  She nodded.

“None of them matter except for this. With you I’m who I was always meant to be.” He kissed her softly. Lingering to nibble at her lips. Then with a small groan, he flexed his hips.

The friction of his almost-withdrawal sent a spasm through her. She matched his rhythm, taking him in again and again, until the tension wound so tight she lost control and jerked against him. Deep, rich colors exploded behind her eyes. She grasped his shoulders and locked her ankles behind his back. The tide peaked, then slowly receded.

She squeezed, contracting her muscles around him. He buried himself deep and shudders wracked his body. The aftershocks echoed through her.

They remained joined, skin-to-skin, hearts beating in tandem for a drawn out moment that reached to forever and back. Eventually Dan shifted and turned away briefly, then gathered her to his side.

Kelly curled against him, her breath still battered, but a peaceful lassitude created a lethargic calm. She stroked her palm down his chest, over his ribs, to his hip and back up again. Not in a sensual way, but rather to enjoy the texture of heated skin over firm muscle.

“Would you believe me if I told you I’m in love with you?” The soft words broke the silence.

Her hand faltered on its way back down, then resumed the smooth movement. Her heart tripped in her chest, while her breath caught. “Yes.”

  “Well that was easy.”

She pushed up on an elbow. “If you just wanted to get me in bed you would have said that before, not after.” She traced the ridged line of his collarbone. “Have you ever said those three little words to get someone in bed?”

He tilted her chin up with his finger. “I’ve never said those words to anyone. Well, maybe to my mom when I was four or five.”

Part of her heart thrilled. Another part ached for him. She couldn’t imagine growing up in a family where love wasn’t expressed. She vowed to never leave him in doubt about her feelings.

“I love you, too, Dan Jenkins. Every single part of who you are.”
