The Blood and Light Series (Six Books Boxed Set) Page 131

“I mean… I liked the meat, what you brought me. I could taste it.”

He grinned and rubbed his neck.

“Okay… yea, you’re welcome,” he said to me.

He bit his lip and looked at his hands, they were shaking.

I reached for them and held his hand in mine. He looked over at me and looked into my eyes. I could tell that he really was struggling with the fact that he kissed me. I bit my lip and touched his face. He closed his eyes. I should kiss him right? I mean to make this all seem okay.

I leaned forward and felt sick. I leaned over the bed and hurled on the floor.

He jumped up and looked at me. I leaned up and tried to grin.

“Oh god… I will get the doctor,” he said as he ran from my room.

I shook my head and spit on the floor.

I clinched my stomach and wiped the sweat on my forehead.

“So what the hell was that?” I heard to the right of me.

I looked over and there he was again. Hot imaginary boy. I shook my head and spit again.

“Wow… that is gross,” he said as he leaned over my bed and peeked at my mess.

  “Oh shut up,” I muttered.

  He backed up and laughed.

“Well, you shouldn’t kiss that dick,” he said.

I glanced over at him and shook my head.

“Who are you to tell me who I can kiss...? Are we dating and I don’t know about it?” I said.

“Well… if you want to know… yea, I guess we are,” he said as he crossed his arms on his chest.

I laughed and clinched at my stomach, it hurt really badly after hurling. I grinned and stood up, stepping around the crazy on the floor in front of me. I stepped up to him and pointed my finger at him.

“You are not real,” I said as I walked past him to my small bathroom.

I flipped on the light and picked up my toothbrush. I placed it under the automatic dispenser on the wall. I guess crazy people cannot be trusted with a tube of toothpaste. I started to brush my teeth and rolled my eyes when I caught his reflection in my mirror. I turned and continued brushing. I took the toothbrush out of my mouth and mumbled to him.

  “Slohway,” I said.

He grinned and held his hands up to me, obviously not knowing what the hell I just said.

I turned and spit in the sink. I turned back to him.

  “Go away,” I said.

“You don’t mean that,” he said.

I rolled my eyes and spit again. I ran the water and filled my mouth with enough to rinse it out.

I turned back to him and pointed my toothbrush at him.

“Oh but I do… You see, I have come to the conclusion that you are in my head. Yep… right here,” I said as I tapped my temple.

He stepped towards me and shook his head.

“Am not,” he said to me.

I grinned and shook my head as I kept my eyes on him. I started to laugh.

“Listen, I have a chance here… I think… to really get out. I mean Blake is a nice guy for crap sake! He likes me just the way I am. Crazy and all. How nutty, right? But hey… if it means that I get to go out there and be normal, then awesome!” I said.

He stepped up to me so fast I blinked. I don’t know how he did that, or I guess I did it… Oh whatever, I was having a crazy moment, right? He tilted his head and looked at me. He grinned and I looked at his mouth. I started to wave my hand at him.

“No… no… no! I am not falling for that again! No I am not! I don’t care how your mouth looks… and your teeth, your eyes.” I slowed down as he kept moving up to me slowly, with every word I said. “Your lips… and the way your canine teeth are crooked, just a little… The way your shoulders look strong, but they are not too big,” I whispered.

He stepped behind me and placed his hand on my waist.

I tried to keep my breathing slow, but it was hard. He leaned up in my ear and whispered.

  “What else?”

“The way your hair falls in your face, and the way your hand feels on my… oh!” I said as he leaned up against me from behind.

He slowly moved my hair from the back of my neck and leaned down.

  “And?” he whispered.

I took a breath as he kissed my neck and I closed my eyes.

“The way your mouth feels on my skin,” I said.

He turned me around slowly and touched my neck, slowly moving his hand down the front of it and gently tracing my collarbone.

“Do you know what I don’t care about?” he said.

I looked into his eyes, those pretty eyes, lashes so thick it looked like he had make- up on.

  I blinked.

  “What?” I whispered to him.

“I don’t care that your lips are so perfect, and you taste like honey in my mouth.”

  “And?” I asked him.

I wanted to stop, but here I was not doing it. I could just kick myself in the ass.

“And,” he said as he traced his fingers down the front of my shirt and slipped his fingers inside my shirt… just enough to make me dizzy.

“I don’t care that you make me want to lay you down and do terrible things to you… things that I would have to apologize for the next day… or maybe three days later.”

He grinned and I sucked my breath in. I didn’t mean to… but the thought of that had me going. Really, really going… headlong into Crazyville.

“Oh god,” I said as I looked at him.

  “I want you,” he whispered.

He leaned up and grazed my ear with his teeth… his perfectly crooked teeth. I started to shake. I couldn’t help myself. His body was shaking too. Wait, he wasn’t real was he? Screw it; I really… REALLY don’t care. I wanted him too, so badly that I was scared. I was scared that if I kissed him, he will just disappear. I didn’t want him to this time. I wanted to hang onto the moment forever.

He stopped nibbling on my ear and rose up. He started to lean in and stopped.

“You brushed your teeth really good, right?” he said.

