Cuffs

Discipline. Something about the way Lara said the word made Jerry's hips start a slow squirm. It was her Britishness, that's what was doing it.

“Who were you selling to this afternoon, a dealer?”

  “Naw,” Jerry said. “A congressman.”

Lara looked at her hard for a long moment, waiting for her to change her story. The technique didn't work on Jerry. She'd used it herself way too many times to fall for it.

“I see. And what rationale do we have for supplying congress with prohibited substances?”

“Contacts. It's good to have contacts.”

“That doesn't seem like part of a case being built.”

“Oh it is. It's a case of him not cutting our funding in the next round of budget negotiations.”

“You're buying a congressman with cocaine.”

  “Not me personally, the department.”

“Mhm.” Lara's eyes had gone very cold and hard, power top personified. “Suffice to say, I won't be tolerating that kind of activity in the future.”

“Suffice to say, you better take it up with the chief.”

Lara sat back, smiling slightly. “I don't think we understand one another,” she said softly. “I am the chief.”

“Have you told the six foot seven pile of beef in the chief's office that?”

“Mr Reinhardt will continue running the day to day operations of the station. I'm going to be taking a supervisory role of the special units.”

“And we are very special units,” Jerry deadpanned.

Between them, the food was getting cold. The thick-shake would have been melting if it were made of ice cream, but as it was instead made of some frothy animal by products of dubious origin, it managed to maintain its consistency.

Jerry didn't know how long they'd been looking at one another when Lara stood. All she knew was when the woman crooked her finger, she went. The heat between them had been growing the entire time they'd been alone, and the question of lesbian or not was receding far into the distance with all the speed and alacrity of a purse-snatcher.

Lara reached for Jerry's hand. Drew her close. And then they were kissing. It happened so quickly Jerry wasn't sure she could believe it, but the touch and the taste of Lara's tongue, slightly salty from the fry confirmed that it was real.

Jerry took the opportunity to explore Lara's body, running her hands over the woman's ample hips and strong thighs. Lara must've spent a lot of time in the gym. Before Jerry could ascertain her complete exercise regime, Lara's hand slid down the front of Jerry's jeans. Jerry gave silent thanks that she didn't wear anything skin tight. It would have been a travesty if she'd had to have experienced Lara's skilful touch through thick denim. Instead she felt the pads of Lara's fingers settling over her clit and sliding down her panty clad slit in a slow glide that left her hips riding forward.

  “You like that, hmm?”

“Oh fuck yes,” Jerry whispered against Lara's lips. “I like that a whole lot.”

Back and forth the fingertips rubbed, teasing Jerry's pussy until finally Lara took pity on the writhing vice cop and slid the slick, soaked material to the side.

Jerry sucked in a gasp of air as the woman's finger touched her bare pussy. It was like being caressed by a goddess, the touch was so sure, so expertly placed, so poised to stir even more lust out of the moistness between Jerry's thighs.

“Usually I'd be on top,” Jerry said between kisses.

“Not with me you won't be.” Lara slid her hand away and turned her fingers to the task of stripping Jerry's t-shirt and bra off. “I want you naked.”

Jerry had no objection to being naked. She worked at pushing her jeans down whilst Lara freed her breasts and within a short minute, she was entirely bare from head to toe.

  “What about you?”

“I'll keep mine on for the moment.”

It was odd, but when Lara slid down her body and placed a soft kiss on Jerry's netherlips, Jerry decided she didn't much care. Lara's neatly made up mouth looked amazing between her thighs, lips kissing along the line of Jerry's slit, tongue lapping at the swelling folds.

“Fuck,” Jerry swore softly as Lara pressed fingers to her pussy, gently spread her outer lips and began a feast of such restraint and softness that Jerry was left clinging to every available surface in an attempt to anchor herself.

It seemed to go on for hours, the strokes of pink tongue that rose from the center of her core and lapped all the way to the tip of her stiff clit, swirled about the nub without providing the direct touch it so desired and then descended once more to a slow whirl about the clenching entrance.

And then the fingers came, two digits sliding into Jerry's pussy with an insistence that would not be denied. They curled forward, pressing against the sensitive front wall of her canal and moved in a slow, but regular rhythm that matched the rocking of Jerry's hips.

Lara rose, kissing her way up Jerry's bare body, paying attention to the pink tipped nipples atop each breast whilst she worked her fingers in and out, in and out and finally captured Jerry's lips in a kiss that tasted of her.

