Kyle had never seen Tyler as family having only known him for a few years, it annoyed him that his parents referred to them as brothers because Kyle’s feelings were nothing like that. Kyle craved Tyler in many ways but brotherly love wasn’t one of them and he made that clear the night before.

Upon finding Tyler receiving a blow job from another guy Kyle flung into a fit of rage.

“Why not me?!” He wanted to know.

It was at that moment that Tyler looked at the younger man in a different light. He just wanted to experiment but how could he resist Kyle’s cute face, his long, brown hair and his slender frame? That’s when everything happened.

Kyle made his way over countless bodies, heading towards the kitchen where the staff were working overtime to prepare meals for everybody on the premises as was their jobs to do so.

Kyle was handed his orange juice with a smile, he put on his glasses and he sat by the pool in his usual seat which had somehow escaped occupation. He opened his book, sat back and ignored reality. In his blissful ignorance he’d almost entirely forgotten about what happened the night before, reasoning with himself that the experience was so surreal that it must’ve been a dream.

“Morning,” a chair was pulled up next to Kyle and Joel sat on it.

  “You’re still here?” Kyle asked.

“Well, I thought I’d stick around in case you started to feel better,” Joel smiled.

Kyle could tell he was a nice, genuine guy but Kyle had completely forgotten about him almost instantly after he’d left his bedroom. He knew that if he was smart he’d take the model and run a million miles with him but his thoughts were elsewhere.

  “Sorry,” Kyle muttered.

“Yeah, I get it,” Joel said.

“I took a chance,” he smiled at Kyle before getting up from the chair and holding out his hand.

  “Friends?”

Kyle nodded, shaking Joel’s hand and showing him out before returning to his seat in the back garden.

“Bloody Mary!” That was the unmistakable sound of a very hung-over Tyler.

Tyler wandered into the back garden in nothing but his boxers, his abs sweating as his body released the alcohol, his blonde hair stuck to his forehead and his bulge as big as ever pressed up against their cage.

He looked over at Kyle, staring at him, and then looked back at all the guests inside the house. He shut the doors before walking down to Kyle and sitting on the chair next to him.

  “So,” he said bluntly.

Kyle kept his head buried in his book, refusing to make eye contact.

  “So…”

“You enjoy your party?” Tyler had a weird tone, somewhere between angry and calm.

“Yeah,” Kyle was quiet, mostly from nerves as his heart went crazy, banging against his ribs so loud he thought he’d wake the entire house.

“Did you…” He poked his head over the book he held in front of his face.

Tyler sighed; he scratched his head and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

  “It was different,” he stated.

“Some things happened, unexpected things, things we don’t need to discuss.”

“Okay…” Kyle didn’t really have a comeback, if Tyler felt that he didn’t want to take things further then he couldn’t do anything about that.

“Okay then,” Tyler got up and began to walk off but Kyle felt something bubbling inside of him until a question popped out.

“Did you enjoy it?” He called out and Tyler turned around instantly making a hushing-sign with his finger.

“Did you enjoy it?” Kyle repeated quieter as Tyler got closer.

“What’s that got to do with it?”

“Well, I enjoyed it…” Kyle said softly.

Tyler looked at Kyle, for the first time he noticed his smooth skin, his plump, pink lips and his slender frame. He noticed his forest-green eyes glowing under the sunlight, his bottom lip trembling with nerves, he felt like he was really seeing Kyle for the first time and that made all the tension he felt vanish.

He sighed, sitting back and leaning over.

“I did,” he said as if admitting defeat.

Kyle smiled slightly but tried not to look too smug.

“But it’s a bit weird, we’re sorta family.”

“I know but,” Kyle had fought with himself over this for a long time.

“We’re not really related, I mean, we’ve known each other for about five years…”

  “Have you always wanted to?”

Kyle nodded, the thought of it was already making him hard and Tyler noticed the slight twitching in his step-brother’s shorts.

  “I never knew,” he said.

“Well I never knew you were getting blowjobs from guys,” Kyle replied.

“Just one, well two technically, John wasn’t very good though.”

“Was i?” Kyle looked into Tyler’s eyes; he needed to know desperately what was going on between them now.

“Yeah,” Tyler said, again as if he was admitting defeat at something.

“But, this is still a bit weird for me,” he added.

“Okay,” Kyle said backing off a bit.

  “I just…”

  “You just?”

“I hope you don’t treat me differently.”

Tyler looked at Kyle, he could see his visible nerves, his worries, everything going on in his head was written clearly on his face. He didn’t like seeing that pain, he didn’t want to be the reason Kyle was in pain, he thought of all the ways he could make it stop until finally he found himself leaning in, running a hand across Kyle’s face as his green eyes watered slightly.

  “Shh,” he muttered to Kyle.

“Things might change a bit,” he added.

Kyle met his gaze, their lips moments away from one another.

“Are you going to leave?” Kyle feared that because of their limitless bank accounts Tyler might just vanish.

“No, not at all,” Tyler used his thumb to wipe the single tear falling down Kyle’s cheek.

“I’m here with you, me and you, like we said.”

“Except we’re not bros,” Kyle laughed slightly but he meant what he was saying.

