This book describes how terrorists used similar devices to target British civilians covertly, in the knowledge that their activities would go undetected.

The terrorists could locate me by means of the microchip transmitter they had inserted in the back of my head. Having located me, they could direct their electromagnetic attacks at me. They could make use of clinical devices normally used to save people’s lives, to cause actual bodily harm to their victims. For example, a clinical device designed to keep your heart beating, could also be used to stop the heart, and could be operated by remote control, using wi-fi.

Some remote attacks rely on ‘telemetry’ to find different parts of the body and to obtain feedback on whether they hit the target or caused harm. I also read on Wikipedia that Telemetry is an automated communications process by which measurements and other data are collected at remote or, inaccessible points and transmitted to receiving equipment for monitoring. Even though the term commonly refers to wireless data transfer mechanisms, e.g. using radio, ultrasonic or infrared systems, it also encompasses data transferred over other media such as telephone or computer network, optical link or other wired communications like power line carriers. There are many modern telemetry systems that take advantage of the low cost and ubiquity of GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) networks, by using SMS (Short Messaging Service) to receive and transmit telemetry data.

  See: www.en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telemetry

Terrorists also use infrared sensors to define the outlines of bodies inside houses.

Once the British military came on the scene, they blocked any radio wave attacks that they detected. This meant that the terrorists were restricted to low-level microwave radiation and electromagnetic technologies. If they strayed above the limit, the British military sent an airborne craft that disconnected their electrical equipment from the commercial satellite and burned out their wi-fi routers, using automatic targeting.

  Fantasy and science-fiction reflect reality

Writers and film producers have made use of so-called magical events, where people can do superhuman things, both good and bad. In most of those books, ordinary people carry on living their lives in the background, unaware of what may be happening around them. The Harry Potter movies, the Twilight movies, and science fiction movies like the Matrix series and Avatar are examples. I suspect that there are people who have experienced ultrasound and electromagnetic environments for themselves, and have used that experience to inspire their work.

Recently I went to see the movies Ghostbusters II and ‘Fantastic Beasts and How to Find Them’. When the special effects came on, I felt a surge of recognition, because I’d been there, and had done things like that. I also felt sure that some of the people behind the special effects must have been there too.

You can regard the advanced science events described in this book as fiction. But that does not mean that the events described didn’t happen. It could mean that they happened outside normal human perceptions, using technology enhancements. Remember the last Harry Potter book, when Harry temporarily dies? The environment goes faded and beige, as if a thin transparent curtain was drawn across it. That is how an electromagnetic environment might look if you only have part of the technology to perceive it.

Synthetic telepathy may be used as a form of psychological warfare in which an external technology picks up and matches your private brain waves using what is known as ‘brain entrainment’. The technology can then broadcast voices to your wavelength. It’s a bit like two open-topped sports cars speeding along in parallel, and someone jumping from one into the other. If that happens, you’ve been ‘brain-jacked’. The risks of this happening have already been recognised.

  Examples of possible attacks include altering stimulation settings so that patients with chronic pain are caused to be in even greater pain;

A sophisticated attacker could potentially even induce behavioural changes such as hyper sexuality or pathological gambling.

As regards hostile use of synthetic telepathy, I have heard several reports of the IRA and North American mafia using synthetic telepathy to make victims think they are going mad. There was a time when such ‘symptoms’ were regarded exclusively as an indicator of schizophrenia. Times have changed.

It remains to be established to what extent, if at all, this might reflect the increased use of synthetic telepathy for psychological warfare by terrorists.

  Chapter Notes

  INTRODUCTION

When people are microchipped, wouldn’t they be aware of it? In some cases, yes, but microchips are getting smaller all the time. On 19 November 1999, BBC News Online Editor Dr David Whitehouse reported that scientists had produced the world’s smallest transistor.

Microchipping people is nothing new. The US military are reported to be using micro-chips to enhance the performance of soldiers. According to the Daily Mail, 28 September 2015:

When it comes to eye cameras, the Pentagon has stated that the American military announced they were developing eye camera prostheses to help their soldiers in the field.

  See: www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2187276/U-S-Army-Soldiers-able-to-run-Olympic-speed-wont-need-food-gene-technology.

On the internet, I found that there had been a lot of research on putting cameras in the eyes of insects and animals. I found that a word had been coined to describe living organisms that had been given embedded technologies – ‘cyborgs’.

These developments have had health benefits, for example in helping blind and partially sighted people to see, and strengthening short-term memory in Parkinson’s Disease sufferers. But in the hands of criminals and terrorists, electronic implants in people’s heads have been used to create slaves, with no escape from their masters.