I rolled my eyes and sighed.

“You watched me brush my teeth,” I said all disgusted.

“Oh okay… right,” he said as he leaned towards me again.

“Wait… why did you ask me that? I mean if you want me so bad, then you wouldn’t care,” I said.

  “Rue… stop it.”

“No really, why do you always piss me off?” I asked him.

He sighed. “Listen, I just say what I think,” He said.

“You watched me brush them,” I said.

“I know, I know… but you hurled over there… It was kinda gross,” he said.

I stepped back from him and placed my hands on my hips.

  “Well, sorry,” I said.

“Oh my god… really?” he asked me as he rubbed his neck.

“Yea really… You just ruined a perfect moment here.”

“I apologize...! I just can’t stand nasty things in my mouth,” he said all defiant.

  I started to pace again.

“You are not real… you aren’t! I am standing here arguing with myself!” I said.

He stepped towards me with his hands out.

“No… I am here, Rue… right now. Just stop being all ‘Rue’ about it and get on the bed,” he said.

  I laughed at him.

“Get on the bed? Oh, so what? Someone… like Blake can come in here again and catch me humping my bed? No thank you. I am trying to get out of here… not renew my pass,” I said.

“Oh, so you care about what Blake thinks? Please, he is an ass...! Just lie down and let’s do it,” he said to me.

I laughed, well… it was more like an “Ah-hah!” really loud and obnoxious.

I shook my finger at him.

“Just ‘do it’...? You have to be kidding right?” I said.

He pulled his hair and “arrg’d”.

I blinked and looked at him like he was crazy.

“What the hell was that…? Are you a p
irate?” I asked him.

He laughed at me, and I started to laugh too. How freakin’ stupid. I held my stomach and looked up at him. He shook his head at me and grinned as his laughter stared to slow down.

“Okay listen… I am sorry,” he said.

I rolled my eyes. He waited. I straightened up.

  “What?” I said.

“Your turn,” he said. I stared at him.

  “For what?” I said.

“I said it… now you,” he said.

  I tilted my head.

“You want me to say that I am sorry to you?” I asked him.

  “Yes… I do,” he said.

I sighed. Maybe I should. I mean I… wait, what did I do?

I placed my hands back on my hips.

  “I don’t know why,” I said.

  “Fine,” he said.

  “Fine.”

  “Okay then,” he muttered.

  “Uh huh,” I muttered.

He flashed to me and kissed me so hard I almost fell to the floor. I wrapped my hands in his hair and pulled on it so hard he grunted in my mouth. I scrambled to grab at his shirt, and he fumbled with the buttons on mine. We started to sink to the floor. I bit his lip and he moaned.

“Do it, Rue… mess me up,” he whispered.

I giggled as I pushed him on his back and looked at his chest. God his chest, it looked perfect. I leaned down and let my mouth run across his skin. I guessed I should slow down but I just couldn’t. I really, really couldn’t. He was driving me crazy. Ha! Crazy? For all I knew he was not even in there with me, but damn it, it sure felt like he was.

I grazed my teeth on his skin and he sat up quickly as he made a noise that I could listen to for the rest of my life. It made my heart beat harder and my hands sweaty. He grabbed me around the waist as I sat on his lap and he kissed me. He pulled my head back and ran his teeth down the front of my neck and I almost passed out.

I was trembling and my breath was staggered. I started to feel a vibration in a place that I wanted it to be. He continued to kiss me and I moved a little. I shouldn’t have. I threw my head back and cried out, so loud it shocked me. I was shaking and the feeling that came over me caused my knees to lock in place and my whole body to tremble. He sighed and held onto me tightly. I felt all the blood rushing to my head and pushed back from him. I sat there breathing hard and holding my chest.

“Did you just?” he asked me.

I shook my head and continued to look at the floor. I mean, I didn’t just do that, did I?

I mean, wasn’t there supposed to be some sort of naked thing that happens?

“Oh my god… that was so crazy,” I said, still out of breath.

  “Wow,” he said to me.

I looked up at him, my eyes all glossy and my head spinning.

  “That’s it? ‘Wow’?” I said.

“Well,” he said as he cleared his throat. “I mean… we ah, just got started, we didn’t even get to the…”

“Shut up,” I said as I held my hand up to him.

“Okay, I won’t talk,” he said to me.

“I don’t know what happened… I mean, I was sitting on your lap, and ah… you bit me or something.”

“Uh huh,” he said as he grinned and bit his lip.

“I mean…aren’t we supposed to do more or something?”

“Well, ummm,” he said as he held his hand out to me.

I looked at his hand and it started to fade… he started to fade.

I reached out to him and felt him leave me. I dropped my hand and sighed.

“Oh that is just great,” I muttered.

I pushed myself up from the floor and Blake walked in. He looked at me and immediately ran to me, grabbing my arm. I pushed him back. I was drenched in sweat and all shaky. He looked at me as he leaned in my face.

  “You okay?” he asked me.

I nodded and walked to my bed. I sat down and leaned back.

He stepped up to the bed and stared at me.

I so need a shower or something… God.

Josh sat up quickly and opened his mouth, sucking in a deep breath. Johnathan sat there shaking his head at him. Josh looked at him and grinned. Big, big grin.