“I guess not,” Tyler smiled before leaning in, he didn’t know if he was doing the right thing but he knew that his kiss might stop Kyle from crying and that’s all he wanted in that moment.

Kyle’s stomach twisted and turned, he felt like he was being pulled in every direction possible, like fireworks exploded in his chest and like everyone else dropped off the face of the earth. He lost his breath, his lungs struggling, his mouth wobbling and his entire body frozen in the moment. He opened his eyes as Tyler pulled away from their short embrace, looking into his blue eyes he saw a spark that told him Tyler had felt the same thing run through his body too.

Tyler was shocked, he’d never felt a connection like that whilst kissing someone, he’d never even felt the need to kiss before if it wasn’t leading to the bedroom but something about Kyle clicked in his mind. Something that told him this was what he’d been missing.

The pair sat silently together, staring at one another quietly until they heard the doors to the garden open and Tyler shot up and jumped in the pool out of nerves.

“Refreshing!” He yelled loudly as he popped his head back up.

  “Nothing like a morning swim.”

Kyle sat there in shock for a moment before bursting out into a fit of laughter. The guests at the door looked confused, they said their goodbyes and slowly the house became a large, empty canvas for the young men to do whatever they wanted again. The staff had everything polished, vacuumed and washed before it’d even turned noon and whilst Tyler took to bed for a nap Kyle stayed by the pool the entire time. He thought about what could happen next between the two, knowing that he needed to give Tyler space but also that something was definitely going to happen again.

  ***

“Is this safe?” Tyler asked as he glared at it, gulping heavily, he’d
never done anything like this before.

“Please, just do it!” Kyle begged.

“I’m not used to such small spaces,” Tyler protested but Kyle wasn’t having any of it.

“Oh come on,” Kyle reached out and grabbed Tyler, pulling him forwards.

The two entered the ‘haunted house’ together at the theme park, Tyler had never been to one before and already felt nauseous from the ‘home-made’ rollercoaster Kyle had forced him on.

The pair had decided to get away together although they were hesitant to call it a date. It was Tyler’s idea to go somewhere nobody knew their names and thankfully their parent’s influence and wealth only stretched a few states. They’d booked a luxurious, five-star hotel at a sea-side resort surrounded by a theme park, Water Park on other fun things. Tyler had never stepped foot outside of his silver-spoon life, he’d spent his entire youth with other well-off people, going to boring theatre production where he’d run off with his friends and get drunk and talk about each other’s family’s and sports. Kyle was a lot more grounded, he’d often go on trips with his mother before she’d met Tyler’s father and he’d insist on doing “normal” things which meant fast-food and theme parks, of course he’d have a nanny as his guide because his mother was always on business but he’d still enjoy himself. He was ever-so-grateful Tyler had decided to step outside of his comfort zone for him.

Kyle soon found himself retreating behind Tyler as things jumped out and scared him, he’d scream and then laugh at himself screaming whilst Tyler retained his brave-face at all times. They both navigated a dark hallway on the second floor before hitting a dead end, as they turned around a man in a long, black robe stood at the other end. The lights switched on just for an instant so that they could see him, then began to flicker making him look like he was moving robotically, getting closer and closer to the pair.

Kyle backed away into the corner, a mixture of laughter and moans.

“No, no, okay I’m done,” he said.

The man continued coming forwards; he raised his hand revealing a silver, sharp object.

“No, seriously,” the laugher subsided from Kyle’s voice.

“I’m done, I’m really done, I want out,” he insisted but the man in the robe didn’t say a word, he just kept coming towards the two getting faster and faster.

Tyler turned back and looked at Kyle, seeing his distress.

  “Hey man,” Tyler yelled.

“He said he’s done, we’ve been in here for like ten minutes, we want out.”

Just as the man got close enough to touch Tyler clenched his fist and threw it forwards, a thud echoed and a few seconds later the lights turned on. A man lay in agony on the floor, clutching his nose as his plastic knife folded in half beside him.

  “Ouch!” He yelled.

  Tyler shrugged.

“He said he was done,” he stepped over the man, reaching for Kyle’s hand and helping him climb over too.

  “Is he alright?” Kyle asked.

“He’ll be fine,” Tyler replied as the pair made their way out.

The pair headed over to a burger stand, grabbing a wooden table outside in the glorious weather and basking in the sun. They stared and laughed at each other, Tyler already retelling the story of how he’d floored the guy in the costume despite Kyle witnessing it moments ago.

“I can’t believe you hit him!” Kyle felt bad but he couldn’t help giggling as he bit into his burger.

“You said you’d had enough,” Tyler replied, reaching over and stealing some of Kyle’s fries despite having a plate of his own.

Kyle playfully knocked Tyler’s hand away and Tyler smiled.

  “Hey,” Kyle grunted.

“You want to end up like him?”

“Oh, tough guy now?” Tyler laughed.

  “Reckon you could take me?”

“I know I can,” Kyle smirked; he felt completely at ease around Tyler and had done since they began their trip together.

