Rosalyn felt tears brimming in her eyes. “I…I didn’t know.”
Derek held her close. “Why won’t you ever let anyone else carry your burdens? You don’t always have to be so strong.”
“I’m not strong.”
Derek tipped her head up. “I don’t know another woman who could have faced what you did tonight the way you did. You’ve been put through hell, yet you never cowered. Please don’t do it now. Have faith in me.”
Rosalyn smiled tearfully. This man—this beautiful, special man—had been what was missing in her life. She had believed that no man could ever love her and want to marry her.
But someone up above was looking out for her, and she would not let the opportunity pass her by.
It seemed fate was not so fickle, after all.
