The Certainty of Deception

I leaned over the armrest, placing a sweet kiss to her lips. This was the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. The road might not be easy, but with her by my side, I knew I could handle anything that came our way.
Acknowledgements
I count myself as one of the lucky ones to have such wonderful friends and family to support me in each of my endeavors. They encourage me, they inspire me, they coach me, they comfort me when I’m down, and above all they believe in me. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for the remarkable people in my life.
First of all, let me say thank you to my husband and son for standing beside me. The fact that you both endure listening to me talk incessantly about my stories, and don’t shove cotton in your ears to tune me out, proves how truly blessed I am. I love you both so much. You’re my life and my inspiration.
Next, Amy with Rose David Editing, I feel I never say it enough, but thank you for all that you do. I know I threw you a curveball with this one, but you came out swinging, and I think we can both agree, we hit it out of the park. You truly are amazing. Thank you, my friend.
Without you, Penny Reeves, Drew’s story would never have come to fruition. Thank you for encouraging me to tell his side of things. It wasn’t easy for me into get inside his head, but your coaxing definitely helped. I know we don’t always see eye to eye on how things might turn out, but know that your input has always been invaluable to me. Thank you for sticking with me through all of this, my friend.
Then there’s Mary Devereaux. *pause for effect* LOL. You’ve become more than just a valuable pre-reader, but a dear friend. Working with you has been a wonderful experience, and our friendship is one of a kind. You’re truly amazing; never forget that.
And what’s a good writer without her pre-readers? Nothing, I say! B.L. Wilde and Melanie Edwards, thank you both from the bottom of my heart for taking time out your busy schedules for me and my stories. You ladies are awesome! Yes, I said awesome. (Dang it, Queenie, I wish I had that creepy face emoticon you love to use.)
Every good book is made great through the visual talents of a great cover designer. Jada D’Lee, thank you for all of your gorgeous covers and hard work. You’re the easiest person to work with, and I love that you see things in such a clear way. I value you as an artist and as a friend.
My books wouldn’t look nearly as pretty on the inside if it weren’t for Jo Matthews with Written Elegance. Thank you, Jo, for all of your late night conversations and comic relief. You’re amazing!!
Stumbling upon Tara with Halos and Horns Book Blog has been the happiest coincidence of my life. Tara, you’ve been truly amazing and your enthusiasm is inspiring. I’ve enjoyed our chats and I can’t wait to meet you in July 2015.
I have one of the great street teams ever! My street team knows how to have fun, and they keep me on my toes. I couldn’t ask for a finer group of friends, readers, and outright crazy bunch of broads to share my love for books, music, movies, and above all, coffee with. But aside from all of that, they take their time to promote me and my books, and there’s nothing better than a group of people you call friends who are willing to stick their reputations on the line for you. This group of ladies is truly one of a kind.
Last but certainly not least, a big thank you to my readers. I have the best readers in the world. Each time I hear from one of you I get all giggly and girly on the inside. Your emails, tweets, posts, and comments keep me going. Thank you all for your support of me and my work. Y’all are awesome!
About the Author
Jeanne McDonald began telling stories at the ripe young age of five, when her mother considered the truth to be a lie due to her extensive embellishment to the retelling of an event. She wrote her first short story when she was twelve years old, and at the age of sixteen she tried her hand at poetry. She reconnected with her love for writing in 2010 thanks to the encouragement of a dear friend.
Her passions include a "mild" Starbucks addiction, music, reading, quotes, movies, and romance. When she's not spending time with her family, she can be found reading, writing, chatting with her friends or diligently working toward her bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. A proud Texan, Jeanne currently resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with her family.
