
