“Fuck,” Jerry groaned into Lara's mouth. She lifted her legs up, spread them around Lara's waist so her new lover could reach deeper, fill her more fully. The touch of Lara's black slacks against her bare legs reminded her of the imbalance of power. She was sitting on the interview desk buck naked, pussy spread around Lara's fingers, lips taken by her mouth. She was riding her hips up and down, presenting herself for the fucking... but Lara, oh Lara was cool, calm and in control. She was arched over Jerry, her height making it possible to wrap one hand around the back of Jerry's head and pull her into a kiss as she thrust inside her willful lover.

As her climax approached, rumbling through her nether regions like a freight train, Jerry lost all sense of space and time. All that mattered was the thrusting between her legs, the touch of Lara's lips, the connection to the feminine essence that was rushing through her, filling her, consuming her, taking all coherent thought and consigning it to the trash.

Oh god. She was going to... She was going.... “Ohh...” Jerry's orgasmic cry was muffled by Lara's hand. The long fingers clamped over her mouth, keeping her quiet even as the digits on Lara's other hand urged her through one of the longest, most satisfying climaxes of her life. Unable to speak, Jerry could only stare into Lara's eyes and see her climax reflected in the ocean of their shared gaze. Holy fuck, the woman knew how to make love.

Slowly Lara slid her fingers out of Jerry's pussy and, still with her hand clamped over Jerry's mouth, treated her lover to the sight of her delicately sucking the juices off each finger. The sight was enough to make Jerry's pussy clench tight, fresh arousal already flowing.

But the moment way over. Lara moved her hand, restored Jerry's power of speech, and wrapped her in a hug.

“Wow,” Jerry panted, resting her head against Lara's chest. “That was... fucking hot. Your turn?”

“I have a meeting with the police commissioner, I'm afraid,” Lara said, kissing Jerry's forehead. “Be good. Try not to sell any crack.”

Just like that, she was gone. The room suddenly seemed cold. Jerry became aware of the fact that a fry had worked its way into her butt crack. Having flicked it free she started putting her clothes back on, hoping that the mics and cameras hadn't been on in the interview room. Not that she gave a fuck if they were.

  Chapter Three

Lara's meeting with the commissioner had gone fairly well. She was looking forward to seeing the spitfire of a vice cop again. Jerry was hot. She was trouble too, but her charms were already making up for any shortcomings she might have in the behavior department.

Spotting Jerry hanging out near the coffee machine, Lara approached.

  “Hello you.”

“Hey.” Jerry responded. There was a certain coolness to her demeanor that had not been present earlier. She glanced at Lara with those dark doe eyes, then looked away, apparently disinterested.

  “What's wrong?”r />
  “Nothing.”

“Now that's a lie.” Lara put a hand on Jerry's shoulder. It was shrugged off almost immediately.

“Jerry.” Lara persisted, this time verbally. “Talk to me.”

“What's the point? You probably have something better to do.”

Lara checked her watch. “Actually I have a meeting with you and the rest of the vice squad.”

  “Lucky us.”

Making a mental note to pull Jerry aside afterward, Lara let the distance and the mild rudeness slide. There were people waiting for her in the meeting room and she didn't want to keep them longer than necessary.

Having ushered the tardy Jerry into the meeting, Lara took her place at the head of the room and looked out over the assembled undercover team. Fifteen officers. All of them in street clothing. It looked like a gathering of West City's worst and dullest, but behind the unkempt clothing, the stained jeans, and the half-shaved faces, were some of the bravest officers on the force. These were the people who walked where angels feared to tread. She had nothing but respect for them, however the fact of the matter was that they were getting more than a little out of hand. Two had been bought in charges for inappropriate behavior in connection to a prostitution ring, and several more were skirting the boundaries of the law in connection with drug offenses.

It was the old problem, gaze too long into an abyss and the abyss gazes back into you. These men and women spent every single day gazing into the abyss. They needed someone to yank them back from the edge from time to time. That was her job. They likely wouldn't like her for it, not at first, but Lara was used to being disliked. She was, in the immortal catchphrase of the generic reality TV show contestant, 'not there to make friends'. She was there to keep order and make their working environment as safe as possible.

Jerry sat dead center of the group, cracking wise with a couple of skin-headed men with white nation tattoos. Neither of them were actually white supremacists, of course, but they did a damn good impression of it.

“Ladies and gentleman,” she began. “Thank you for coming.”

