As my gaze roved over them all, it was easy to tell how unflinchingly loyal they were to each other, how the bonds of friendship had formed the bonds of a family. They were imposing as a group. Some might even observe that they had a look of danger to them. No matter who they were or had been, I only knew them as I saw them. Brothers to the man I loved.

“Picture time!” my mother yelled as she pointed. “Everyone over there.”

We all lined up against Cade’s wall, smiling, happy, with lives that meant something to each other.

Aiden stepped out and asked, “The limos are outside, anyone need anything before we head to the church?”

Everyone gathered their things and got ready to leave.

Brock was the only one that hung back, frantically checking his pockets.

Cade frowned at him, “What’s up?”

  “The rings.”

“What about the rings?” Cade growled.

“I think I left them back at the house. Shit, man, I thought I grabbed them.”

Cade shook his head as Holden started prowling toward Brock. “What the fuck?”

Brock smiled and pulled a box out of his pocket. “Just kidding.”

Holden glanced at Aiden, and steered Julia through the door. Logan followed with Kate, chuckling.

“Brock, you’re really pushing it,” Aiden growled, pulling Liv toward the door.

Brock laughed and took Andi’s hand as they made their way in the same direction. “What? That was funny.”

Cade took my hand and started laughing. “Welcome to the rest of your life, sunshine.”

I smiled up at him and couldn’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be.

  The End

  Author’s Note

  Are you a Lakefield woman?

When I first began thinking about Lakefield, it didn’t happen in some romantic setting. I was honestly sitting on my couch, looking at art supplies on my desk. I was in the middle of two drawings and needed to finish them. Writing was the last thing on my mind.

Then a thought formed about five alpha friends. Who were they? Why were they friends?

The idea of those men didn’t leave me alone for days. So, I sat down and started defining what I wanted to write about them. In the end, all five men had a history and a story to tell.

Then the Lakefield women started to become clearer to me, and I knew my alphas were in trouble. They were going to carry the series to the end and tell us what they had to say.

I’ve thought carefully about each of the issues I’ve brought up in the books. Body image problems, abuse, panic attacks, alcoholism, abandonment, and self-esteem issues, etc. I’ve treated each of them carefully and respectfully, while telling a romantic story about each couple.

As I wrote, I laughed, cried, and got angry in some of the scenes. Drawing from some of my own experiences, it wasn’t easy putting any of them into some situations.

We all know at least one of the Lakefield women, or you might be one yourself. They sit beside us at work, they live down the street, and in some cases they’re our closest friends. These five books were for them, and I hope they find their Happily Ever After.
