Waves of Love

Rachel was confidently standing on the ship, a gorgeous and mysterious woman beside her, two more of the same kind with them, and below, below them in the water, the group multiplied. One by one, dozens and dozens of mermaids started to come out of the surface. They showed their bright hairs of all the colors of the rainbow, their mythical beauty and then they started to sing. Softly and quietly at first, mere murmurs. But it had been enough to stop the two smaller ships, one of them even turned around, but Charles demanded his ship to move forward. As the singing of the mermaids grew, Charles’ ship slowed down, the small ship remaining turned back around. Charles was close enough for Rachel to notice when he was stiff and terrified, and when he opened his mouth to shout instructions that went disregarded.
To further prove her point, her strength, her power and her rightful ownership of the ship and the sea, Rachel walked up and stood on the very bow of the ship, staring at the unworthy man as if she could destroy him with just one look. Effectively, commanded by her, every mermaid started to sing louder and more earnestly than they had ever sung before. The effect was immediate. Charles seemed to visibly struggle against the desires of his body, he shouted orders, but his crew betrayed them and instead of moving forward they pulled the ship back. Charles’ body was shaking with his rage and the mermaids’ powerful spell filling him up and fighting inside him. Eventually, the only outcome possible came true. Charles threw himself to the water.
Rachel wouldn’t know what happened to him afterwards. She didn’t see it. She didn’t care anymore. As he fell, she turned around and gently took her girlfriend’s hand, they had places to go and an infinite number of things to learn and love about each other. The sea was theirs now, and the waves of their love would make them legendary.
