Lost in You

Macy had taught him that. She’d shown him so much.
Thankfully they had had one day in the schedule that nobody was booked for the resort. She’d wanted to get married in the backyard by the pond just like his brothers.
So here they were on a Wednesday evening and he’d never seen her more beautiful. He couldn’t wait to peel her out of that simple, straight gown with lace over her slender shoulders. He knew for a fact she’d bought a pair of brand new cowgirl boots for the wedding. Of course his Macy wouldn’t want something as traditional as heels.
She’d wanted simple, by the pond, at sunset. Those were her only requirements. Liam didn’t care if they got married at a drive-thru window. He just wanted Macy to be his—forever.
The preacher had already left and Liam and his family, Macy and her father were all still enjoying this perfect spring day in the backyard of Bella Vous. No decorations were needed when the setting was naturally enhanced with mossy oak trees and flower beds bursting with color, thanks to Sophie’s eye for plants.
Liam grew to love this place more and more each day and he totally understood where Chelsea’s vision had come from.
“Can I give my condolences to the bride?”
Liam looked up to meet Zach’s lopsided grin. “Don’t touch my bride.”
Sliding his arm around Sophie’s waist, Zach shrugged. “You’ve hugged on my wife enough.”
“We’re all damn lucky,” Braxton chimed in as he moved to the group. Cora had one hand on Heidi’s collar and her other hand loosely wrapped around Braxton’s elbow. “I’d say Chelsea would be pretty pleased at how things have worked out for all of us.”
“She’s smiling down on us, I’m sure.” Sophie’s eyes misted. “I’m so happy for you guys.”
Phil moved in on the other side of Macy, and Brock came to stand by Sophie. She reached down to take Brock’s hand.
“I hope it’s okay if I share some news,” Sophie announced. “It’s just . . . we’re all here and this is such a beautiful, perfect day.”
“Of course,” Macy stated, leaning into Liam’s side. “You’re beaming. What’s the good news?”
Sophie’s gaze darted to Zach, and he gave a nod. “We’re adopting a little boy. He’s two and his name is Isaac.”
Liam laughed, then shot a glance to Macy, who winked back at him. “We put in for adoption as well,” Macy exclaimed. “We obviously just got the ball rolling, but this is something we’re passionate and excited about.”
“I guess we can’t keep the secret any longer.” Braxton’s smile widened as he placed a hand on Cora’s abdomen. “We’re looking at our own miracle around Thanksgiving.”
Macy and Sophie both squealed and rushed to hug Cora. Braxton, Zach, and Brock shifted out of the way and came to stand next to Liam. As Liam watched the women rejoicing, he couldn’t believe what was taking place all because his late sister had a vision.
“Hope we didn’t spoil your day by . . .” Braxton muttered.
Liam cocked his head toward his brother. “By announcing we’re all going to start another generation of Monroes? Not possible.”
Brock groaned. “I hope you all don’t expect me to babysit. I’m already working at the store and the resort.”
Phil laughed, slapping Brock on the back. “You want to save for that new car, don’t you?”
“We won’t make you watch all three at the same time,” Liam assured Brock. “We can set up a schedule for a rotation.”
Brock’s eyes narrowed. “You wouldn’t.”
Liam met Macy’s eyes across the group.
“With Liam hoping to open the new bakery part of Bella Vous in late summer, we may need extra help with the little one,” Braxton stated.
Macy shook her head. “Don’t listen to them, Brock. I need you more at the store than I do changing diapers.”
Diapers. Liam had never imagined his life with a beautiful wife, a bakery of his own on the horizon, and a head chef position at a resort. Soon he’d be a father. His life was beyond full and as Liam watched his wife of only thirty minutes laughing with his family, he knew he’d finally come home. For good.
Macy caught his attention and mouthed “I love you.” Liam couldn’t wait to leave his own wedding so he could show her just how much he loved her, too.
