Buille - strike a blow at a foe using surrounding forces, useful if fighting at a distance.
Buireadh – To great a distraction using whatever is surrounding you.
Cabhair – Can relieve any suffering felt by those around you
Càirich - To mend or repair
Cleith – Can conceal that which you wish to hide from an enemy
Coimhead - To see someone and what they are doing, when using the staff the user can use reflective surfaces to see those whom they require, they are limited by distance
Cuairteag – Can create a whirlpool
Daor – To enslave those around you to carry out your bidding
Ioc – A word which can be used to heal people. Must be used sparingly as either uses the energy of the caster or that of living organisms surrounding the caster
Nathura Gathera – the summoning spell, can be used to summon evil spirits, but also used by a staff wielder to summon another MacKay.
Rabhadh – Can send a warning signal, this again can vary as it uses the forces around you.
Srad – Can produce or manipulate fire
Suaimhneach – Can calm animals, it can also be used to communicate with such animals.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
From Hamilton in Lanarkshire, Clare has a History degree from Strathclyde University and now lives in London with her husband. Having spent some time trying to find some magic in various fields, she is now concentrating on her career as a writer. Clare was drawn to writing by her life long passion for reading and inventing stories. As a child, Clare loved nothing more than curling up on a window seat in her local library and being carried away by a magical story. A fantasy fiction fanatic, she has currently completed her first book ‘The Long Staff', and is currently working on the second installment of 'The Staff Wielder Series', called 'The Ancient Exile'. She is at her happiest when she can disappear into a world of her own armed with nothing but a laptop and her imagination.
