  Saturday’s downward-turned eyes flicked to his face: her irises immediately glazing over in confusion.

  Mark licked his lips and continued, now reaching for both of her hands, holding them tightly.

  “I never expected to get to this point this way, never knew I could care so deeply about someone so fast.”

  He chuckled softly, looking at her fingers.

  “I didn’t think that I would do this without a ring… but here I am.

  And so… I want to ask you: Will you have me to be the only man in your life? The only one that you kiss and love? The only one that you turn that smart mouth on? The only person you give your heart to? And the last person that you first wake up to (he smiled)… every morning?”

  Tears filled her eyes at his implication: her fingers shaking in anticipation.

  But first… she wanted to make sure that her understanding of this… request… was crystal clear.

  “What exactly are you asking for, Mark?” she meekly inquired.

  He shrugged, turning his bottom lip downward in nonchalance.

  “Nothing much…” he declared, rising smoothly from his seat to come kneel at her side.

  He kissed her fingers still located in his hand, glaring directly and wetly into Saturday’s eager stare.

  “Just you…”

  He kissed her hand.

  “And me…”

  He landed one last kiss.

  “Forever…”