There was chemistry between them, they’d bonded like family but there was the sexual tension of lovers who hadn’t done the deed. It was intense but comfortable, leaving moments where they’d linger in their gaze and imagine what taking the next step would be like. They’d both get hard, both get restless but both felt uncertain about what to do. Once they made that move, there was no going back.

“So what’s next man?” Tyler asked as he shook of his growing arousal to Kyle who sat smiling at him.

“Let’s see…” Kyle pulled out a list he’d made in their hotel.

“Oh you don’t need that,” Tyler reached over to knock the list away but Kyle retracted it in time and laughed.

  “No, no,” he said giggling.

“We’re doing the list,” he insisted.

“And where on that list does it involve some alone time,” Tyler smirked, the words just came out but once he’d said them he knew he couldn’t take them back.

“Tyler…” Kyle went quiet for a moment, at that moment the howling of two women could be heard from the next table over.

“Excuse me, excuse me,” one of them said.

“Yeah?” Tyler looked at the blonde woman with a charming smile; Kyle noticed that smile instantly and began to feel jealously brewing inside of him.

“Are you by any chance Tyler Maxwell?” She asked.

“Yes, I am,” Tyler replied smirking.

The girls giggled, they both invited themselves over to the table. One sat next to Tyler whilst the other sat next to Kyle, both of them fixated on the young, blonde man and his glowing smile.

“You must be Kyle then?” The brunette asked and Kyle nodded.

“Wow, you both look so much better than your pictures.”

“Pictures?” Kyle was a little confused.

“Oh sorry, I’m Zoe and this is Claire, we’re daughters to the Grayson’s, as in Grayson whisky, your parents know our parents.”

“Great,” Kyle huffed, his entire weekend crumbling before him.

“What are you guys doing over here?”

“Just taking a little vacation,” Tyler replied.

  “Yourselves?”

“Yeah well, it’s not exactly our scene but we wanted some sun so…”

“Right, right,” Tyler muttered as he looked to Kyle who was less than impressed.

“So, I know you don’t know us but do you guys wanna hang, be nice to have some decent people to talk to.”

“Maybe, we were just deciding what to do next,” Tyler replied.

“Oh, well there’s a cool thing going on at the water park soon, my dad owns like two-thirds of the property so I can probably get us past all the queues.”

“Wait, you’re not here with dates are you?” The brunette one chimed in causing an awkward silence.

“Nope,” Tyler laughed as he looked at Kyle.

  “Just us.”

At that point Kyle shot up, he got sick of playing the same game over and over but when it worked, it worked. He grabbed his stomach and moaned in pain.

“Oh man, I don’t think this kind of food agrees with me, you know what these places are like,” he pulled out his silver-spoon attitude.

“Oh yeah, that’s too bad,” one of the girls said.

“Are you still free though?” The other asked Tyler.

“Yeah, sure,” Tyler said as he looked at Kyle and tried to mime the words ‘are-you-okay’ but Kyle wasn’t looking at him.

“I’ll see you back at the hotel or something,” Kyle grunted before storming off, waiting until he’d gotten a few meters into the distance before letting go of his stomach.

Kyle was furious, not with Tyler but with himself. He’d let himself believe that whatever was going on between them was more than it was. He knew he might have jumped-the-gun and that perhaps Tyler was just being polite but seeing him smile at the women reminded Kyle those women were always a big part of who Tyler was and that they probably always would be. He couldn’t expect him to change overnight, to give that
up, to be his and only his and not to mention all the hurdles they’d face together. For some reason all of that crashed down on him the minute those girls sat at their table and now all he wanted to do was buried his head in the five-star sheets.

  ***

It was eleven o’clock when Kyle woke up from his nap. The blistering heat caused him to dose off on their large, queen-sized bed in their penthouse suite overlooking the ocean. He opened the balcony and stepped out into the starlight, wondering where Tyler was, what he was doing, who he was doing…

He didn’t know what he was expecting from their vacation or whether he had a right to feel hurt. He didn’t even know what had happened or what was happening because he’d come to his own conclusion so fast and jolted before speaking with Tyler. He felt silly, he’d never been so unreasonable before, he was usually the calm and logical one of the two but his feelings had him acting in ways he never thought he would and he didn’t know how to navigate them.

He heard the card swipe and then the door opened, he turned around and saw Tyler walk into the room, the pair met midway with the bed separating them.

“How was your day?” Kyle asked coldly.

“Fine, are you okay?” Tyler responded.

  “I’m fine.”

It went quiet for a moment; Tyler threw his keys and wallet down on the coffee table and sat at the edge of the bed.

“Nothing happened,” he muttered and Kyle sat beside him.

“Tyler, it’s okay,” Kyle said quietly as he stared at his floor.

“No, it’s not okay Kyle,” Tyler turned to face Kyle, reaching out and pulling his chin up so that they stared at one another.

“When I saw that blonde one, I thought about fucking her, you know I did, I know I did…”

  “Yeah…”

  “But I didn’t do it, I mean, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to.”

“Well why didn’t you then?” His words weren’t making Kyle feel any better.

“Because of you, because I thought about you here on your own, I thought about that look you get when you’re hurt…” Tyler saw that same look on Kyle’s face as he spoke to him and felt his insides tear up a little knowing he’d caused it.
