Rock Me (Jaded Ivory Book 1) Page 27

by Rebecca Brooke

“Caldwell, what the hell are you doing? You think the ball’s magically gonna appear in your hands?”

  “Holy fuck.”

I turned to chastise the player behind me, and that was when I realized the entire offensive line was looking into the stands, along with the three other coaches out there with me today. I followed their line of sight and almost groaned at what I found.

Mari was standing at the bottom railing, watching the practice. Which wouldn’t have been so bad, if it weren’t for the shorts that barely covered her ass and the tank top that showed off her two new bird tattoos.

“Eyes on the ground, gentlemen, or you’ll be doing suicides in full pads for the next thirty minutes.”

Every helmet on the field dropped to the ground.

“Holy shit,” I heard as I walked off the field. “Coach really is dating Mari from Jaded Ivory.”

I hopped the railing and stood before her. “I think you have a fan club.”

“The only member I care about is standing in front of me.”

“Definitely words I like to hear. I thought you were in the studio today?”

She shrugged. “We finished early and I thought I’d come watch your practice.”

I let my gaze roam over her outfit. “And you expect them to concentrate when you’re wearing that?”

  “What’s wrong with it?”

I stepped closer and ran my hand along the curve of her ass. “Besides the fact that I can practically see the bottom of your ass? Absolutely nothing. I’m enjoying the view. However, I don’t think my guys have enough self-control to keep themselves from eye-fucking you from across the field.”

She smirked. “I guess I better leave you to it then.” She turned, swaying that sexy ass as she walked. She stopped and peeked over her shoulder. “Don’t be too late. I’ll be home all by myself waiting for you.” She waved and continued through the tunnel into the main part of the stadium.

I did the best to adjust my aching dick without being seen. Two hours left of practice before I could do anything about it. If there was one thing I’d learned about Mari in the last year, it was that life with her would never be boring. She’d hit her lowest and come out swinging, taking me with her in the process. Now she was on top of the world.

And I’d do my best to hold her up there for as long as she wanted.

  ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Rock Me is a story near and dear to me. Being a band and choir geek myself, I remember what was like to not be part of the popular crowd. But I wouldn’t change the friends I made for the world. If Mari can prove to just one person how strong they are, that they can do whatever they want, then my heart is happy. For years I’ve thought about Mari and where her story might take me. I’m so glad I can finally share her story with you.

Thank you to Marisa of Cover Me Darling. The second I saw this cover, I knew it was time to tell Mari’s story and this cover couldn’t be any more perfect for her.

Brandy and Kelley, you ladies always keep me sane, especially when I feel like I’m completely over my head. Thank you for always cheering me on, talking me down when I need it, and pushing me the rest of the time. I’m not sure what I would do without you. Thank you to Tracy, Miranda, and Alexis, your thoughts and notes are always a tremendous help.

A special thank you to Ryn of Delphi Rose. Rock Me holds a special place in my heart, so to hear such positive praise makes me happy dance. Thank you for always helping to make my words a little bit brighter. And to Judy of Judy’s proofreading, thank you for finding those last little pieces to bring it all together.

To the bloggers and readers, thank you for giving Mari and Cole a chance. I hope you’ll come back to see more of them in Sawyer’s story.

Remember to always stand up for what you believe is right. Don’t let the bullies win.
