I could hear him pick up after a few rings. My super hearing picked up his tinny voice crackling through the phone speaker. “You change your mind?”

  “No,” Mika said.

“Are you sure? It’s not too late.”

“I’m positive. Let me speak to him.”

“What am I, your personal secretary?”

“I’ve got the stone. Put him on the phone.”

  “Hang on a minute.”

After a long pause, Titus came to the phone. “I hear you have something for me?”

“I’ll give it to you on one condition. You leave the Academy alone. From here on out, that is sacred ground for supers.”

“You expect me to allow you to continue to develop an army to bring against me someday?”

“There’s nobody left to pose a threat to you. Besides, if you have the stone, what do you have to fear from other supers?”

  Titus pondered this.

“The deal is not up for negotiation. If you don’t like it, I’ll leave Vega Station and take the stone with me and put it somewhere you will never find it.”

“I always knew you were feisty, but I never imagined you’d have such balls.” He paused. “You sure I can’t tempt you to join us?”

“Call me sentimental. I can’t leave what’s left of the Academy.”

“I never knew you were such a softy.”

  There was another long pause.

“You have my word,” Titus said. “But if any of your supers stand against me, or interfere with any of my activities, I will show them no mercy.”

“Meet me at Trinity Park in Upper-Vega,” Mika said.

“Why don’t you just bring it to me?”

“I’m not setting foot on your turf.”

“So be it. I can be there in half an hour. And Mika, don’t try anything stupid.”

Mika disconnected the call and slid the phone in her pocket. “Let’s hope he took the bait.”

It didn’t take long for Titus to emerge from his compound with Scar, MegaStrike, SuperFrost and Pulse. They sprang into the air and flew away.

“Shit, Cerise isn’t with him,” Mika grumbled.

“I’ll go it alone. Ranger, follow them. Contact us the moment they head back this way. If we're lucky, I’ve got 45 minutes to an hour to get in and get out.”

“I’m on it.” Ranger launched into the air.

“What are we supposed to do?” Zepha asked.

“Find a way to save my ass if I get into trouble.”

“You better take care of that ass,” Chrome said.

“I got this. Piece of cake.” I focused my energy and transformed my appearance to match Titus. “How do I look?”

“Like an ass hole,” Zepha said.

  “So, it’s working?”

She chuckled lightly. “Yes.” Her face grew solemn. “Good luck. Bring her back.”

  “I will.”

Mika smacked my ass as I walked away.

I strolled across the street and marched up the steps to the vault-like door. I placed my hand on the biometric scanner. The heavy slab of metal unlocked. A rush of cool air wafted from the structure as the door opened. This place was practically airtight.

Before I had taken a step inside, one of Titus’s minions accosted me. “What’s wrong, sir?”

“Nothing,” I stammered. “I decided they can handle it on their own. I thought it wise to stay here in case it is some type of trap. Stay on guard for anything suspicious.”

  “Yes, sir.”

I pulled up his stat screen.

  [Nickname: Clinic.]

  [Power: Regenerative Healing.]

“The girl… where is she?” I asked.

“She’s where you left her, sir?”

  “She hasn’t been moved?”

“No, she’s still in the detention chamber. I don’t think she can escape, if that’s what you’re worried about?”

  “We can’t be too careful.”

There was an awkward moment between us. I still didn’t know where the hell Surge was, and I wasn’t sure if this guy was getting suspicious of me. I also didn’t know how long I could maintain Titus’s form. Most superpowers weren’t inexhaustible. A rest and recharge period was usually necessary.

If you don’t think she’s going to be secure in the compartment on Level 10, I can move her to the basement,” Clinic stammered. “The magno-chamber might be more effective against her particular skill set.”

“That won’t be necessary. I think she’s fine where she is.” I thanked him and strolled down the hallway to the elevator.

I pressed the call button and waited for the lift to arrive. I stepped inside and it whisked me up to the 10th floor. I stepped into the hallway and scanned the corridor, looking for the detention chamber. The long steel passageway was filled with multiple doors that looked like hatches on a spaceship. None of them were labeled.

I marched down the hallway, listening outside each door, hoping my super hearing would detect Surge. X-ray vision would really have come in handy here. But that wasn’t in my bag of tricks.

I was about to lean my ear to one of the doors, when it slid open. Cerise startled me as she stood in the doorway. Her quizzical eyes surveyed me with confusion, and her face crinkled. “I thought you were going to get the tri-stone? Or was that all bullshit?”

“I’m letting the others handle it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they come back empty-handed. There’s something fishy about the whole thing.”

“For once you actually listened to me. Think of how much farther along you’d be if you’d done so sooner.”

“What can I say? I’m stubborn.”

She grabbed my shirt and pulled me into her. She planted a fat kiss on my lips. “Now that you’ve got a little time, maybe you can express your gratitude.”

  “Uh,” I stammered.

She put her finger to my lips. “No excuses. It’s about time you paid me a little attention.”

She grabbed my package, and it stiffened in her hand. She arched an eyebrow, impressed. “Good to know I can still do it for you. I was beginning to think you were losing interest.”

“Um,” I cleared my throat. “Why would you think that?”

