Kingsley pulled the Chevy to the entrance of the alley and jumped out. Marla appeared from the shadows. “Did you get him?” Kingsley asked.

“No, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing him again,” Marla said, getting into the car, a smile on her face.

  Epilogue II

  CIA Headquarters. Sub-Level Three

The man walked to the double doors and placed his hand on the scanner. The red light examined his palm print and the doors slid open. He walked through and turned left, stopping in front of a door marked ‘Assistant Director’ and knocked. A voice from inside, said, “Come in.”

Inside, the room was lit by only a desk lamp, the room’s occupant sat cloaked in shadow behind the desk. The man entered and sat in front of the desk. “Hello, Agent Daly,” the man behind the desk said.

  “Hello, sir,” Kyle said.

“It’s good to have you back with the team,” the man said, leaning forward in the light.

“Thank you, sir,” Kyle replied. “It’s good to be back.”

“I believe you have something for me?” the man asked.

Kyle opened the briefcase in his lap and produced the ancient book. He sat it on the desk in front of the man, who then put his hand on top of it.

“I’ve read your report, very interesting. We’ll have to go over it more thoroughly at a later date. But first, I have a job for you to do. It seems a young upstart named, Yung Jong Sun, is creating quite a stir in South Korea, calling for unification of the two nations. We need you to arrange an ‘accident’ for this revolutionary,” the man said.

  “Yes, sir,” Kyle said happily.

“That’s all for now, report to the travel office for your itinerary.”

Kyle got up and moved toward the door, as he opened it, he turned back to the desk. “Director Fielding?”

  “Yes, Agent Daly?” Fielding replied.

“You’re not planning to start the project up again, are you, sir?”

“Of course not, this book is far too dangerous to be trifled with.”

“I’m glad you see it that way. Good day, sir.”

  “Good day, Agent Daly.”

Kyle left the room with a great feeling that the text would be buried somewhere in a vault and he was back doing the work he loved. Watch out, Yung Jong Sun. Kyle Daly is coming for you.

Immediately after Kyle closed the door, Fielding picked up the phone. “Harris? Fielding here, have those appropriations come through? Good I’ll need them at once.” Fielding hung up and smiled. He picked the text up and placed it in his own briefcase.