  “Uh huh,” Johnathan said.

Josh tilted his head down and blew out his breath as he shook his head.

  “Holy shit,” he muttered.

“I totally agree with you this time,” Johnathan said as he leaned back on his hands.

“I mean… you saw that, right?” Josh said.

  Johnathan shook his head yes.

  “Crazy,” he said.

“Yea,” Josh said as he pushed himself up and looked around.

“Okay, so now what...? You just gonna keep going back and making her freak out?” Johnathan said.

“Hell no… I need to get there and then get us both out of there.” Josh said.

Johnathan stood up and brushed his pants off.

“Well, you are never gonna do it that way.”

Josh stared at him and held his hands up.

”She is so into me. What do you mean?” Josh asked him.

“Yea… and you think that now she is not going to do Blake...? Come on!” Johnathan yelled.

“What the hell?” Josh yelled back at him.

“Listen to me, you ass… Blake is there… You just “FADED” away. If you think that she is going to believe that you are the one she wants to be with, you are fooling yourself. You make her feel like she is crazy, dude!”

  “Oh shit,” Josh said.

Johnathan crossed his arms on his chest.

“You need to stop trying to hump her and tell her how you feel… no more biting and dry humping, you ass!”

Josh pulled on his hair and looked around.

“You’re right. I probably just got her all geared up for d-bag,” he said.

Johnathan stepped up to him and held his hand out to him. Josh looked at it and grunted.

  “No... no,” he said.

“Fine… it’s your funeral,” Johnathan said.

Josh pulled his blades from his back and started to walk. Johnathan started to follow him.

“Time to let your feelings out, Josh. She needs that to get out of there.”

“Shut up,” Josh said as he continued to walk.

“You need to embrace the girl in you.”

Josh turned and Johnathan stopped as Josh’s blade was at his throat.

He looked at it and grinned.

“You don’t want to do that,” Johnathan said.

Josh sighed and lowered his blade.

“Just shut up… let me think.”

“Mmmm,” Johnathan said as he covered his mouth up.

  Josh tilted his head.

“You need to be quiet, okay?”

Johnathan shook his head and pointed behind him.

Josh crinkled his eyebrows and turned slowly.

“You are kidding me,” he muttered as he looked at Caine standing there in front of him.

Theodore rolled over and bumped into Jonah. He shook his head and slowly started to crawl out of the bed. Hopefully he could get up and escape this awkward moment. He had been weakened by the worry of Rue and Josh, and exhausted from everyone else around him. The last thing he wanted was the added weight of this. He stood up and started to take a step.

“Oh really?” Jonah said behind him.

Theodore sighed and turned with an awkward grin on his face.

“Hello,” Theodore said as he stood up straight and adjusted his shirt.

“Why are you sneaking out of here, love...? I mean, we live in the same house,” Jonah said as he leaned on his hand.

“Well, it is time to make breakfast,” Theodore said as he looked around for some pants.

“Here,” Jonah said as he tossed Theodore’s pants to him.

Theodore smiled and started to pull them up.

Jonah watched him and Theodore cleared his throat.

“There is no obligation,” Jonah said as he rolled onto his back.

Theodore was relieved and not, all at the same time. He knew he should accept that and be grateful that Jonah didn’t expect it to be anything, but truth was he liked him… probably more than he should.

  “I appreciate that you understand.”

Jonah bit his lip and looked at him.

  “Good.”

  “Great.”

“Yes, I should take a shower,” Jonah said as he sat up and Theodore looked at him.

“Okay… breakfast it is,” Theodore said as he quickly left the room and walked to the kitchen.

Lily sat on the couch petting her rabbit. She peeked up at him and grinned.

“Hello, love,” Theodore said as he walked past her.

She continued to pet her rabbit and hum a strange song… the only one she knew.

Sam came out and stretched her arms. She twisted her head and her neck cracked.

  Lily smiled at her too.

“Good,” Sam said as she stared at her rabbit. “Good to see that you haven’t eaten it yet.”

Lily hugged her rabbit and whispered something in its ear.

  Theodore looked at Sam.

“Where is your better half, love?” he asked her.

  Sam smiled big and yawned.

  “Sleeping in,” she said.

Theodore smiled as he turned back to his cooking.

“Theo… let me go in,” Sam said as leaned on her chair.

“I would never not let you do anything, love. I simply wanted to give them a chance at succeeding on their own.”

Sam rolled her shoulders and stared at him. He didn’t turn to look at her when he said it but she could feel something coming from him…something new.

“Theodore Barrington,” Sam said as she stood up and walked to him.

Theo kept messing with the food on the stove.

  “Yes, Samantha?” Theo said.

Sam turned him to her and looked at his face. He shied away from her.

“You didn’t!” she said to him.

He grinned and waved his hand out.

“I wouldn’t know what you mean.”

Sam placed her hands on his face and made him look at her. She looked at her own hands and felt a vibration in her fingertips. She took her hands off of his face and shook her head as she laughed.

“You have been naughty!” she said.

“Shoooosh,” Theo said as he tried to turn away from her.