  “You're welcome, your ladyship.”

It was Jerry who had piped up, of course. Lara considered the idea that it might not have been a good idea to sleep with one of the biggest upstarts in the vice team, but she couldn't bring herself to regret it. It had been too good to regret. She'd deal with Jerry later. Or sooner, if the brat kept acting up.

“My name is Lara Ashcroft. I'm going to be taking oversight for this team. From now on, assignments will come through me. I will be reviewing current assignments and making changes where necessary.”

There was a rumble of discontent. They didn't like change and they didn't like her. Lara hadn't really expected a warm reception. She was aware that her image was too poised and sleek to appeal to the vice team. They wouldn't take her seriously until it became evident that she meant every word she said.

  “Any questions?”

“Yeah.” A man with a rough mohawk spoke up. “Why the change? We liked Sarge.”

Sarge was what they called the Chief of Police. Sarge was old school hard nosed cop. Lara liked him too, but the fact remained he didn't have the vice team under effective control. There had been several incidents referred to independent commissions over the last year, and three fatalities in the past eighteen months. She should have been looking at a team of almost twenty. Instead there were empty chairs where now fallen officers had once sat.

“I have experience managing vice teams across New York, Chicago and Boston,” she explained. “Under my leadership, we managed to reduce injuries and fatalities...”

“... and arrests.” Again Jerry interrupted.

“That's the East Coast. We do things differently on the West,” Mohawk spoke in the ensuing silence.

“I'm aware of that,” Lara said. “It's why I'm here. To streamline processes, increase safety and ensure greater oversight.”

“Mary Poppins, come to give us a spoonful of sugar and make the medicine go down,” Jerry snorted. There was a smattering of answering snorts. In some respects, it was like addressing a room full of sub-linguistic swine. Lara was well aware they could all be eloquent if they chose to be, but they preferred passive resistance. The moment they walked out the door, it would be business as usual. Only Jerry had the courage to mouth off, looking very pleased with herself too, she was.

“My office is two doors down from the Chief's. If any of you have any questions, feel free to drop by. You're free to return to your duties.”

There was a scraping of chairs as everybody got up to leave.

“Officer Schwartz, come and see me in my office,” she added.

A chorus of “oooooooh” made Jerry smirk. Lara didn't find it quite so amusing.

  *****

A good half hour after the meeting disbanded, Jerry scuffed along to Lara's office. She found Lara sitting behind her desk, tapping away at a laptop. She didn't seem to notice the delay, which annoyed Jerry. What was the point of making a point if nobody noticed your point?

  “You wanted to see me?”

“I won't tolerate being interrupted in meetings,” Lara said firmly, closing the laptop. “And I won't tolerate the back-chat.”

Jerry shrugged. It was all very well and good for Lara to say that, but as far as Jerry was concerned, Lara could take her non-tolerance and take a flying leap.

“Is that all you had to say?”

“No,” Lara said. “I want you to tell me why you're upset. It's fairly obvious that you are. What's wrong, Jerry?”

“What's wrong is you fucked me and ran,” Jerry said. “You used me like a disposable napkin.”

  “Ah.”

  “Yeah. Ah.”

“I'm sorry,” Lara said, standing up and moving around the table to face Jerry more closely. “You're right to be upset. I'm not usually... I wouldn't usually do that.”

“So it's not your plan to sleep your way through the vice unit?”

“No,” Lara said. “It's not. But it is my plan to have dinner with you.”

Jerry hadn't anticipated the relief which swept over her. So she hadn't been the victim of some succubi's seduction. Lara liked her – at least enough to have a meal with her.

“You mean a date? I'll have you know, I don't put out on a first date.”

“No,” Lara said, “me neither. Only before one.”

They smiled at one another. “Really,” Lara said, reaching out to stroke Jerry's arm. “I'm sorry I left you like that.”

“Well, it was a hell of a way to start a new job. Bodes well for the vice squad,” Jerry winked.

“I think it would be best we didn't mention that, for the time being, if you don't mind,” Lara said. “The incident in the interview room, I mean.”

“And I think it would be better if water was wet and the sky was blue. Of course I'm not going to tell people. What do you take me for?”

“A sassy brat who prefers to make trouble than talk about her feelings?”

“Maybe,” Jerry admitted. “But I'm not stupid.”

“Of course not. Now, I hope we understand one another on the sass front. I don't want to have to dress you down in front of your peers.”

  “Dress me down?”
