Knight Treasures

“Of this, I’m certain our king would agree,” Nathan added from the corner.

Darrick ignored his friend and pressed on. “Sabine, would you be my Lady of Lockwood?”

  “Forever and always!”

He drew her close and winced when the wound on his thigh rebelled. “What do you have there, sweetheart?” He plucked at the hidden pocket in her gown. “More secrets?”

“Hmmm? Oh, that,” she mumbled against his lips. “’Tis Father’s notes regarding the treasure. Can we talk about this later? I do not believe it is going anywhere.”

Pulling the leather journal out of Sabine’s pocket, he laid it aside. “Yes. It will keep. I have all the treasure I want in my arms.”

Nathan leaned over them and picked up the journal. “Perhaps this will sweeten your request from the king.”