“We haven’t… you know… in a long time.”

“You know how busy I’ve been.”

She put her fingers to my lips again. “Stop talking. It’s not your strong suit.”

Her sultry green eyes stared at me for a moment, then she dropped to her knees and pulled my pants down. My soldier stood at attention.

She whispered, “I know you’re not Titus. He’s not nearly this big.”

I transformed into my normal appearance.

“I can also read minds, fool. I knew who you were the moment I saw you.”

I thought I was busted, but her slick lips engulfed me. Her mouth radiated with heat. Her hand stroked me with fervent desire. It was unusually warm.

I looked down at her shimmering red hair, and her big green eyes looked up at me while her lips and tongue continued to work their magic. I pulled up her stat screen.

  [Nickname: Cerise.]

[Power: Fire Manipulation, Strength, Energy Manipulation, Undisclosed.]

  [Level: Undisclosed.]

  [Special Skill: Omni.]

No wonder her hands were warm to the touch.

She pulled her mouth away, and a glistening trail of saliva clung to her lips. She stood up, spun around and sauntered toward the bed. Her fingers pulled the zipper down behind her back, exposing her supple skin. She slinked the garment off her shoulders. She pulled it down and wiggled it over her hips. The fabric pooled on the floor at her ankles. She stepped out of the tight outfit and glanced back at me over her shoulder.

  Her gaze smoldered.

My eyes traced the shapely curves of her body. Her ass was insane. Her peach hung between her cheeks, barely visible. My stare fixed on the perfect gap between her thighs.

She climbed onto the bed like a panther. Sh
e rolled onto her back and spread her creamy legs. Her finger curled toward me, commanding me to get up close and personal with her glistening pink core.

I climbed onto the bed and dove in between her legs. My tongue started to work its magic on her thighs. I worked my way up, circling around her delightful center. Her legs quivered, and she finally grew weary of my teasing. She grabbed my head and placed my lips exactly where she wanted them. My tongue danced, and I sucked her, lapping up her sweet juices.

She moaned and rocked her hips. With a fistful of my hair, she kept my head on target. I flicked and sucked until my jaw was sore, and my tongue was about to go numb. Her thighs tightened and she screamed with ecstasy. Waves of pleasure gushed onto my tongue. She bucked and writhed in orgasmic pulses.

She relaxed, and she pulled me up her shimmering body. Her lips wrapped around mine, and her velvety tongue probed my mouth. Then she rolled me over and straddled me. She reached her hand behind her ass and grabbed my shaft, lining it up with her wetness.

She let out a soft moan as she slid her peach over my shaft and took me inside. She clenched tight and slid down to the base.

She mashed her breasts into my face, and I took her nipple in my mouth. She rocked her hips back and forth, sliding up and down, taking long strokes. “So, you came here to rescue the girl?”

  “Something like that.”

“Do you think you’ll be successful?” she cooed in my ear in between moans of passion.

“I have no doubt,” I said.

  “Cocky, aren’t you?”

“When you’ve got it, you’ve got it,” I said, feigning modesty.

“I like cocky.” Her breathy, velvety voice stoked my flames.

Her slow strokes increased in frequency and intensity. Her chest heaved for breath as she slammed her hips against mine. She was tight and wet and warm. Her screams of pleasure grew louder, and I was concerned they’d draw unwanted attention. The last thing I needed was Titus walking into his bedroom and seeing me banging his main squeeze. Plus, I was running out of time.

Cerise clenched down, and I exploded inside of her. Her warm juices flowed over me as she gushed. Her pelvis spasmed, and she fell on top of me, quivering as multiple orgasms quaked her body. Her slick skin slid against mine. She continued rocking her hips, milking every last drop.

She pushed up and stared into my eyes. Cerise had a dazed satisfied twinkle in her eyes. She ran her hand through her tousled hair. “What was your plan for getting out of here? Did you think you were just going to take your girl and walk through the front door?”

“Yeah, maybe. I hadn’t really thought it out.”

“No shit,” she said in a sardonic tone.

I had already dropped my payload, and my rocket needed a recharge cycle. But Cerise had other plans. I’d never gone twice in a row before, not without at least a few minutes of downtime. But Cerise looked intent on going at it again.

I didn’t have time for this. Titus was going to be back before too long and I was going to miss my window of opportunity to rescue Surge. I began to think this was all some type of nefarious plot to delay me until his return. Had I been so stupid to fall for it?

  Yes!

I was a moron. My IQ, and sense of good judgment, apparently went out the door anytime panties hit the floor. But she felt so fucking good, I didn’t want to stop?

“This has been amazing, but I really should get going.” I threw it out there, casually.

She ignored me completely. I tried to move, but I couldn’t. I felt powerless. At first, I thought it was just exhaustion from the expenditure of energy. But it was something much more.

My life-force flowed from my body into Cerise. I could see the glowing particles of what I assumed was my soul. I suddenly felt empty, like my body was going to collapse on itself. It was a similar sensation to when the vampires had drained my energy.

  Cerise was a fucking succubus!

That was the undisclosed power on her stat screen!

She drained my power. If I had to die, I guess this wasn’t a bad way to go. But I didn’t have time for dying. People depended on me. Surge depended on me.

