“Well, where should we take you to live, old man?” Wendy threw in. “You’re not ready to move into a retirement community already, are you?”
“We can go anywhere we want,” Whisper answered, retrieving a piece of paper from her pocket, handing the note over to a curious JD.
“What are these numbers?” he asked, taking a close look at the paper in his hand.
“Those, JD… are the Baron’s routing numbers to his bank account, user name and password,” Whisper said, matter-of-factly.
“How did you get this?” he asked, eyes wide.
“Someone on the other side told me,” she said, giving him a wink. “All you have to do is transfer the money to another account… there’s a couple billion dollars they’re waiting for us.”
“I don’t know what to say,” JD said in amazement. “Great work, girl!”
“You deserve it,” Whisper answered back. “Now let’s get the hell out of here!”
“Come on, JD,” Wendy said, grabbing his arm. “Let’s hit the road… it’s time to start the beginning of our new lives.”
“How are we supposed to get out of here?” JD wondered, noticing they were still trapped in the swamps. “Amelia left the trees in place.”
“I can handle that,” said Whisper. She raised her arms and said a few words of a spell she’d been taught and the trees stood up; the path was now wide-open and welcoming them.
Dark clouds gathered over Alnwick Castle, England and several large bolts of lightning struck the castle. As the thunder rolled, the earth beneath the castle began to shake and give way. The massive structure began to crumble to pieces, slipping away into the ocean waters, below, becoming nothing more than an unrecognizable hole in the earth… once home to the Original Vampire: Baron Valvasor.
