  About the Authors

  Leanne Banks

Leanne Banks is a national #1 bestselling author of romance.

Having written more than 20 novels, Leanne is known for telling a story with strong emotion, characters with whom everyone can relate, a kick of hot sensuality, and a feel-good ending that lingers.

She is the recipient of Romantic Times Magazine’s career-achievement awards in Series Sensuality and Love and Laughter, and her books have been recognized by the Award of Excellence Contest, the Romance Writers of America RITA Award contest and the National Readers’ Choice Awards.

Leanne is grateful for awards and reviews and was particularly moved by a letter from a reader remarking that Leanne’s book got her through a chemotherapy session. The reader’s letter inspired a favorite turn of phrase: Never underestimate the power of a romance novel.

Leanne lives in her native Virginia with her husband and two teenage children. She loves music, chocolate, quotes, and new adventures. She also believes that romance readers are the best readers in the world because they understand that love is the greatest miracle of all.

  Brenda Jackson

Brenda is a die-hard romantic who married her childhood sweetheart 30 years ago and still proudly wears the “going steady” ring he gave her when she was 15. Because she began believing very early in the power of love and romance, she can’t help but write stories with happy endings. She is an award-winning bestselling author of more than 10 romance novels and looks forward to increasing that number. She and her husband live in the city where they were born, Jacksonville, Fla., and have two sons in college. She has a B.S. in business administration and presently works in management for a major insurance company.

Coming home from work and sitting down to her computer to weave love stories is the highlight of her day. She and her husband spend time together traveling to discover those romantic places she could use as settings in her books.

Brenda would love to hear from her readers. Write her at P.O. Box 28267, Jacksonville, FL 32226. You can also contact her through her email address, GJBJ@aol.com.

  Anna DePalo

While still in her teens, Anna DePalo began her first novel. She wishes she could say this early manuscript went on to receive numerous accolades and bring her fame and fortune. Instead, that first attempt—well, all three pages of it—hit the trash heap, and she understood why many authors throughout history have burned their papers for posterity.

Anna went on to live in Italy and England, graduate from Harvard, earn an advanced degree in political science, practice intellectual property law, and marry the man of her dreams.

One day, Anna decided to give fiction writing another try, believing that having done some more living would help her tell the truth about life in the pages of made-up stories. This time she didn’t stop at three pages—or even 93. Writing during weekends and evenings, after working long days as an attorney, she finally typed her first “The End.” That first finished manuscript, Having the Tycoon’s Baby, soon sold to the Silhouette series, became a bestseller and award winner, and has been published in over 10 countries to date.

These days, Anna has happily traded a lawyer’s navy-blue suits for a full-time writer’s blue jeans and is given to toasting new story beginnings while ensconced in front of her home-office computer. Readers can contact her through her web site at www.annadepalo.com or directly at anna@annadepalo.com.

  Susan Crosby

Susan Crosby started writing contemporary romances to entertain herself when her children were small. When they entered school, she returned to college and earned her B.A. in English, then began writing as a career, her longtime goal.

Having grown up at the beach in Southern California during the heyday of the Beach Boys, Susan still loves the feel of sand between her toes, early morning ocean swims, and that yellow polka dot bikini she wishes she could wear just one more time!

Susan has two grown sons, a terrific daughter-in-law and two perfect grandchildren.

  Heidi Betts

In one form or another, Heidi Betts has been a storyteller for most of her life—whether entertaining her friends, working to improve her grades or attempting to get out of trouble. So it’s no surprise, really, that she grew up to be a writer. She began her love affair with the romance genre in junior high, where she used to sneak romance novels into study hall when she should have been doing her homework, and it didn’t take long for her to decide that she wanted to write a few romances of her own.

Soon after joining Romance Writers of America, Heidi’s writing began to garner attention in several contests, including the esteemed Golden Heart competition, which she placed in the finals three years in a row. Since selling her first book in 1999, she has been the recipient of numerous awards and stellar reviews.

Heidi also has a soft spot in her heart when it comes to animals and has been known to take injured and homeless critters of just about any species into her home. The domesticated ones, she usually ends up keeping; the undomesticated ones, she nurses back to health before returning to the wild. When she isn’t writing, Heidi can often be found reading or watching television with a cat (or two) curled up on her lap.

Heidi is the founder of her local RWA Chapter, Clearfield Area Romance Authors #167. She lives in Central Pennsylvania with her family and pets, and loves to hear from readers. You can contact her at heidi@heidibetts.com or visit www.heidibetts.com for news and information about upcoming books.

  Charlene Sands

Storytelling has always been a part of Charlene Sands’s life. As a young girl, she remembers sitting with her father in the evenings asking him to tell her a story. His imagination and flare for the dramatic always entertained and had her coming back for more. Later she began reading his written word; journals and romantic poetry that he’d penned for the family, and those words inspired her to take the writing plunge.

Charlene has always read romance—grand adventures where the hero and heroine traversed rugged ground, beating insurmountable odds to finally find the path to true love. Books filled her life, and her list of favorite authors kept growing. When she finally mustered the courage to face the computer head-on and write, she felt an immediate kinship to those talented authors. Since she fell in love and married her high school sweetheart, she is definitely a romance author who believes in happy endings and writes love stories that warm the heart.

She began her writing journey in 1995 and sold her first novel in 1998, appropriately named Chance in a Million. To date, she has sold sixteen books and counting, writing both Silhouette Desire and Harlequin Historical novels. Presently, she heads the Ask an Author program for the Orange County Chapter of RWA where she is proudly an active member.

Please be sure to enter her contests, stop by for a chat and view her upcoming releases at: www.charlenesands.com or email her at charlenesands@hotmail.com.