Oh, boy. Was I going to be in trouble if I made it out of this one.

Brain fog enveloped me. I was hardly able to think. I tried to clear my head and focus what little energy I had left. I tried to suck it back out of her. It was like a spiritual tug-of-war. I was fighting for my soul.

She knew what I was trying to do instantly. Her eyes turned glowing red and blazed at me. “You think you can come in here and take from me? You will never get the girl back, and I will unite the tri-stone.”

I didn’t have the energy to respond. But the confused look on my face prompted Cerise to continue.

She flashed a devious grin. “Titus is a mere pawn. A puppet in my scheme. I am the one who will rule the galaxy.”

This was the craziest thing that ever happened to me. This chick was bat-shit insane, yet there was a part of me that was totally turned on—even though it was killing me. I figured this is how drug addicts must feel.

I summoned all my strength and pushed her aside. I rolled off the bed and tried to put distance between us. I could feel my strength slowly return.

She hunched like a cat and snarled at me. A fireball formed in her hand, and she hurled it at me. It blazed across the room and slammed into my chest. It knocked me into the steel wall. The blow stole my breath and burned my chest. I felt like I had been hit by the sun.

  Talk about a pissed-off redhead!

I staggered to my feet and formed an energy ball of my own. I threw it at her as hard as I could. No pulling punches this time.

She dodged the blistering ball of blue energy. It slammed into the wall behind her and evaporated.

“You are no match for me,” she grumbled. “I am the strongest super in the galaxy. You should have accepted your fate and died blissfully.”

I checked my stat screen to see what powers I had acquired from having sex with her, but Mika was right—without the emotional connection, the powers didn’t fully transfer. But I did have some degree of fire manipulation, telepathy, and my energy transference was enhanced.

It was good that she didn’t get much of my power either. I sure as hell didn’t want her using it against me.

I was standing there with my dick swaying in the breeze. Her gorgeous breasts were bobbling all over the place. It was kind of ridiculous.

I used my metallic powers to hurl razor-sharp projectiles at her.

She dodged them with expert precision. They pinged off the steel wall behind her.

Cerise retaliated by throwing a stream of molten energy at me. The glowing red beam could melt ordinary flesh from bone.

I created a blue energy beam that deflected her molten beam. A blinding flash filled the room as the two opposing energy forces collided, sparking and crackling against one another. It took all of my strength and focus to hold her attack at bay.

But it was a losing battle.

Her energy beam pushed mine back with a slow, relentless march. The glowing red beam consumed my energy until I couldn’t hold it back any longer.

The beam slammed into me with an explosive force that knocked me through the steel wall, into the next room. I crashed to the ground, feeling like I had been baked in an oven. My lungs felt afire. Wisps of smoke wafted from my body.

My vision blurred and I struggled to get my wits about me. I glanced around the room and saw the two shards of the tri-stone sitting atop a pedestal. Their hazy shape came into focus. The two shards seemed to be fused together. There was a tiny fragment missing.

I staggered to my feet as Cerise marched through the twisted hole in the wall. She threw another flaming ball of energy that slammed into my chest and knocked me back to the ground. I slid across the floor, knocking over the pedestal. And the stone clattered across the floor. My head slammed into the far wall, making a sizable dent in the steel.

  Cerise leapt
through the air and pounced on top of me like a predator. Before I could do anything, her hand was at my throat, choking me. She used her other hand to extract the energy from my body. Once again, my life force escaped me. The glowing particles of my essence moved into her hand, energizing her already powerful body. Her malicious eyes stared into me.

She was way more powerful than I was. I had no idea what level she was at, but even with the help of the others we wouldn’t be able to defeat her.

My vision started to fade. Blackness enveloped me. I felt like I was going to evaporate into nothingness.

From the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of my father’s class ring. The red stone glowed. And the significance finally became clear to me. This was the last piece of the tri-stone. I had been the keeper of the stone all along and never knew it.

The two fused sections of the tri-stone were beyond my grasp. I turned my arm into liquid metal and extended my hand across the room. I grasped the two stones and brought them back to me. I summoned my last bit of strength and focused my attention on my father’s ring. Suddenly, a bolt of energy arced from the gem, striking Cerise.

The blast flung her across the room and knocked her unconscious.

My father’s ring was the smallest piece of the tri-stone, yet it was the most powerful.

I didn’t know how long Cerise would be out for, or if it would permanently affect her powers. But it had certainly saved my ass.

I staggered to my feet and rushed through the hole in the wall, moving into the next room. I grabbed my pants from the floor and slipped them on and stuffed the larger stones in my pocket.

I darted into the hallway and looked for Surge. I used Mika’s mind reading ability to connect with her telepathically. I caught a glimpse through her eyes. She was in the chamber at the end of the hall.

I raced to the door and transformed into Titus, using his biometrics to access the locking mechanism. The door slid open and a wave of relief washed over me as I saw Surge’s face.

  Her eyes filled with fear.

I didn’t know why at first, then I realized she thought I was Titus. I transformed back to myself, and her expression changed from fear to anger.

“What, are you not happy to see me?”
