“This is great,” Brian said.
“You said the old one didn’t stand up as well as it should,” Daes said. “It was a pain to forge this though.”
“That’s because I didn’t know how to,” Jesela said.
“Thanks you two,” Brian said. He slung the sheath around his shoulder to let the blade rest on his back. “I can’t wait to try it out.”
Epilogue
Sunadin and Myden talked for a while before Siata and Baeron entered the brig. Myden handed Baeron an injector.
“The drug inside this suppresses telepathy in my people for up to ten standard days per dose,” he explained.
Baeron looked at it for a moment, “Alright.”
Myden went to leave.
“Come visit when you have the time,” Sunadin said.
“I will,” Myden said before walking out the door.
Sunadin turned to Siata. “Where will I be kept for the duration?”
“We will bring you to Confederation Headquarters,” Siata answered. “After that we’re not sure.”
“I will cooperate with anything the Confederation asks of me,” Sunadin said.
“Then answer this question,” Siata started. “Who controls the machine?”
Sunadin laughed. “Such a thing I’m not privy to. I suspect General Regen knows, and perhaps Myden.”
Baeron growled. “I’d better go talk to him.”
“Don’t bother,” Siata said. “If Myden knows and hasn’t told us it means we don’t need to know.”
“As you wish captain,” Baeron said.
“You trust Myden a lot, don’t you?” Sunadin asked.
“Enough to know he knows what’s best,” Siata said. “One more question before we leave. How many Greys like you are left?”
“In all of Alden there are less than a hundred,” Sunadin answered.
“What happened to the others?” Baeron asked.
“They were deemed unnecessary by god, therefore, euthanized,” Sunadin said.

After giving as many ladies as he could a dance Brian sat down to enjoy some food. Valis sat next to him and did likewise.
“This world is beautiful,” Brian said.
“I suspect we’ll feel the same when we set foot on Earth,” Valis said.
“Do you think we have a chance?” he asked.
She nodded. “The Minerva says our chances of winning the war increased to fifty percent. I’ll take that any day.”
“Fifty percent for you is a sure thing,” Brian said. “What is that?”
She looked at her plate and noticed she’d taken a piece of what looked like lasagna. To Brian’s keen nose it smelled just like it as well.
“Seles said she was experimenting with recipes from Earth,” Valis said. “It smelled good, so I’d thought I’d give it a try.”
Brian looked at one of the buffet tables and noticed a number of Earth foods from his memories. The most popular seemed to be pizza, lasagna, and donuts.
“Cultural imperialism at its worst,” he said. “Well, I have to get back to the Freedom. Let’s get together tomorrow night.”
“Is it one of your free nights?” Valis asked.
“You got it,” Brian said.
When he went to leave Valis watched him carefully. As he stopped to talk with someone along the way, Valis saw a ghostly form of Brian step out of his body and wave to her before disappearing. When he walked away for real a terrible sense of dread came over her. The noise and fanfare from the celebration muted as she saw him disappear into the night.

Afterword
If this is the first book written by me that you’ve read I’m betting you’re confused. I understand this all too well because I’ve jumped into the middle of an ongoing series without a clue where it started. This series began when I started writing The Lost Hero in the spring of 2007. In the years after that I wrote Sands of Aquarius and Sojourn Into Despair. I then decided to call the first three books The Heaven Saga. In 2013 I wrote the Freedom Saga, which includes Heaven’s Light, Freedom’s Bell, and The Dawn of Liberty. Those of you who have already read them know this and are likely tuning out by now. For the sake of those joining the series at this time I thought I’d give them some insight.
Many of you are probably asking: “Why bother changing the saga name if it’s an ongoing series?” I understand your line of thinking and was originally going to do it like that. But as I wrote the books I realized I had to organize the series in a way readers could easily reference. The Heaven Saga takes place on the Kalaidian warship named the Avoni. Avoni is actually the word of “heaven”, or “above the clouds” in Kalaidian. I chose against using The Avoni Saga because it sounded a bit too much like a certain makeup product. The Freedom Saga takes place on the ship called the Freedom, so it’s self-explanatory. And finally, the place we’re at now is The Grey War Saga. It’s called this because the main plot is the galaxy wide war you’ve been reading about.
All of the first three sagas are three books in length. I’ve placed the seeds of the follow up sagas into the story and will act upon it if enough people read my books. As too the actual length, I’m guessing the later sagas will be four or five books long each. As I said, it all depends on you the reader. I’m sure many of you have questions you’d like to ask of me so I’ll give my contact information. My email address is macidius@yahoo.com. My Twitter account is @sandsofaquarius. I also have an author page and blog on www.goodreads.com. You can message or contact me through any of these avenues if you have any questions or need some clarification. Before ending this short segment I want to say thanks. Thank you for taking time out of your lives to read my books. It’s an honor and privilege knowing someone enjoyed a work of art I labored to create.
