Page 17

by Keith Widdowson

Thus began a forty-five-year career within various train planning departments throughout BR, the bulk of which was at Waterloo but also included locations at Cannon Street, Wimbledon, Crewe, Euston, Blackfriars, Paddington and finally Croydon – specialising in dealing with train crew arrangements. After spending several years during the ’70s and ’80s in Cheshire, London and Sittingbourne, he returned to his roots in 1985 where he finally met the steading influence in his life, Joan, with whom he had a daughter, Victoria. In addition to membership of the local residents’ association (St Paul’s Cray), the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway and the U3A organisation, he keeps busy writing articles for railway magazines and gardening.
