False Start: A Quick Snap Novella

“I love this.” He tips his face to mine. “I hope you know that once I take you, I don’t think I can ever let you go.”
“Don’t ever let me go, not ever.” I barely get this out when his tongue circles my clit, and he’s not stopping. With his long arms and my small body, his free hand begins to stroke my nipples.
“These tits, dammit, Leela, I’ll never stop worshipping this body.” We’re still in the middle of his room, and with his offensive attack on my clit and each swipe of his tongue, he pushes me further and further to the point of ecstasy.
“Fuck, baby, I’m about to come. I’m so close.” I can’t contain it, long mewls and moans filling his room.
He pulls back, but his finger strokes my sensitivity as my orgasm rolls through me. If this had simply been his tongue, I can’t wait until his cock fills me up.
He stands, holding me, because after that orgasm, I’m almost spent but not enough. I need him inside me. As though he can sense how tired I’ve instantly become, he lifts me over his shoulder, and I have a wonderful view of his fine and firm ass.
I begin to laugh as he tosses me on the bed. He stalks over to me, crawling over my body. “Kieran, please, I need you inside me. I need you so much.” He leans over and grabs a condom, ripping it open with his teeth.
His body is over mine, and he sits, staring at me. “I want to memorize this moment. I’ll never forget it.”
Our connection isn’t severed when he enters me. “Oh, you’re so tight, sweetheart. Ah fuck, you are amazing. This is amazing.” His pace speeds up, pushing in farther and faster. My arms wrap around his back, pushing him deeper inside me, needing the friction of him and me together. At every thrust, I’m able to feel more of him. Every couple of seconds, he places a kiss on my cheek or my lips or my nose. “This. Is. All. I’ve. Ever. Wanted.”
“I’m going to come again, baby!” I almost shout.
“I’m with you, sweetheart. I’m so close.” We both cry out our release, and he doesn’t move, still leaning over me. His stare is so intense, I think he’s staring into my soul. “Leela, sweetheart, I don’t want to scare you…”
“You can’t scare me, Kieran. Just say it, just tell me.”
He caresses my face with the back of his hand. “I love you, Leela. I’ve loved you for a long time, and I was the dumb son of a bitch who let you go. Please tell me you’re mine?”
“I’m yours, Kieran O’Hennessey. I’m yours. And I’ll always be yours. My heart is in your hands.”
He places another kiss on my nose. “And I’ll always treasure it.”
He collapses next to me, pulling me in close to his strong body. It’s then I realize my heart will forever belong to him.
Epilogue
Leela
Five years later
I sit on the edge of our bed in our downtown Seattle penthouse. I’m looking over my many lists that I create when packing for a trip. Hell, I never knew two little people needed so much stuff.
It had taken Connie Weston an entire year to break the story of Kier’s identity. Not that we made it too hard for her by then. At that point, Seattle fans had come around and trusted that my man had changed.
It didn’t take him long to put a ring on my finger or knock me up, either. And when one of the huge morning shows approached me for an anchor position, it was no longer my dream. One day, I could see me waking up with all of America, but for now, being a wife, a mother, and the face of my news station was good enough for me.
Since Connie exposed Kier as the Clown Man of Bullying (she named him and it stuck, though it’s not catchy and, in my opinion, stupid as fuck) we’ve been touring schools around the nation between seasons, speaking out on bully prevention.
We now do it with our three-year-old and six-month-old daughters. I also work from home during the summer in our farmhouse in Portland, Oregon. We built our dream home on the land where Kier took me for our re-make dance.
“Mommy,” Luciana calls for me, running into our bedroom, “Daddy say we eat ice cream.”
She’s standing in front of me. “Oh, did he now?” I ask. Her bright blue eyes are like her daddy’s, and she’s a redhead like Kier’s mom, though she’s named after my mother.
Kieran strolls in with Siobhan on his hip. With such an Irish name we chose in honor of his mother, she looks more like my side of the family. Of course, at the time, we didn’t realize everyone would call her Sio-bahn instead of Sha-vahn.
“Let me clarify, Luciana Simone O’Hennessey.” Kier hands me Siobhan and picks up Luciana as he begins to tickle her. “I said we’d discuss ice cream after dinner as long as you ate all your food.” He turns to me. “Is this more acceptable, Mrs. O’Hennessey?”
I stand with little Siobhan as she attempts to reach for her daddy. She’s a daddy’s girl, and my little nickname for her is traitor. With Luciana in his left hand, he grabs his little traitor with his right arm.
Our life isn’t perfect. We fight. We piss each other off from time to time. Our kids make messes, and they throw colossal tantrums. But after fighting so hard for what we have, it’s worth everything because this is the perfect life for me.

What I have learned along the way
When I decided to write this story, I wanted to pick a position of a football player I’ve not written previously. And because my husband helps me with football terms and such, we first decided on a tight end. But through the title process and the way I’d incorporate it into the story, we changed him to a running back. And then of course, I wanted to make a correlation between his position with all his false start penalties with his past concerning Leela. Thanks to the many years I’ve sat with my hubby watching Sunday football, I feel I know a lot about the game. However, I needed specific ways to pen Kier as a running back.
I tend to do a majority of my writing late at night, due to the many littles that call me mom. And I found myself writing about false starts, at two a.m. in the morning. It’s funny how many things I truly research at that late hour.
Again, I hope you loved Kier and Leela’s story.
Until the next book,
Leigh
