The Flower Shop on Foxley Street

She pulled back, her lips a mere inch from his. The look of love and peace in his eyes was overpowering. Will was finally free, in every sense of the word.

‘You let me go out into the world, without knowing if and when I would be back. When I heard about Kim, I almost hopped on the first plane home, but I stopped myself. It wouldn’t have been fair, and I know you needed to grieve for her. When Roger told me about the garden, my garden, I knew you still cared.’

Will brushed his lips against hers, just once. He rested his forehead on hers. ‘I never stopped caring, I just wanted you to live your life.’

‘I will,’ she said before pressing her lips against his, ‘with you.’

Will closed his eyes and gave in to the kiss. They kissed like they would for the rest of their days. With truth, and love. They kissed passionately and with relief that they had been through so much, travelled so many miles, and still found each other, right here. Back where it all began.

‘I love you, Lily,’ Will said. ‘I always will.’

Lily looked at the man who valued honour and trust, and knew that she would never let him go. He had been alone for far too long. They both had, and today was the day it ended.

‘I love you too, Will Singer.’ And she kissed him again, because he was hers.
