When Dreams Come True (The Star Series Book 1)

“I meant to do this differently, but it seems fate has something else in mind. He pointed to a saying. “‘Mo anem, Mo chridh’ means ‘My soul, My heart’ in Scottish. This has been passed down in my family for generations. My father brought it when they surprised us in London. He knew I was going to be needing it.” Slowly, he opened the box and there was a classic gold band, worn from years of use. “While it’s not an engagement ring, it’s the wedding band. The very band which will hold us together.” He tipped her chin up so she was looking at him. “Melissa, darling, would you do me the honor of spending the rest of your life with me? Would you be my wife?”
Happy tears spilled down her cheeks. “Yes, my soul, my heart. William, there is nothing more I want than to be your wife.” She wrapped her arms around him and peppered kisses all over his face.
Laughing with happiness, they fell back together on the bed as the sun rose on another day.
November 2015
Lissa and Will relaxed in bed together, watching the sunset change the color of the mountain behind the house. She sighed in contentment; her life was perfect. All the dreams she’d never before dared to dream were coming true. Her books were hitting lists all over the place, and they’d already started working on the script for her next movie. The man of her dreams was right beside her for all of it. She really couldn’t ask for anything more. Except for Hannah, although Lissa expected she’d given her heart to Royce but was too stubborn to admit it, or go for it. The previous night they’d seen an interview with Royce, and he wasn’t himself.
She rolled over and smiled at Will. “So, I was thinking…”
“Hmmm… yes, darling?”
“I think Hannah and Royce are in love with each other.”
“And you are bringing this up because…”
“Because we should play matchmaker.” She grinned and fluttered her eyelashes at him.
“They are both adults, you know.”
“Yes, but I know Hannah is too damn hardheaded to go after what she wants. She seems to think she doesn’t deserve it or some other crap. And we all know men are way too prideful, so that has to be Royce’s problem.”
“Now, wait just a minute—”
“Oh, come on! Yes, I know, I was generalizing, not all men are way too prideful, but somehow I think Royce isn’t going to want to do anything he’d feel would be begging like a dog to get some attention from her.”
“You may be right there, but—”
“So, I was thinking we’ve got to find some way to get them together.”
“That’s a good start. What if—”
Lissa jumped out of bed, grabbed her tablet and opened up her calendar. “Okay, not much going on now with the holidays. Damnit, I’m not sure we’d be able to do much now, but look at this.” She shoved the screen in front of his face. “But look here, right here, at Christmas!”
“Yes, I’d have to agree but—”
“Now we just have to make sure Hannah doesn’t somehow change her plans. Then in January, you both start filming the next installment of your superhero movie. We’ll lay down the groundwork in December, and in January we’ll seal the deal. Thank you so much for helping me with this!”
They stared at each other for a moment before Lissa spoke. “Well, don’t you have anything to say?”
“Oh, can I finish a thought now?”
Lissa frowned at him, “Of course. What do you mean?”
He softly laughed. “You are too cute. What I was going to say was I think you’re right; we should do whatever we can to make sure they are as happy as the two of us. But if it all goes wrong, it was your plan and not mine.”
“Oh, you!” Lissa gently punched him in the arm and laughed when he made quick work of pinning her on the bed and kissing her breath away.
